@Odiculeoj No it is now only available with the tone control. However, a lot of people (myself included), find that the tone control just slightly up from 'unity' is a really good sound. If you don't want the extra treble boost, if you dial the tone all the way back it will be like it is not there..!!! (Jason)
There's no question about it, Brian's Ego Compressor is the single best compressor (pedal) available on the market, bar none. In fact, its better than most rack-mounted (studio grade) compressors costing hundreds of dollars more, and I know, because I've tried or own most of them. Don't waste your time evaluating the others - buy this one and you won't regret it! Its clean, quiet and the single best pedal (of any kind) that I've ever owned.
would this be a good compressor to make a cool mark knopfler sound for Sultans of swing. I mean, if you still can get the bite and dynamic from this, when turning the blend down, but still get the sustain and fat tone.... It's just a thought...
many felt the bright switch was too subtle, so we asked which way they used it. They liked it on so that is how it is wired. Look for another compressor of the same design with a tone control coming soon though.
Man I just recieved mine and have been an avid Keeley user for years but let me tell ya...this is the cleanest, un-altered guitar tone I have ever had plus this thing is so quite...The Keeley seems to add a mid low color and I got use to that as part of my tone and liked it untill I plugged in the Ego Compressor.... Brian, you are the man!!! keep up the excellent work...wow!
I have one, and let me tell ya, if your in the market for a Keeley, take a look at the Ego. It did the job for me, and it costs less. You need to take the time, like anything else, to set it just right. It is a professional piece of gear. Thumbs up from Welsh, LA!
Very nice sounding compressor ... is this still available in this configuration without a tone control knob> Like the fixed neutral positioning ...
