Who lies about their sexuality and not mean it? T. R. it seems that he's tired of pretending to be something he's not, his confession was a testament to becoming a better person, all the while, Isaiah is stepping all over his character and making an ass out of himself because he can't stand gay people.
It's not about taking sides, it's about right and wrong, he's a grown man, he should've known better, it's unacceptable by any definition, it it was about racism you'd be saying the same thing.

I think it's great that he made this, and that he sort of apologises (sp?). But first of all it doesn't really look like he means what he sais, and second he doesn't say anything that makes this any personal. He should have said something about learning this himself, or something.

wow... on one hand he has apologized several times but on the other hand what he said in the first place is really hard to forget.
It sucks that alot of people won't even consider the possibility that his apology was genuine. They forgave the Dog the Bounty Hunter for using the N-word

Well BellaXmuerte23, people actually loved Isaiah, whereas Dog was always and will always be a joke. I agree though, or rather I think if you're caught up in something like that you have no idea if you were bigotted or not when you first said it, you probably just want it to go away at any price. He could have made this a little more sincere sounding, though.

Let's get one thing straight. What he said has no place in public life. But the media took this actor and threw him under a bus. He apoligized, went into the public and asked for forgiveness. But to certain individuals, that wan't enough. Instead, it has lead to the erosion of his career. Not only was he was the best actor on grey's anatomy, he is one of our best actors today. I hope that he continues to find work in tv and hollywood. All support for Isaiah Washington.

glad you spoke out for IW. Just by watching interviews done through talk shows, Isaiah proved himself to be an educated person. I am sure there must be some kind of misunderstanding with the controversies that got him fired. But, I want Burke back!!

Freedom of Speech doesn't mean you can be an arrogant jerk to your coworkers... the freedom is about speaking up against the government when it is doing something you believe is wrong. This wasn't about his beliefs, this was about respect. Which, obviously, Isaiah didn't seem to have for T.R.

I am gay and I truly think that he said something in the heat of the moment that was blown way out, and I am sure he wishes he hadn't. He did everything he was asked and more to try and make up for what he said and he STILL got fired. I am not saying what he said was right but give the guy a break now. The entire point of this whole controversy when it happened was that people should stop using hurtful words. What kind of society do we live in where we constantly hate one another? This comment is just as offensive as the one made by Washington. Was it necessary to use that word to make your point? Why cant people stop being so cruel to one another? Is it that hard to watch what comes out of our mouths and to be respectful of people?

He made this PSA to try to make right of the situation. Regardless whether or not you like him, he is trying! Maybe it is just for his career, but hopefully someday he could be(or maybe is) genuinely sorry for what he said. & he really could be trying to be more accepting of the gay community. Britter- the point I was trying to make- was NOT simply calling the man a nigger because he called a gay man faggot. My comment was meant to illustrate that when someone uses a racist bigoted comment- that they are projecting onto their victim a label which belongs to them to show a racist bigot is un-accepting of responsibility and the PSA was a publicity stunt designed to keep his job and change his public image.

I apologize for the misunderstanding. I agree it was done in order to keep his job &it wasnt as sincere as if it were done prior to. But if it would have been then he would have been even more of a bigot/hypocrite. I hope he really gets something out of counceling. Im not saying everyone who uses this word needs to seek therapy but they need to find the underlying reason for using them which is usually from hate. I hope my future children dont grow up in a society this

Also meant to say -- not believing that Isiah Washington was fired due to racism does not in any way deny that racism exists and continues to lead to problems, including firings today. I think that by blaming racism for this issue, Isiah Washington is actually making it harder on people who face genuine racism. Shame on him!
