  • 1812 Overture:

  • Bravo!

  • God Himself

  • 2:12 is that seriously just a really prominent overtone??? 'cause it sounds like a soprano singing, but they're singing inner voice material at this point. However, when sopranos do come in 2:16, they're a little flat and slide up to the note. lol

  • ¡ Amazing ! It reminds me of a german band from the early XX century called Comedian Harmonist.

    Amazing work!

  • monkeys with typewriters

  • the guild that is named the babies force :D

  • the sopranoes are soooooooo good!!

  • Агимн Америки почему они не сделали китчем? Ну поют... ну фальшиво... ЗАЧЕМ? В оркестре это все равно сильно лучше звучит.

  • Incredibili :D

  • Come si fa a resistere?

  • They don't come close to being as good as the instrumental version but their effort is tremendous.

  • beautiful harmonies, melodies, intonation, dynamics, basically everything. marvelous performance!!!!!

  • OMG 1:14 what a voice!

  • They were SPLENDID... I first heard them in Bach's "Variations on the G string" back in the '60's. and I've been hooked since. One of the girls came to give an "a solo" concert of her own in my town's theatre: WHAT A VOICE!!! The audience was spellbound. Is the group still (2011) in existence?

  • Фантастика, ничего подобного в своей жизни не видел и не слышал! Какая техника, какой юмор!

  • does justice to the original. simply fantastic

  • @drpibbandmrpepper They are not the orginals. The originals are the french "Swingle Singers" group from the 60s. You can see videos of them by searching "Swinger singers" on Youtube (the Youtube user who uploaded their videos has mistaken their name).

  • @ReCa83 i meant to Tchaikovsky's original, but interesting tidbit, thanks!

  • whoah

  • Starting bars with the hymn reminded me of the Spem in alium, the forty-part Renaissance motet by Thomas Tallis.

  • Love it!!

  • 24 people belong to Napoleon's army.

  • It's great!! :-)))

  • Das Fantastishe!

  • lol

  • it's sort of fun, more for its novelty value than for any aesthetic reason

  • The sound of the shells coming in is a nice touch.

  • In spite of their clowning around, these folks are so good! They introduced alot of us to classical music, by making it lively and entertaining as well as beautiful.

  • KSSSSHHHH! they're so cheesey, but its hilarious and awesome!

  • awesome

  • WOOOWWWWW HAHAHAHAHAHAHA THATS AWESOME

  • Also known as the people they put inside your SNES cartridges to make the music for your games.

  • ¡Está genial!

  • "Penguin concerT"

  • I thought they were really tight before people of my age even knew about them from Glee

  • Very clever.

  • It is even more fun when you see them in person! I have gotten to see them twice. I aughed till I hurt! But they do have gorgeous, well trained voices as well. The kssshhhhh is the sound of the cymbals as well as the match put to the canon's powder!

  • @Lillibet60 I'm excited to get to see them in February!

  • It is even more fun when you see them in person! I have gotten to see them twice. I aughed till I hurt! But they do have gorgeous, well trained voices as well.

  • Marvelous! I forgot where I was and started applauding, myself. I haven't thought of the Swingle Singers in something like 35 years. I'd never seen them perform until now, and I must say they put on a good show, clowning around as they sing. I'm going to watch all these vids now.

  • This is fabulous!! :D

  • hahaha i love the bit where he wipes the spit off himself then wipes it on the other guy and the other guy does this strange little dance thing :') amazing video, love it

  • Who cares if they do cheesy actions while singing. It is actually really fun. You wouldnt know, because you are just an observer. But really, who gives a damn about you. They are having fun, I can tell. This is what music geeks look like when they rock out. Deal with it.

  • Hats off

  • acapella legen

  • (continued) If you had actually sung in a choir then you would know how much raw talent piled on top of rehearsal time it would take to perform this piece at such a high level. Yes, the actions are cheesy, but it was a different time. I for one am prepared to forgive them for the cheddar as long as I have permission to shut my eyes, listen and enjoy my day.

  • @Schamschi: I'm sorry you can't appreciate such an amazing a cappella group. Believe it or not this was actually written sung and recorded before family guy existed, so I can't see why you made such a bizarre reference to (I agree) a rather shitty show. If you listened to the original you might find that they imitate an orchestra bloody well! Their sound is very clean and crisp, and the chords ring perfectly. (continued)

  • lol that was the shit

  • @Schamschi you are just a terrible person. you ruined my day.

  • @Schamschi you are just a terrible person. thanks for ruining my otherwise pretty good day.

  • @Madhatter1781 I am sorry for you that a mere Youtube comment that contains a simple review/opinion of a musical performance is enough to ruin an entire day for you. But if you're that easily put down, you might consider not reading Youtube comments at all.

  • Wow... I didn't count how many times this made me laugh out loud. In fact, I never even got started because there was no first time. These "gags" are less funny than the most boring Family Guy gags, and that is saying something. And don't get me wrong, it's not because I'm comparing this to the original, because I don't even know the original. On the contrary, at the beginning, I thought "Wow, this might even amount to something good" (and I should add at this point that I (continued...)

  • fantastico

  • awsome!

  • what year was this performed?

  • I love that the plane that was dropping the bombs...lands.

  • Brilliant! :)

  • this footage looks good from 1812

  • Awesome!

  • This is so cool! Amazing!

  • Brilliant!

  • HAHAHA! that was fantastic. most entertaining arrangement of the overture i've ever heard/seen!

  • LOL god super clever and funny

  • superb, dramatic, masterly

  • people might get told what to sing or do it for attention

  • Acappella (無樂器伴奏合唱) 那是中世紀教堂中所發展出來無樂器伴奏人聲合唱音樂

  • Very clever!

  • This was a cool vid.. but not what I thought it was 8(

  • Rubbish! For the ones who can't enjoy the classics seriously!

  • You mean the snobby douchebags? No thank you, I'll take this over those wastes of oxygen anyday. :)

  • @flugel76 no, i mean the real BACH, the real Tchaikovsky, the real Orchestra.

  • @Nusq7 Dead, dead, and almost dead. At least it's still getting performed, I don't care what the medium is.

  • @Nusq7

The real Bach, the real Tchaikovsky, and so on are dead. Whatever you hear today are interpretations of their work. And why not this one?

  • @Nusq7

This IS serious. Every note is as originally written. That's the whole point.

  • @Nusq7

Tell me: Why should I take the classics always seriously? I do it when I feel like it. And I take them easy when I want to. Have you ever read about Mozart? How much fun he had in his life and with his music? I want to take the classics at least as much easy as I take them seriusly.

  • HAHAHA =D it's also funny

  • pitchy:( but still quite amazing!!!!!

  • Brilliant!

  • Strepitosi!!! TOP CLASS!!!

  • amazing=)

BUT, does anyone think that the expression on the womens face is like that of Stefford Wives?

  • That is actually very amazing!

  • ✯That was AWESOME! ✯

  • I am amazed - beautiful performance!

  • Incredible vo-vo-vo-vo-vo-vocal performance.

  • Semplicemente fantastici!

  • HAHAH that is FUN! :D

  • Brilliant!

  • saranno pure bravi, ma si sente troppo la mancanza dell' "orchestra" e della sua relativa forza ...

  • ben parry!!

  • Tuxedos on stage, tuxedos in the audience. People had class back then...

  • People had *class* back in the 70's or 80's?

  • Whew, I was worried they were going to leave out the Quasimoto part! Glorious as always! Such fun!

  • genius!

  • Love it, one of my favourite pieces of classical music done by the human voice

  • Wow, that was amazing!!

  • Awesome and funny!!!

  • by whom is this piece?

  • Tchaikovsky

  • @phlarrdboi Tchaikovsky

  • I love both swingle singers and king singers xD

  • middle class shite? WTF are you talking about?

  • hahaha well funny.

but does repeating "utter" make it stronger? I think once you have said "utter" that covers it.

  • Friends? What the hell?!? This is music, not a popular show. (But I agree, it's quite funny...-_-°)

  • does the guy on the far left remind anyone else of Monica's ex boyfriend on Friends? the one thats older than her, can't remember the name, Richard or summit :P

    This is amazing though :)

  • @evelynof14 for the crash (like in drums)

  • Hilarious... pity about the hiss in the audio though. :(

  • yh still good but kinda spoils it for us :(

  • E' incredibile come l'intonazione sia davvero perfetta, nemmeno una sbavatura, sono davvero grandiosi.

  • this is the most amazing group I have ever heard, I first heard them in the 80's. I love that they sing classical music. Its complex enough with instruments. They are extremely talented.

  • The best ever!

  • What a beautiful thing...

This song is great, and the voices...

    OMG

  • Cool!

  • LOL The guy at 2:12 scared the crap outta me! Very enjoyable though, thanks to Adelfred for the share :0) 5*

  • One of my favorite since I was kid, for some reason they were played a lot in danish radio. And they are so good...

  • ... must be something to do with some kind of universal language. I think though it's because this group makes this music accessible !! They're Fabulous. thanks for the Share adelfred.

  • Were there machine guns by 1812? lol

  • nah they weren't around until the late 1800's

  • actually 1700-1799 would be the 18th century, but 1800's would be 1800-1899 (which would be the 19th century).

  • I had no idea - thanks for the info.

And iwanabana I think the sounds your talking about are fireworks

  • what you are hearing is not a machine gun nor fireworks. It believe it is a supposed to be a drum roll on a snare drum.

  • they are.. they are trying to immitate cannons.. then there are crash cymbals as well

  • bello!!

  • To the classical elitists: There are so many legitimate ways to make good music. This is one of them, and a very good and amusing one.
