@MCsuperChristina I'm English too and as far as i can tell it's a scapegoat argument for those who support private healthcare in America. What they mean by deathpanels, from what im aware of, is the degradation of healthcare due to it using a social structure instead of a private one. Obviously that's a weak point but it seems that right-wing supporter of private healthcare cling to it .
@MCsuperChristina We use public healthcare an our healthcare system is perfectly fine. Of course there have been fiscal management issues but after a recession that's expected. The problem with the American view on it is the police, post office, fire brigade, military, public transportation and water services are all seen as 'public services' but when the matter of healthcare comes into question it becomes 'socialism'. If they made all public services private maybe they would change their mind.
When I was on vaccation with friends in US, one of my friends got a bad flu. He visited a hospital for half a day, got prescription. He bought medicine and got better. Travel insurence will cover the bill. Problem solved.

@theRekcabofD depends on what kind of doctor you are. if your a highly specialized brain surgeon your gonna make alot more than a med school grad.
And where you live. If your in a high class area your gonna make more than working in a low class area.
And how respected the hospital or office you work in is. alot of factors go into it, but i think 400 would probably be close to the top of the ladder.
If those doctors had indeed said what this poll indicates, then ... good riddance. A doctor shouldn't be a doctor for money - they should be a doctor because they're driven to help people. I'm no expert but I'm pretty sure there's something about that in their Oath.
The Dr. stat does not surprise me. Over the last 15-20 years there has been a huge exodus of Surgeons' and MDs' from Can. to the US, because billing is so much simpler in the US, and they can make so much more money. Way more money than they can in Can.
If those Drs' were in the poll I'm not surprised that so many would say that they would opt to quit, or retire. They'll just take their US medical money and move back to Can.
@PirateFish1 I'm sorry I'm not going to get in an argument about health care reform with you but what you just said is absolutely wrong and misinformed. Doctors in Canada love the system because of the simplicity of billing. They don't have to bill numerous companies they only have to bill one entity which cuts back on paperwork and office time and increases their time with patients. Please inform yourself. I'm sure you still think health care reform in american is going to be just like

few doctors who make that kind of $ usually work 120 hour weeks and this healthcare reform would cut their salary by 50%... they would have been on pre set government wages that are nearly nothing, no matter how many hours worked. It wouldn't be worth it for them. Yeah... i could 45% of doctors retiring if it would of gone through... so thank god it didn't.
@rockindoodcm Your post is awkwardly worded so I might have misunderstood what you were saying but it looks like nothing but misinformed garbage. Do you honestly believe there was ever any proposal for government set wages for any doctors, regardless of how many hours they worked? That is as bad as the death panels nonsense. The only doctors who could have lost money were the ones cheating medicare (the ones stealing from tax-payers).
Also, you are aware that health care reform passed, right?
@jimbrown257 yes it did pass... but that part didn't. They wanted to set wages for doctors, but they took that out before it passed... that's what really was going to screw them. There were death panels in the way way begging when the bill was first formed but they were removed because no one wanted them.
@rockindoodcm The only death panels are the ones that are and have been imposed by the insurance companies. Public health care would -end- the death panels.
@fedos what are you talking about? You are never denied coverage because of your age. Originally, death panels were in the bill, but with all the amending they did to it, that along with public heath and many other things didn't pass. However the passed version still has many flaws.
@rockindoodcm I never said anything about age. The provision that was originally in bill and intentionally misrepresented by Sarah Palin was a requirement that insurance pay for end of life counseling that the insured may have with their doctor. The doctor doesn't make any decisions, just informs the patient of options. You don't even have to have the counseling if you don't want it. This was a compassion measure.
The biggest flaw with the final bill is the lack of public health insurance.
@fedos yes you did say that. Up there you said that insurance companies impose death panels. A death panel is when they deny heath insurance do to age, so you don't know what you are talking about there. And what you said up there is that you get "counseling", since when does "counseling" mean health care. Again... that is how the government is controlling what happens to you instead of your doctor, like you said "the doctor has no choice" on what to do to you, you just get optional...
@fedos "counseling". Anyway, how is the public option being taken out a bad thing. All it did is force heath insurance over people who didn't want it, gave it to people who didn't deserve it such as illegals, ans lowered the quality of it to the people who already had it. In the end it would of benefited 40,000,000 people, and 10,000,00 of those people are illegal and screwed the other 470,000,000 people. How is that good?
My family doctor DROPPED his practice just last week. (He did give a month notice though) He's only doing industrial medical now. If someone gets hurt at his job, they send him there. He told me it's directly because of the healthcare bill about to be passed. Now i have to find a new family doctor.
cuteycindyhoney, if your doctor is "only" doing "industrial medical," then he really didn't quit. And, even if he quits that, someone else will fill his shoes. If there's a demand, there's a supply.
@ReligiousZombie That's what i did mean. If someone gets hurt at work, they send him on over to MY doctor. I know I'm a little bitter. I've had the same family doctor since I was like twelve years old. I don't want to look for a new one!
@cuteycindyhoney really? are you lying or is he a crazy republican like you? Why would a doctor quit if his patients have health insurance? I thought they LIKED it when people had insurnace, so they get paid
@cuteycindyhoney well, seeing as you are putting highly political comments everywhere, i highly suspect your statement was political in origin. I am highly dubious of the coincidence of you finding a doctor having the same political zeal as you AND that a doctor would quit because MORE of his patients have health insurance. I hope this clarifies things for you.
@grendelee Yes, I post comments about what I believe in. No, I was not telling lies about my family doctor. I did not "Find" him. I grew up knowing him. Lastly, I don't really give a flying fig if you believe me or not. I've thought it over today. I don't care if some guy I never will ever meet in real life thinks I'm telling lies. Have a nice life.
@cuteycindyhoney lol does each comment have another story about your life? Has your grandma been before the death panels? I believe that if you spread truth, more truth would be known. If you have to tell lies to defend your position, what does that say about your posiition?
@grendelee OMG! I'm glad I have no link to my name or address here!. I'd be afraid of this person coming after me! All I said was my family doctor gave up his private practice to work only in industrial medicine. Why does this loony person have such a hard time believing this? I write online erotic stories. I've been told I have a vivid imagination. If I was to lie, it would be a hell of a lot better then my doctor switched to industrial medicine! Signed, Honey Moon.. PS. Grendelee is an ass.
@grendelee One more PS. grendelee, I don't care what you say about me, but who the hell do you think you are making asinine comments about my grandmother? It's the standard liberal tactic. When all else fails, attack the opponent's family! I bet you feel real big and bad making such tasteless comments about a member of my family. Like I said before. I am so glad you have no way to track me. You probably thought I'd be dumb enough to post my doctor's name so you could. Too bad for you I didn't!
Excuse me, I have to ask you if you made that story about your doctor being forced to take patients he didn't want or if he told you that and you actually believed it. There is nothing in the health care bill that is anything like that. I know a bunch of conservative liars were screaming about a government take-over but that had no basis in reality. What you wrote was truly one of the dumbest things I have ever read regarding the health care paranoia.
@jimbrown257 I never said he was forced to take patients he didn't want. I only stated what he told me. He was retiring from general practice, and was only doing industrial medicine. I know people are saying I'm telling lies, but this is what he told me. Believe me if you want. I don't care.
I know Professor Hawkings voice box sounds a little like an American, but he is actually English...you couldn't make this stuff up. I have an American friend, at University with me. Last year he was in America for the Xmas break, and slipped and broke his arm. Rather than pay the hospital fees (he's uninsured), he flew 12hrs back to the UK, with a broken arm, and had it sorted for free. Horrifying, the system has failed.
@Invirtuo you can if you don't tell anyone you have a fracture- it was a closed simple fracture not a compound one- no one would be able to tell if he was wearing a "sweater" or coat. Talk about flawed logic- the fact that it also happened to mike somewhat undermines your argument...
@purplevolcano He didn't fleece the NHS, he lives in Britain. He went home to visit family. He works and pays NI in Britain. He pays VAT on things he buys. In Britain he is entitled to heatlhcare. Thankfully we have a decent human system.
The Hawkins part nearly had me falling of the chair i was laughing so hard. What shitheads*lol*
Besides that: Business as usual in the US. You guys should have a look at how a civilized country is run. It might inspire one hell of a clean up in America;-)

"If you like Medicare so much why don't you join it."
She was referring to the fact that Congress' government health care is separate from Medicare/Medicaid. Nothing embarrassing about understanding the hypocrisy of so-called "egalitarian" Democrat politicians.
In the "financial industry" from day one everyone is trained that everything you do, everything you say is to "protect the industry", Much as I suspect is the same in government and the healthcare industry. Honesty and intelligence are not welcome. Which is why all these "industries" have failed miseraby. The real challenge is for them to survlive long enough that we all forget what reality is. The way you "protect the industry" is by serving a function and being competent.
but this poll out and out lied about stephen hawking saying if he lived in england he'd be dead, whereas he does live in england and credits the health care system for his survival, so the rest of the poll is discredited no matter who it agrees with.
Umm...what's so hard to believe about 65% of doctors being against making less money? I'm surprised it's not a higher number.
And check your facts. In countries that have socialized healthcare, it's alot....let me make it clear, ALOT more than 5% below what doctors in America make. Even Michael Moore would set you guys straight on that.
everybody can find or make a poll that will justify whatever view they want to promote.
If a poll validates what you think, it's 100% accurate! and polling is scientific and awesome!
If a poll invalidates your views, it's a total sham, waste of time and money, polling is unreliable! And it sucks!
I used to work for a company that did opinion surveys. We could tell which "client" had written a survey during election season pretty easily. All you had to do was read the wording.
The web is the most trusted news medium (over TV and print combined), and Fox News is the most trusted TV news source, according to results from a new Zogby poll
Fox ruled with 39.3 percent of those polled beating out CNN at 16 percent and MSNBC at 15 percent.
These results are good fodder for Fox in defending its claims of being "Fair and Balanced" — its also interesting to note that more people in the poll described themselves as Democrats than Republicans

The reason doc's are gonna walk away is that they want to be paid a fair wage for their work. NOTICE how doc's are walking away from Medicaid patients - Why would they do that? Why NOT accept paying patients?
Because the GOV is going to give them the STIFFY right in backside - insane paperwork to collect fees and fee schedules that are not worth the work.
the docs in the "socialized" countries of europe and canada seem to be doing just fine...I guess with possible decrease in salary and lack of "fair wages," US docs will have to rethink that second Range Rover or that vacation home on the beach...what a pity!
dude, sorry, but you're a fucking idiot. its funny how you are putting down doctors' lifestyles when you have no idea what you're talking about.
"will have to rethink that second range
rover"????
your ignorance shines with that comment.... the problem is that doctors have less and less freedom to practice medicine, while insurance companies and lawyers(people who don't have a clue about medicine) are the ones calling the shots now... so of course docs are pissed off, you would be too
How many of those people are actually rich and can afford the high cost for treatment? How many poor people can afford the high cost for treatment.
Rich people can afford any kind of treatment they want, but it's not the same for the middle or working class, who can go bankrupt from just one hospital visit if they're uninsured.
Like hell it is. The US just uses more x-rays and medical checkups.
Also, US actually does not have a much higher rate than Europe, more around 7-8% overall.
Check medscape, or wikipedia, etc. Of course, Europe has mostly socialized care, and so factoring in that, overall figures put Europe in the lead for cancer survival.
where in the flying fuck did you get that study? America has a better survival rate than even Sweden, PLEASE!!! as Cenk said "there's stupid, then there's painfully stupid"
Dude the point of this video is completely lost on you. You just typed numbers down, and now your calling them facts, wow it's like trying to strangle the pilsbury dough boy.
"America has a better survival rate than even Sweden" This is not true at all. Also the average life span for U.S. citizens is very low and infant mortality rates are very high. Time to put down the crack pipe athos.
but Americans dont have too wait for their cancer treatments for months :P
A Candian women went to the doctor saying she didnt feel well, after a test the doctor said she contracted Breast cancer in the left brest, of course free health care would cover any treatment needed for this woman, nope she had to wait for the cancer to spread to her other breast. Just a little common fact europeans dont freak out its just the truth
Just a little common fact don't freak out its just the truth: Americans wait for cancer treatment. Claims are denied every day. People die in the U.S. because insurance doesn't cover care. You say that a Canadian woman is denied cancer treatment because she doesn't have it in both breasts. You know her personally or did you read this? See. this is why it's so hard to respect people like you. You are either too stupid to know that this is apocryphal or you are deliberately lying. Which is it?
I would love for you to provide the news article where you got that. Here's how the healthcare works in Canada, if your diagnosed with Cancer, you are put on a list for treatment, if the treatment needs to be done right away, your put to the top of the list, how do I know this, my mother had breast cancer, and didn't have to wait on a fucking list till it spread to the other breast, jesus christ your either a liar or your Glen Beck.
An american woman went to the doctor saying she didn't feel well. After 7 different tests, the doctor diagnosed her with lung cancer. However, she could not pay for her treatment at all, due to her coverage mysteriously vanishing. She could also not get new coverage, on the grounds that she now had a pre existing condition.
The cancer spread, and she died without ever reaching a hospital.
Exactly, it's all about keeping track of the uncovered and the reason and then forcing them to comply with the policy implemented, but better hope the Republicans never get a hold on it any time soon or they'll use it to their advantage to dictate who gets covered or not in the worse kind of way
McCain=74%, Obama=22%... where's the other four percent? I have to wonder if Cenk slipped up or if the poll was literally, "That Bad!", cause that's ruwl bad right there.
The reaction of business and of doctors to proposed healthcare reform is very similar to their reaction three decades ago, when health insurance companies insisted that either the doctor or the patient fill out all those forms describing action taken. Not us! That's not our job; we try to heal people, somebody else has to take care of the paperwork!
In fact some doctors turned away patients who could only pay through their insurance plans. Finally the idiots saw the light and we got to today.
lol leave it to Republicans to be stupid at everything, including lying.
Come on, guys: are these really the people that you would trust to know jack shit about health care? People who think that they can lie about Steven Hawking living where he ACTUALLY LIVES? I think it's safe not to trust people that stupid when it comes to complex things like health care.
I just find the whole death panel argument funny because in some ways the thing their scared of is exactly what their current system advocates...that and its ludicrous. If you believe that socialism creates death panels....you fail! There is no other way of putting it. I mean I tried to word that better but it cant be done. If you believe socialized medicine includes a death panels that are going to summary execute your grandma you fail! I cant believe people keep bring it up.
lol! i'm sure they polled a whopping 12 people too. i love how these "polls" somehow manage to get every single american to respond. it always amazes me when i hear "... x percent of americans..." really? they polled all americans? guess i was the only one in the country they forgot!
If you conduct a poll correctly, you only need to poll a bit over a thousand to be representational. It sounds unbelievable but there are ways to do it correctly with a limited number of people.
but there are so many factors to consider that make polls inaccurate. it depends on the poll population pool- where are they polling? it also depends on how they get respondents. are they visitors to a website? do they have to be unique registered users? are there random phone calls? are those calls going to land lines or cell phones? all of those factors make a huge difference. plus there is no regulation or accountability as to veracity of polls so it's all worthless.
As Ricky Gervais said: "Stephen Hawking,...comes from Oxford,...but talks with an American accent,...........poseur...."

cuteycindyhoney 1 year ago
cuteycindyhoney, if your doctor is "only" doing "industrial medical," then he really didn't quit. And, even if he quits that, someone else will fill his shoes. If there's a demand, there's a supply.
ReligiousZombie 1 year ago
@ReligiousZombie That's what i did mean. If someone gets hurt at work, they send him on over to MY doctor. I know I'm a little bitter. I've had the same family doctor since I was like twelve years old. I don't want to look for a new one!
cuteycindyhoney 1 year ago
@cuteycindyhoney really? are you lying or is he a crazy republican like you? Why would a doctor quit if his patients have health insurance? I thought they LIKED it when people had insurnace, so they get paid
grendelee 1 year ago
@grendelee Why are you saying I lied? Do you know me? Have we met? I had to find a new family doctor. The reason I stated is the reason he gave me.
cuteycindyhoney 1 year ago
@cuteycindyhoney well, seeing as you are putting highly political comments everywhere, i highly suspect your statement was political in origin. I am highly dubious of the coincidence of you finding a doctor having the same political zeal as you AND that a doctor would quit because MORE of his patients have health insurance. I hope this clarifies things for you.
grendelee 1 year ago
@grendelee Yes, I post comments about what I believe in. No, I was not telling lies about my family doctor. I did not "Find" him. I grew up knowing him. Lastly, I don't really give a flying fig if you believe me or not. I've thought it over today. I don't care if some guy I never will ever meet in real life thinks I'm telling lies. Have a nice life.
cuteycindyhoney 1 year ago
@cuteycindyhoney lol does each comment have another story about your life? Has your grandma been before the death panels? I believe that if you spread truth, more truth would be known. If you have to tell lies to defend your position, what does that say about your posiition?
grendelee 1 year ago
@grendelee OMG! I'm glad I have no link to my name or address here!. I'd be afraid of this person coming after me! All I said was my family doctor gave up his private practice to work only in industrial medicine. Why does this loony person have such a hard time believing this? I write online erotic stories. I've been told I have a vivid imagination. If I was to lie, it would be a hell of a lot better then my doctor switched to industrial medicine! Signed, Honey Moon.. PS. Grendelee is an ass.
cuteycindyhoney 1 year ago
@grendelee One more PS. grendelee, I don't care what you say about me, but who the hell do you think you are making asinine comments about my grandmother? It's the standard liberal tactic. When all else fails, attack the opponent's family! I bet you feel real big and bad making such tasteless comments about a member of my family. Like I said before. I am so glad you have no way to track me. You probably thought I'd be dumb enough to post my doctor's name so you could. Too bad for you I didn't!

@cuteycindyhoney
Excuse me, I have to ask you if you made that story about your doctor being forced to take patients he didn't want or if he told you that and you actually believed it. There is nothing in the health care bill that is anything like that. I know a bunch of conservative liars were screaming about a government take-over but that had no basis in reality. What you wrote was truly one of the dumbest things I have ever read regarding the health care paranoia.
jimbrown257 1 year ago

How high do you suppose the cancer survival rate is among uninsured Americans?

The reason doc's are gonna walk away is that they want to be paid a fair wage for their work. NOTICE how doc's are walking away from Medicaid patients - Why would they do that? Why NOT accept paying patients?
Because the GOV is going to give them the STIFFY right in backside - insane paperwork to collect fees and fee schedules that are not worth the work.
FreeAgain2 2 years ago
the docs in the "socialized" countries of europe and canada seem to be doing just fine...I guess with possible decrease in salary and lack of "fair wages," US docs will have to rethink that second Range Rover or that vacation home on the beach...what a pity!
flyabout724 2 years ago 7
dude, sorry, but you're a fucking idiot. its funny how you are putting down doctors' lifestyles when you have no idea what you're talking about.
"will have to rethink that second range
rover"????
your ignorance shines with that comment.... the problem is that doctors have less and less freedom to practice medicine, while insurance companies and lawyers(people who don't have a clue about medicine) are the ones calling the shots now... so of course docs are pissed off, you would be too
poops1 2 years ago
Did you know that the American health care system has the highest cancer survival rates in the entire world?
People fly from all over the world to get treated in America.
Sure, lots of Americans lead unhealthy lifestyles. But cancer survival rate is perhaps the most objective way of comparing one country with another.
More the double the success rate of Britain and France.
MountAthos 2 years ago
I don't disbelieve that at all. Too bad 1/6 of the people in the U.S. don't have access to this care.
odannyboy000 2 years ago

chuchashawn 2 years ago
How many of those people are actually rich and can afford the high cost for treatment? How many poor people can afford the high cost for treatment.
Rich people can afford any kind of treatment they want, but it's not the same for the middle or working class, who can go bankrupt from just one hospital visit if they're uninsured.
Suzaku000 2 years ago 6
cancer is the most objec- wait, wut?
Like hell it is. The US just uses more x-rays and medical checkups.
Also, US actually does not have a much higher rate than Europe, more around 7-8% overall.
Check medscape, or wikipedia, etc. Of course, Europe has mostly socialized care, and so factoring in that, overall figures put Europe in the lead for cancer survival.

but Americans dont have too wait for their cancer treatments for months :P
A Candian women went to the doctor saying she didnt feel well, after a test the doctor said she contracted Breast cancer in the left brest, of course free health care would cover any treatment needed for this woman, nope she had to wait for the cancer to spread to her other breast. Just a little common fact europeans dont freak out its just the truth
MeetthePancake 2 years ago
Just a little common fact don't freak out its just the truth: Americans wait for cancer treatment. Claims are denied every day. People die in the U.S. because insurance doesn't cover care. You say that a Canadian woman is denied cancer treatment because she doesn't have it in both breasts. You know her personally or did you read this? See. this is why it's so hard to respect people like you. You are either too stupid to know that this is apocryphal or you are deliberately lying. Which is it?
hamnose 2 years ago 2

Also, you're a retard. Canadians aren't European.
And the list system makes sense.

If you conduct a poll correctly, you only need to poll a bit over a thousand to be representational. It sounds unbelievable but there are ways to do it correctly with a limited number of people.
LifeUntilLove 2 years ago
but there are so many factors to consider that make polls inaccurate. it depends on the poll population pool- where are they polling? it also depends on how they get respondents. are they visitors to a website? do they have to be unique registered users? are there random phone calls? are those calls going to land lines or cell phones? all of those factors make a huge difference. plus there is no regulation or accountability as to veracity of polls so it's all worthless.
