You're right that C isn't an inferior key in any way. On the other hand "warm"?! I Don't know about that, it's really not the key of the song that delivers the warmth. And there's no key that's right for any type of movie either! It all depends on the voices, where do the vocals sit the best, that's the deciding factor.

I've met him, no joke.

i was working in a posh performing arts camp last summer, and he visited to give a performance.

he answered your questions, i'll say what i can remember:

1. his favourite technically is actually the hunchback of notredame soundtrack. quite surprising!

2. he mentioned lots of things, but he says he is pushed on by seeing the sheer enjoyment people of all ages get from his work.

i told him he wrote the soundtrack to my childhood. he was pleased.
