  • Wolfgang Petersen knows how to make gripping movies. Check out Das Boot..or In the Line of Fire etc etc etc...

  • i heard mark wahlberg really did almost drown in the last scene. but i dunno how true it is though. but at least everything came out alright in the end including him and the movie

  • That damn line always gets me "this is gonna hard on my little boy...." :'(

  • If only they had not gone forward.I was in tears.

  • This is a Rogue wave

  • This was no laughing matter and based on a true story.

  • @seekhim777

    Hello From France,

    That's correct

  • It was an anxious moment to watch during the movie alright. But, quite fake. Using the 79-foot fishing boat as a scale, I estimate that to be an impossibly high 500-foot wave. Also, the wave crested and broke over the ship after the Gail feel back into the trough. That much water would generate billions of pounds of pressure per square foot, the and boat and everything in it would have been as flat as an onion skin

  • @mnpd007 It was an anxious moment to read your comment alright. But, it was quite stupid. Using big words as a scale, i estimate comment that to be an impossibly retarded analysis. Also, the movie is from hollywood and is completely inaccurate. That much inaccuracy would generate billions of dollars and the actors, directors, and the industry would be as rich as kings

  • @ProNikegod

While I suffered no anxiety in reading your comment, I confess that I have no idea what you just said.

  • More like a tsunami...

  • One tip: Do NOT ever watch Titanic and this movie back to back. I did and it traumatized me.

  • Comment removed

  • i saw it go down secretly pretend when he comes good luck

  • i will like to announce that tuna and other sorts of fish donations were cut off by an intruder at all food banks cats are not fed dog food not soon cell phones and baby pictures are stolen phones are thrown doors are broken please announce good luck out there donald did get married where only freinds not seen sigining in

  • What's the name of the music playing during this scene? I feel like I've heard it in another (more recent) movie. The 'duh-nuh-de-neeehhh' trumpet bit. Looked up the soundtrack, but couldn't work it out. Good movie though...

  • @ProNikegod sounds very similar to the battle scene in avatar

  • @ProNikegod sound similar to music from the land before time.

  • @ProNikegod Sounds a bit like enemy at the gates.

  • i ended up crying when this scene happened and i still do

  • no school for it, never was.

  • i love this movie hear at brazil is ''mar em furia'' exciting movie

  • "it's gonna be hard on my little boy" gets me every time.

  • Perfect Storm episode is showing 8pm Animal Planet US Nov 2nd 2011

  • bring it on BEEYOTCH!

  • Look out for 'Perfect Storm' episode of 'I Shouldn't Be Alive' premiering on Animal Planet US on 2nd November to coincide with 20th anniversary of these incredible real events. 1991 October 30th - the Perfect Storm

  • did that wave just roar?

  • I live on an island... so this would suck for me.

  • The perfect storm is a little Like poseidon mean Big Giant waves people trying to be saved from the sea

  • @videomaker359 Nope, you misundestand the whole story line.... Gotta watch the movie again pal. U_U

  • @videomaker359 wow. you know this is based on a real story.

  • later that day the very same rogue wave hit the S.S. POSIDEN :)

  • Shieeett If I saw that wave, I would surf the hell out of it.

  • is there any wave bigger than a rogue wave?

  • @MyDude1991 Maybe in a very special, rare case a tsunami would be, but technically a tsunami is not a wave, so nope.

  • @MyDude1991 a rogue wave basicly means a random wave alot bigger than surrounding waves

  • @SYRUPnSPRITE It's not random, a rogue wave is just a couple of crests of smaller waves approaching one spot, amplifying one another by doing so.

@Dinoenthusiastguy A tsunami is a wave too ofcourse. It's just of an entirely different kind than normal windwaves because of it's wavelength. Wavelengths of tsunami's average about 100 km while large windwaves won't go over 250 meters. Tsunami's will never be deepseawaves however, because a deepseawave will need half it's wavelength of waterdepth.

  • they should have waited it out, putting your life in jeporady doesnt prove anything, if you survive, then your lucky..

  • man...when watching his movie as a whole....well...im 23...and a guy...these final scenes get me very time. If you dont at least get a single tear...idk

  • COME ON YOU BITCH!!!!

  • That why I keep my ass on land and not in the ocean. And If I did seen a wave like that coming toward me I would take a shit in the ocean before it would take me and say this is for you.

  • @ladyyuna2000 lmao

  • If I saw a wave that big, I'd shit in my pants for sure.. O.O

  • @SwathedHawk812 lol

  • i'm getting a nightmare now

  • screw hurricane grace that thing sank like 20 ships

  • am i bad for thinkin "what a waste of fish" ?

  • @wert1074 holly shiiiiiiit bro u serious bout this?

  • i wouldnt know what to do in that situatin where i was about to drown...man that part of the movie tears at me

  • Comment removed

  • @wert1074 You do know "the perfect storm" is just a movie right?? All the actors on there are just portraying the actual guys who died. Mark Wahlberg is well and alive today and so are the other actors....

  • That is the perfect OH SH*T moment.

  • As soon as I saw that wave when first watched the movie, I knew they were all going to die... Still, hell of a fight they put in, as Wahlberg said.

  • BAWWWWWWWWWWWWWW

  • god this movie is so fuckin sad

  • A wave wouldnt break out in the ocean like that.

  • @ShellShockHQ Actually, a wave can break in the ocean like that. When you have a rogue wave that forms from the merging of the crests of two or more waves, they can potentially reach a height and speed where the top of the wave travels faster than the bottom of the wave, and thus the wave breaks.

  • @BetaGrey ive been proven wrong haha.

  • scary gigant wave

  • surfin u.s.a

  • I'll be honest. I cried the first time I saw this.

  • @losangelescardinals i balled my eyes out. :( i still do.

    lmao

  • @ABABYX0

    cause your a pussy :)

  • @nflpanthersO7 You get no pussy.

  • Holy crap, look at those waves. O_o I'd be terrified if I were there.

  • So what happened to the guy in the yellow jacket in the movie?

  • Did anyone else see Bhodi from Point Break?

  • Is it wrong that I got incredibly pissed that he left ......Mark to surface all alone in that sht!?!?

  • they should of all been dead after the wave toppled the boat. that's hollywood

  • i saw that wave and crap my pants...

  • and also @Gojewla are you kidding that wave and the rest of the movies CGI is harrowingly real. read any review on this movie they will say that

  • @peterahjorter if you take 10 secinds to think how they might have found out basics for what happened you will understand. first of all the people who lived were aware that the boat was sinked and that all the crew died. and also they knew that they tried to sale through the storm and you can just use common since to figure our what it was like for them in real life. also as far as what they did on a "Fishing Boat" you can just use common since for that to

  • Its a bit funny about how its based on a true story when all onboard died. The true story could really only be told by those who were onboard the ship the movie is about

  • I AM SO HAPPY TO BE ALIVE DURING JAMES HORNER'S TIME :) HIS MUSIC HAS HAD SUCH A PROFOUND IMPACT ON MY LIFE :) :) :)

  • even mark wahlberg is like..fuckkk

  • This movie is very well crafted. The storm looks so real. i love this movie alot.

  • It's John Hawkes!

  • i was like WINWINWINWINWIN FAIIIIIIIIIILLLLLLLLLLLLL

  • I saw it on fox channel movie. It was something.. great the way they manage the cameras + how actors played their part.

  • It breaks my heart to know that this is based on a true story

  • i have never seen george clooney lose his cool like that in a movie

  • I would go down with George Clooney. Did I say "with"? I meant "on".

  • 3:43 - oh, that's right, it's a James Horner score.

  • @ZachChis LOLOLOL! I lol'd so hard xD

  • so instead of being a dumbass - they couldnt have turned around and rode the wave , wait til it passed and then turn back around and move on?

  • @carfan2k2 Seeing as it was "based on a true story," no, they couldn't have turned around and rode it out.

  • John C. Reilly is about to die and his final thoughts are: "This is gonna be hard on my little boy." Now that's what I call a father, his only concern facing certain death is the effect it will have on his son. As a guy that is usually typecast as a goofy comedic type, Reilly surprised me with how well he played his role.

  • @sonicblew Reilly has quite some good dramatic roles on his resumée. You should check them out. Just because he ain't that Hollywood-looking star doesn't mean he is only type-casted as the goofy idiot.

  • @reeft I'm the first to admit, I'm far less informed on film than I am on music. I see most of my films by accident or on repeat viewings of my old favorites. Any films in particular where I could see Mr. Reilly perform his craft dramatically? My main critique of him has been that I usually encounter him while my family/friends are watching a Will Ferrell movie or such, and I just can't bear it. Though I will say, as a Johnny Cash fan I enjoyed his role in the satirical "biography".

  • @sonicblew Magnolia, Cyrus, Aviator, Boogie Nights, Gangs of New York and so on, you can use google :) Besides Cyrus, he's mainly in the supporting cast but he's always doing a fine job.

  • @sonicblew I'd have to disagree.... the last thing he said was "don't touch my fucking drum set!" :P

  • @sonicblew you've never seen Gangs of New York have you?

  • moral: if you're gonna sink a boat and need a soundtrack, James Horner is your man.

  • No way I ment

  • @papiocutie He I there died by drowning or shark possibly because there no was that u could survive that with out a life jacket even then possibly not

  • @RossAllanMusic damn dude go back to elementary school and learn your grammar again !

  • I think that wave is perfect and looks absolutely real. There are 100 foot waves out there, if you're interested read the book, much better than the movie and describes more stuff than they even begin to show in the movie. I remember Mark Wahlberg had to keep a bucket nearby during this scene because he could not stop puking.

  • so evenyone deid epcart for that man

  • @papiocutie he died as well

  • @RossAllanMusic so what about they dagters

  • @RossAllanMusic so how did he die

  • 2:15 That's true man-friendship ! :)

    Perfect Scene - Perfect Movie

  • Let's just hope to god the bag of Cheetos at 1:50 survived

  • @psplayer444

    im laughing tears lol

  • @acavideo Are you saying the whole world should support China's "one child" policy?

  • and so ends the fate of the andre gail

  • All 6 of the crewmembers disliked this video...

  • "This is gonna be hard on my little boy" poor guy

  • it doesnt make me sad that he didnt leave the ship, but the fact he left his friend up there to watch him die

  • does anyone knows the name of the track playing when the ship is sinking????please msg me

  • @wildlifepreserver Rouge Wave. Took me 2 minutes on Spotify :D or Google soundtrack for movie ?

  • Billy (drowning): Bobby.... I'm sorry I got you into this

Bobby: You made the right call. We had to try. it was a hell of a fight, huh?

John Reilly: This is gonna be hard on my little boy.

  • Daaaaaaaaaammmm that's a big wave

  • man what this scene needs is an explosion ;D

  • masi oka, aka hiro from heroes, is one of the guys who created this cg wave :D

  • Super film.Jak oni to kęcili?

  • @acavideo

Are you suggesting that everyone remains in the freaking cave ? Rub sticks to fire ? AWESOME !

  • @naolicious

and are you suggesting that the excessive habits of the fishing industry, for example, represent the highest point of human progress?

  • @sagnier

Define excessive, how much is too much and how much is enough .. try to put urself in fishermen's shoes.

  • you know you wont make it when you have to fight gravity, XD

  • Rest easy longliners, In fair winds and calm seas...

  • does anyone know where i can find his last speech to her??

where he says Christina...can you hear me?!?!?

  • @adancingsuccess thats what im looking for

  • i hope one day they make a ship that can fight them big waves trust me they will

  • @babeboyp actually they did, ther eis a rescue boat that can roll about underwater for some time adn still go back up to original posision without endangering the crew

  • @r390gt1lm wow really

  • @babeboyp

There is always submarine if u can afford 'em

  • what's said between the two guys between 1:27 and 1:32? Can't fully make it out.

  • @JWlufc the one said how do you do it skip? and the other replied no school for it never was. (and if youre confused at the school part he ment they never tought how to get past those huge waves.

  • they shoulda kicked it in the balls probably saved them

  • That was wicked!

  • Comment removed

  • 1 that was is a bitch,

2 how did they like recreate a wave that big? i mean i cant remember when the movie was made so i dont know about computer generation

3 how did they get the crew to look like the ones who really sank with the andera gail? Andrea Gail may you and your crew R.I.P

  • That wave just screams CGI

  • @gojewla Well their hardly going to recreate a real 100 foot wave and charge a boat up it are they !?!

  • @fullonforce hahaha i know, what else are they supposed to do? It does look realistic

  • @fullonforce I think he means it didnt look real enough. Unfortunately a lot of CGI work is just plain shoddy in many films, a lot of FX artists may be too proud to to state that they cannot do what is asked of them well enough to give the studios a chance to find someone that can. This, Mummy Returns and the Star Wars Prequels prime examples

  • @fullonforce well they could have done a better job with the effect. It looks cartoonish

  • @fullonforce hahaha true that. yo like dude let's drop a trillion tons of rock in the water and create one :P

  • @gojewla You fucking RETARD!!! hahahahaha

  • is it me, or does the trumpet that starts after 1:04....seem like it belongs in a recent james cameron film?

  • @DeNoh It does indeed. The Perfect Storm was scored by the same person that scored Avatar. I too noticed the similar trumpet part.

  • @LazloSoot and troy

  • I have a question, I love the movie, and understand everything but one simple thing... After the ship is flipped over by the wave, Bobby and Skip have come up in the air pocket and Bobby says "How do we do this, Skip?" And then Skip says. "No school for it... never was" What exactly are they talking about? About how they done trying to fight the storm? Or about how they'll go about dying? That part always confused me.

  • @Chevypower265 yep how they go about dying

  • @Deathheads69 Thank you! I thought it was one of the two, but I was never really sure.

  • a true captain goes down with his boat..

  • stupid stupid stupid fuckers. the captain is the biggest idiot other than obama ive seen in long time

  • that what happens when you forget your brain at home. hate to say it but these were some the dumbest ppl on the planet.ya lets fucking sail in to a storm

  • @Gamecules Well see if they didn't all of that fish would of spoiled and they needed the money. So ya you would be stupid mother fucker. Also, if you watched the movie the captain asked and they took a vote. So like I said, you are the stupid fucker.

  • @STLRedbird11091 you'd risk your life for a little money? dads been a fisherman for 30 years reason hes still alive today and most of his friends arent is because everytime he got warning about a storm he'd goto town. Money isnt worth your life if you can help it.

  • If he was going full throttle and had to where he had a lot of speed on his side he could have made it. But still, what can do when that happens?

  • the boat was soo close to going over the wave!!

  • come on you bitch!

  • @movieking88 Heartbreaking

  • Where's the life raft?

  • do u think that the dude who did swim out of the boat would survive?

  • @aussiedog521, well, this is the North Atlantic. Hypothermia (10 minutes or less and poof, gone). Not to mention that no life jacket and oh, the full fisherman suit (rather heavy)...

  • Man all those poor fish.

  • why doesnt he leave the boat?

  • @aussiedog521 captain goes down with the ship... plus he knows that there is very little chance of survival. but mostly captain goes down with the ship.

  • @zyxJustinn if he had live they would have fried his stupid ass for killing all them ppl

  • Comment removed

  • @aussiedog521 Supposedly a captain does not leave his sinking ship. Kinda stupid if you ask me. Last time I saw the movie was like 5 years ago, I guess I changed now.

  • Wave created by Chuck Norris jumping from 5,ooo feet.

  • 這部片 船長也太天真了吧! 前方的浪潮你過來 別向前衝

    結果船長撇下了受困的船員

  • would be freaky as hell to be floating on top of the waves of that storm!

  • @carpentercorn definitely, especially if the waves go down and you dont get carried down with them, you will fall right down into the water from like 50 feet

  • this musc sounds a little like the battle scene in avatar

  • Wave created by chuck norris taking a yes in french

  • CGIlicious wave.

  • this movie is so sad :( but at the end is mark walhberg the only that lives..or does he end up dying to?? I almost cry ever time I see this part

  • @desireej10 all six crew members perished.

  • That wave is a bitch

  • i think it be scary drowning

  • @steaklover99 it's actually one of the most peaceful ways to die, i mean you do panic and all but when you actually start to drown it doesnt hurt, it has the same effects as if you were going to sleep
