In Bosnia, Europe blocked Clinton proposal to lift the arms embargo against the BiH Government along with massive airstrikes against the Serbs because it fear it would lead to retaliation against the UNPROFOR.

Clinton was wrong for not launching full airstrikes in 93', and the Europeans, they wanted to do nothing to begin with. Luckily he learned his lesson in Kosovo and saved those people. And to the people who say it was wrong cause both sids killed people. Yes there were some war crimes paticularly by the Croats, but 90% of the civilian attrocities were commited by the Serbs, and the Bosniaks and Croats negotiated an agreement while the Serbs continued the massacres.

Plus the Serbs threatened to shell the entire compound, potentially killing all 30,000 refugees and invading and killing the Dutch troops if the Dutch opened fire, which they tried once to threaten the Serbs. Of course the true victims are the 8,000 massacred by the Serbs, but the thats a hell of a decision to say "ok, we can ignore the UN and open fire, which will kill our men, and get the refugees shelled. or we can go along with the serbs and negotiate them to let the women and children out?"

Its the UN's fault for not giving their Dutch forces the authority to open fire or weapons to engage in combat if necessary. I feel bad for the Dutch troops (and citizens of Srebrenica obviously) ALSO held hostage by the Serbs and yes they could have opened fire and they requested airstrikes which were denied by the UN, but they were ordered not to bring body bags home directly and it would be a death sentence to fight the Serbs artillary.

It is true that the Serbs were the major victims of WWII along with the Jews in Yugoslavia. But they used this victimization as a justification of their aggression in the 1990s. First they fought the Croats and Bosnians, then they made a back door deal with the Croats to wipe away the Bosniaks. . . pretty much because they were Muslims. Just because the Serbs were victims in WWII shouldn't have given them the right to destroy the Bosniaks.

I personally feel that NATO should have intervened in Bosnia earlier and should have NOT done so in Kosovo AT ALL, for the reasons you mentioned vis-a-vis the KLA. However, you can't deny that Milosevic used his army to uproot thousands of people from their homes - because of their ethnicity. I know Kosovo is important Serb history, but the people there now wanted their independence. I'm wondering what the IJC will do.

You are exactly right, there should be and independent Republika Srpsak. The American press was out to tell a particular story. According to U.N. documents I have seen there were nearly an equal number of Serbs who were displaced/killed in the conflict, where was the reporting on this ... not a single Serb mother crying?
