The American people wanted nothing to do with the war in Europe, or the Pacific for that matter. About 90% were agaianst it. This was done because it was believed that Hitler was a greater immediate threat to the United States than Japan was. I'm sure if I were a FIlipino, I would feel differently, but I believe that this was the 'correct' strategy in trying to deal with both of these threats at the same time. The main reason that the Germans lost the war is that they tried to fight on two fronts, and the USA could have too.

Oh please. The American military has gotten softer. They lose 3000 soldiers in Afghanistan and Iraq, everyone talks about losing the war. The German Wehrmacht lost 10000 men a day in Russia and yet they still fought bravely. Both east and west fronts were brutal enough. My father, who had surrendered to the US Army in Italy, was transferred to a POW camp in Erbisoeul, Belgien, where the British guards starved all of the German prisoners, shooting at those who ventured to use the open trenches to deficate and urinate. @dutchforces The Japanesse had the worst treatment of war prisoners than any other country. In china they used the people in they controlled as tragets and use new techniques to totured prisoners. Like how they would take a chinese men and stab them just below the heart where it won't kill them but put them in pain. Then when the u.s. was getting closer to the country they started to burn the prisoners so they wont tell how they were treated.

But from what I heard from a good friend of mine who served in 506th Airborne during WWII, americans gave German POWs pretty decent conditions. 2 rolls of toliet paper, 1 pack of cigerettes and such.
if you want an example of how much more brutal the ostfront was compared to the western front...just look at the troops that came from there and were transfered to the western front. look at veteran German soldiers on Omaha and what they did.....or SS-Obstuf. Wittmann....destroyed an entire allied tank column with a single tank.
Germany lost the war the day they declared war on the USA. The sleeping giant they awakened was the industrial might of America which overwhelmed the Germans and the Japanese simultaneously. I'm sure the Germans fought bravely but were hampered by Hitlers meddling and eventually the lack of equipment and fuel. After the Battle of the Bulge, German forces never went on the offensive again. It's a shame that men like Claus Shenk Graf von Stauffenberg didn't kill him in 1944.
The sleeping giant they actually awakened was Russia in 1941. The bulge offensive in late 44 was a foregone conclusion, and every single military commander knew it was utterly doomed, as they knew those reserves of men and tanks were much more needed on the eastern front.
You are way too high on propaganda. In the broader terms the US military didn't do shit. Operations like Normandy used to occur three times a day on the Eastern Front. If there is anything worth mentioning it may be the US industry.

Okay I didn't mean it literally, but Normandy is inflated beyond any measure of sensibility. Even when the landing took place there was a many times bigger Soviet offensive 'in support' of the western landing taking place. The one which resulted in the destruction of Army Group Center., the biggest German defeat. So even at that moment Normandy counted for nothing more than holding a few German division in the west.
not to mention that the entire 15th German Army, 12th SS, just to name a few divisions, but It (D-Day) did start the final front in Europe, if there was no major offensive in the West, then 80% of the German units in the West would have been used against the Soviets, also dont forget about all the new weapon developments the Germans were working on, and put out in the field would have been used extensively against the Soviets
Point taken, but then again, it was the FINAL FRONT. This front didn't open until after it was well established that German is already defeated. At best Normandy helped bring the war to an end than it would have been otherwise. Of course I mean the invasion of Germany and not necessarily the liberation of France. BTW the Soviets were working on their own new weapons, even if Germany was way ahead there is a almost certainty that Germany would have been defeated.
Now I am not saying that Normandy invasion was peanuts, but the way its referred to in the Western propaganda to this day, makes my blood boil. There is NOTHING they can tell me that I will blindly trust.
to be honest, the only reason D-Day is overblown is because it was an amphibious invasion, if you really think about it, I highly doubt that the Soviets, or Germans for that matter could pull off an amphibious assault on that magnitude, and be successful, now dont get me wrong I understand the price paid by the Soviets, but they didnt do it all on their own, if THEY had marched into Paris, I might think otherwise, but they didnt and probably couldnt have done so.
You have to agree, towards the end, the Soviets would have loved to have marched as much to the west as they could have (without ruffling the western Allies's feathers). I understand where you are coming from and its nice to know you do the same.
Normandy should be considered on the basis of the amphibious assault that it was, heck the German lost the war because they couldn't carry out their invasion of England.
But its the image of Normandy being decisive that I cannot agree with. Normandy alone could never have defeated Germany. Soviets alone most probably, eventually would have.

Besides, the US had been itching to go into the war for a long time, they had lots of machinations in the background.

@mushu144 Japan wasn't colonializing (establishing their type of government in a place where no other government existed), they were invading other countires, toppling their governments, and setting up their own puppet government. The American people wanted nothing to do with the war in Europe, or the Pacific for that matter. About 90% were agaianst it. Roosevelt on the other hand, did want to get into it, but of course he was being controlled by the Jews.

@mushu144 This is true, the US did give the war in Europe priority to the one in the Pacific. This was done because it was believed that Hitler was a greater immediate threat to the United States than Japan was. I'm sure if I were a FIlipino, I would feel differently, but I believe that this was the 'correct' strategy in trying to deal with both of these threats at the same time. The main reason that the Germans lost the war is that they tried to fight on two fronts, and the USA could have too.

@mushu144 no not really you forget in 1942 there was the battle of guadal canal, the battle of the strait by the australia, and the biggest blow to the japanesse naval fleet the battle of midway that destroyed 65% of their navy and airforce. by the end of 42 the japanesse lost most of their forces to move to island to island but their men on land had better chances to survive.

Oh please. The American military has gotten softer. They lose 3000 soldiers in Afghanistan and Iraq, everyone talks about losing the war. The German Wehrmacht lost 10000 men a day in Russia and yet they still fought bravely. Maybe not as advanced as today's military, but the Wehrmacht has a ferocity that would make angered lions look like frightened kittens.

Both east and west fronts were brutal enough. My father, who had surrendered to the US Army in Italy, was transferred to a POW camp in Erbisoeul, Belgien, where the British guards starved all of the German prisoners, shooting at those who ventured to use the open trenches to deficate and urinate. Obviously, the weak prisoners often drowned in the urine and feces, to the rousing applause of the British guards. Only through the intervention of the International Red Cross did any survive!!

@dutchforces The Japanesse had the worst treatment of war prisoners than any other country. In china they used the people in they controlled as tragets and use new techniques to totured prisoners. Like how they would take a chinese men and stab them just below the heart where it won't kill them but put them in pain. Then when the u.s. was getting closer to the country they started to burn the prisoners so they wont tell how they were treated.

But I do know that the US gave prob the most respect to the Germans out of the Allies, even to this: in the USA, a German officer(in a POW camp) was admitted into a Officers Club, while a black Officer in the US army was not permitted, so I wouldnt say that the US didnt show any respect to the Germans

But from what I heard from a good friend of mine who served in 506th Airborne during WWII, americans gave German POWs pretty decent conditions. 2 rolls of toliet paper, 1 pack of cigerettes and such.

if you want an example of how much more brutal the ostfront was compared to the western front...just look at the troops that came from there and were transfered to the western front. look at veteran German soldiers on Omaha and what they did.....or SS-Obstuf. Wittmann....destroyed an entire allied tank column with a single tank.

Germany lost the war the day they declared war on the USA. The sleeping giant they awakened was the industrial might of America which overwhelmed the Germans and the Japanese simultaneously. I'm sure the Germans fought bravely but were hampered by Hitlers meddling and eventually the lack of equipment and fuel. After the Battle of the Bulge, German forces never went on the offensive again. It's a shame that men like Claus Shenk Graf von Stauffenberg didn't kill him in 1944.

Okay I didn't mean it literally, but Normandy is inflated beyond any measure of sensibility. Even when the landing took place there was a many times bigger Soviet offensive 'in support' of the western landing taking place. The one which resulted in the destruction of Army Group Center., the biggest German defeat. So even at that moment Normandy counted for nothing more than holding a few German division in the west.

not to mention that the entire 15th German Army, 12th SS, just to name a few divisions, but It (D-Day) did start the final front in Europe, if there was no major offensive in the West, then 80% of the German units in the West would have been used against the Soviets, also dont forget about all the new weapon developments the Germans were working on, and put out in the field would have been used extensively against the Soviets

Point taken, but then again, it was the FINAL FRONT. This front didn't open until after it was well established that German is already defeated. At best Normandy helped bring the war to an end than it would have been otherwise. Of course I mean the invasion of Germany and not necessarily the liberation of France. BTW the Soviets were working on their own new weapons, even if Germany was way ahead there is a almost certainty that Germany would have been defeated.

to be honest, the only reason D-Day is overblown is because it was an amphibious invasion, if you really think about it, I highly doubt that the Soviets, or Germans for that matter could pull off an amphibious assault on that magnitude, and be successful, now dont get me wrong I understand the price paid by the Soviets, but they didnt do it all on their own, if THEY had marched into Paris, I might think otherwise, but they didnt and probably couldnt have done so.

You have to agree, towards the end, the Soviets would have loved to have marched as much to the west as they could have (without ruffling the western Allies's feathers). I understand where you are coming from and its nice to know you do the same.
Normandy should be considered on the basis of the amphibious assault that it was, heck the German lost the war because they couldn't carry out their invasion of England.

they would break down in the field, and have to wait for parts from the rear, to replace them. They didnt have the luxury the Russians had at Kursk, the Germans, used almost 9 different types of tanks, sp guns, and tank destroyers, and when a Panzer 4 broke down, they couldnt use parts off of the Panthers, or SPG's, but the Russians, had so many T34's there, they could just get parts almost whenever they needed too.

I think ur right, it looks almost like a Hetzer or Jagdpanther, could even be a Jagdtiger, see that was the main problem of the German Army, THEY HAD WAY TOO MANY TANKS/ ARMOURED VEHICLES, if you look at the Allies, all the US had were Lee's, Chaeff's, Stuarts, and Shermans, Soviets had T34's, Kv series, and by the end of the war up to the T70, the Germans had Pnzr I-IV, Panther, Tiger, King Tigers, Stugs, Jadg series, Elefant, Nashorn, Maurder series, and Sturm Tigers, they were all good but

Die Russen haben Volksgrenadiere abgeschossen, also Truppen ohne jegliche Ausbildung bzw. Kampferfahrung.4.) Mal ganz ehrlich. Wir brauchen uns nicht mehr zu schämen was damals passiert ist. Ich bin kein Nazi, ich bin kein Neonazi und auch kein Nationalist. Diese Marschlieder haben evt einen hintergrund, aber diesen darf man nicht immer damit zusammenführen bzw. ich steh auch auf Wehrmacht, Uniformen, Flugzeuge, Panzer etc aber ich bin das gegenteil eines Nationalsozialisten. Ist halt schwer damit umzugehn. Wir sind keine Erben der Geschichte!

ich denke nicht! Die Lockheed Martin F-117 Nighthawk ist ein Tarnkappenbomber der von einem Deutschen Prototypen stammt! Genau wie die Apollo Trägerraketen die eine weiter entwicklung der deutschen V2 Rakte sind! Dies war nur durch entwicklungen die durch Werner von Braun durchgeführt wurden einem DEUTSCHEN!

Würde ich so nicht sehen. Die Deutschen haben immerhin Düsenflugzeug und Raketenantrieb entwickelt, um nur einiges zu nennen. Trotzdem war der Krieg scheisse, keine Frage.
Aber es ist ein Soladatenlied, ich kenne es sogar aus der Legion. Also streitet euch nicht über Nazischeisse.

Es steht eben nicht nur für schlechtes! Wohl in Geschichte nicht aufgepasst. Das Hakenkreuz ist in seiner alten Symbolik ein Glücks- und Fruchtbarkeitssymbol. Nur weil Hitler zu faul war sich ein eigenes "Logo" zu entwerfen, ist das Hakenkreuz eben nicht nur für schlechtes!!
