And what happened? Eve3n though the job had such requirements that even a monkey could do it, they chose the one who attended college. I live in Denmark and here not only is university free, but they actually paid me to study - not much I have to admit but enough to support me through university without debt.

And it's actually a good investment for the government to support me like this. I now have a job that is better paid than I would otherwise have and therefore pay more taxes.

But I can see why it wouldn't work in America since you have this twisted idea that rich people should not pay taxes.

On top of that I get "Student benefits" witch is available to every student over age of 17 and that gives me bit over 200€ (350+ $) a month and no, its not a loan. As student I also get many perks such as using train -50% discount and various organizations provide us with various perks from discounts to all other kinds of supports such as finding job or cheap housing.

All you have to do is to get in to school. Essentially its just like you are looking for job. If they have free space you pretty much get in with out any hassle, if there is more people wanting to get in than there is seats they will pick people in depending on their grades, experience, optimism etc.

There is no national test, but good grades from subjects get you a long way

there is also Navy and Air Force ROTC. Not all schools offer Army ROTC. They are all the same, basicly, but each is influenced by their own section of the military.
