  • If this was Indy I was there in 69, my first summer out of high school and a grand adventure of 100 miles up from Louisville. It seemed like such a big deal, and 40 years later it still feels that way. I'm not much on drags with so much sprint car racing here, but I make a pilgramage to Indy for the greatest drag on earth about every other year. I always take someone who hasn't been to see top fuel, last year in the pits when they wicked it up it made a 10 year old boy cry it scared him so bad

  • the OG mega-mo @ 1:19

  • that slomo burnout was beautiful :P

  • I love how you can see each pulse from the exhaust blowing the smoke off of the tire.

  • OK, here's the deal - who in their right mind would watch a video on drag racing if they weren't into it? So assuming that everyone that watched this video understands and appreciates the sport, why is there 26 dislikes? I mean, what's there to dislike? I just don't get it.

  • @554687858 DUde, they are called, PWNL.... People with no life... lol

  • thats one long burnout

  • i still dream of a little smoking tire rolling on that track

  • Light 'em up !

  • who would dislike this video

  • i love how its only a 5 lug rim at 0:52

  • is it weird that the sound of an engine actually turns me on

  • @Brandon33akahk It is weird if it's don't. ;-)

  • 1:30pm Saturday (JEG) - Time in SLOW MO ye

Taylor was just driving behind them when they

Missed the exit Missed the exit Missed the tixe

Taylor was just driving behind them when they

1:30pm Saturday (JEG) - Time in SLOW MO ye

  • they had slo mo in the 50's when nasa was desighing the space capsule thing but it was b&w

  • were can you buy this video

  • thats why i love America

people there know how to have serious fun !!!

  • @mocasvaldo I love Europe because we know how to take serious corners ;)

  • they had slo mo back then? where the hell have i been

  • @diekill123 Yeah, just run a bunch of film really fast and play it back at whatever rate the heart desires.

  • Lol oldskool drag racing you can see how bad it was

  • you can hear every piston fire. AWESOME

  • I think that's actually the car launching, not burning out - lighting up the tyres like that was quite normal in the era of slingshot dragsters before the advent of ripple-wall slicks

  • nice dictor

  • Diggers were the best!!!

  • cant beat good ol 16mm shot properly lol

  • Very cool. You can see each individual cylinder firing.

  • Superb , I'll be buying this !!

Reminds just how far film production standards have plummeted over the last 20 years or so ! I just love this style of commentary !!

  • you sound like an old man

  • advertizing for a dvd?

  • i wonder if this was at southland dragway??

  • fuck was everything like grindhouse movies in the 70s!

  • Ahah, at 0:02-0:03 the guy is like "ahhhhh!!! wtf is with my bicycle wheels turning!?!?!?"

  • 0:25 the best title shot. ever.

  • I forgot how cheap the front tyres were back 30 years ago. Looks like they ripped them off some bicycles :P

  • and I have a boner...

  • I have 2... o.0

  • lmao

  • good somebody with a sense of humor!

  • Anyone that says the smell is "yuk" should stick to baking cookies!!

Burning nitro and rubber are some of the best smells on earth!

  • @pilgrim1138 and dont forget fuel

  • @pilgrim1138 you know it

  • @pilgrim1138 Add clutch dust to the mix.

  • @pilgrim1138 aaaaammmmeeeeeeeennnn!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @pilgrim1138 oh man that nitro is rough on the eyes though

  • @pilgrim1138 im 2 years behind on this but fuck yes sir to ur comment

  • @pilgrim1138 Don`t forget WD40

  • @pilgrim1138 mens cologne

  • Its presetantion appears to be like load runner cartoon :P

  • ask your mum about my load runner

  • that smell is so yuk,but I love it and there is nothing finer than seeing a pair of rails going down the track. awesome vid.

  • i love the smell of high octain fuel and burning rubber but i also grew up around that shit lol. but i do got to agree nothing better then seeing a good drag race.

  • What about seeing 18 naked, Swedish lesbians going down on each other?

  • Beautiful.

  • Did they even have a high speed camera in those days ?

  • No, this was made possible only by time travel.

    (yes, see the Apollo launches)

  • front tires look like bike tires

  • The concept of the front wheel's was taken from a motorcycle. I heard Don Garlits saying somthing like that in a interview one time.

  • Sick... I want one of those gas mask lookin race helmets.

  • I do too!

  • It takes some balls to drive a sling-shot dragster. Crazy ass 60's white people.

  • that's awesome how you can see the individual firing of the cylinders and the cooking effect the exhaust fumes have on the tires

  • what thier too fucking poor to afford front tires?

  • back in the day, that was normal

  • Top Fuels dragsters today have skinny tires too.

  • just not that... flimsy, or like they came straight off a bicycle

  • back in the day a lot of em did...

these dragsters were often lighter then the modern day dragsters because they didnt have to meet as much safety criteria.

  • no

its just they didnt have the good wheels we have today

  • Comment removed

  • skinny tires = reduced aerodynamic drag = lower coefficient of friction

  • who cares this video isnt even about shit like that its bout slow mo lol

  • Yeah! lol

  • omg just look at 0:31 man got to be insane to drive those "coffins"

  • can anyone tell me what they squirt in throttle body after burnout b4 race thx

  • I think they spray something on it so it doesn't have the throttle freeze open so i have been told or something along those lines, But i would like to hear from someone that really knows!

  • u are correct its to de-ice the butterflys and shaft

  • Thanks Mate!

  • De-icer

  • methanol

  • can't describe the beauty of this!

  • my thoughts exactly

  • it took some serious balls to drive those

  • Still does, but these were 50 times more dangerous than contemprorary machines in regards to mechanical failure. The driver literally has his nads up against the rear end differential housing, the clutch between his ankles and the engine jam-packed with extremely flammable nitromethane in front of him... Plenty of ways to get hurt/killed when something gives out.

  • catapult drag racers! wow thats old school

  • There's no way you can put me inside one of those killing mashines! Those people than were crazy....

  • if the tire's of that era would've had a softer side wall's and well beadlock's but that's out of the question. they wouldn't of spun tire's like they did

  • is this ticking sound added, or is it the engine? Like can we hear the pistons moving?

  • super machines

  • stop deleting my videos youtube!

  • damn thats some hot exaust

  • Actually I think it's a chemical that burns with an invisible flame, I forget what its called but I think that's what your seeing. I'm not positive though but I know it was used in racing for a while.

  • the only thing fake here is your mom

  • @grant64330 gay comeback

  • @1001ZACH1 gay comment

  • @XxlargemanxX your gay

  • @grant64330 oh that's not true... his mom is real... a real slut

  • damn that slow motion burnout is crazy!! i could even see the vibration of the engine forcing the wheels on the smoke from 0:50 to the end!

  • Not vibrations, but the exhaust from that one cylinder pulsing the smoke out of the way.

  • The guys during those times of drag racing were the craziest sons of bitches much like the astronauts of the Mercury Missions (fuckers strapped to the nose of an old ICBM Rocket).

  • What about sammy miller he made a car with a hydrogen peroxide rocket 1/4 mile in 3.58 secs 0-100mph 0.37 secs now thats what i call balls

  • I wonder how fast they would be going now if they had figured out how to hook up the horsepower earlier

  • very cool.

  • most beautifull thing i've ever seen

  • The spinning tire in slo-mo is beautiful.

  • This is not 1000fps.. it´s 380 fps.

  • what? i didn't know they had 1000fps in the 60s. lol

  • All we need now is the smell of nitro in the mornin'.

  • THIS.... is THE COOLEST video- ever! I love it!!

  • If they built them like that today we wouldn't be worrying about "chunking" Goodyears. Of course they would still be in the sixes.

  • id rather be in the 6's then worrying about chunking, we lost darrell russell to POS goodyear tires going out and taking his wing out.

  • That's about the coolest thing I've ever seen.

  • The shot of the tire spinning is rad

  • very nice indeed

  • Fantastic! Seeing the exhaust pulses hit the tire smoke is unreal.

  • Love those front engine slingshot dragsters.

  • Very cool vid! It's amazing how far the sport has progressed.

  • Excellent the Slow Motion !!!!!

  • freakin awesome
