Surprisingly enough there are loads of entertainers that work for even (and much!) less than these people. Having a job at the Cirque is not only a unique experience (where you get paid to do what you are very good at and travel the world!), but also actually quite a well paid job... For many performers it is a once in a lifetime opportunity that stays with you forever.

@deathlyartist Strenght does partake but it's more to do with Stamina, Agility and Balance.. when I say Stamina I mean the breath too keep yourself held up like that :)

I saw Dralion in Sydney last night and it was really awesome, my first Cirque du Soleil show. However, being near the end of the season I felt that some parts were not as good as they could be, such as this act not being in the show :-(
Also the ring jumping which I was really looking forward to was very short and they knocked the rings over twice, OK I can forgive them for that since it is very difficult, but it wasn't as long as it should have been.
I saw it in melbourne on the 9th of june, amazing show, i didnt realise they were in Australia when they had the Sydney showing as I live in Dubbo. Went all the way to Melbourne so i could see this!! In my showing she was handbalancing for atleast 8 minutes, and does alot more then in the video. They knocked the rings over on the very last jump, and stuffed up twice during the jump rope, 1 being the pyramid, they really struggled with it.
9th of june at 8pm. I was 5 seats back and 6 seats right from the center. Tapis rouge tickets, while i didnt use the reserved parking, the extra 100 dollars was worth the pre show lounge area. The seats were awesome, during the part where her feet were in front of her face and she was looking through the audience we made eye contact, such and amazing feeling, ive never been to a live show like this before.
Calvin can be heard on Solstrom, just search for aerial pas de deux solstrom, that's him singing "Ballare". Chad joined the show a month ago, so as far as I know no footage of him yet
But unless you saw it before 2003 you would have seen Irina someone... no where near as good as Olga Pikhienko. the original handbalancer in Varekai :P
Her name is Luan Leilei. Born in China, 18 June 1985. In Dralion she is alsow an acrobate with the Ballet on Lights, the Skipping Ropes and the Teeterboard.

when you look at the multi angles, this version is edited at the parts where she almost falls.
Personally I prefer seeing them almost make mistakes, it makes the stunt so much more real and you remember that they're just normal people up there.

In my showing she was handbalancing for atleast 8 minutes, and does alot more then in the video. They knocked the rings over on the very last jump, and stuffed up twice during the jump rope, 1 being the pyramid, they really struggled with it.
Was the trapese at yours? I didnt get to see it.

i think i was at the same show as you. that was the first time i went to see it.
in this act, the girl in melbourne was fantastic, she had her feet bent right over onto her head while balancing.

9th of june at 8pm. I was 5 seats back and 6 seats right from the center. Tapis rouge tickets, while i didnt use the reserved parking, the extra 100 dollars was worth the pre show lounge area. The seats were awesome, during the part where her feet were in front of her face and she was looking through the audience we made eye contact, such and amazing feeling, ive never been to a live show like this before.

Calvin can be heard on Solstrom, just search for aerial pas de deux solstrom, that's him singing "Ballare". Chad joined the show a month ago, so as far as I know no footage of him yet

Erik left the show a while ago, right now the singers are (in rotation) Calvin Braxton and Chad Oliver, though Calvin is expected to leave soon

this act is one of my favs in this show...just after Aerial pas de Deux.
I went and saw Dralion a few days ago, and the girl who performed this act was magnificant!
Also...this act is actually called Single Handbalancing, not Handbalancing on Canes as it is in Varekai.

You are right about that.
The act is called either Handbalancing, Handbalancing on Cane, or Single Handbalancing. Whatever works for you.
I decided to call it Handbalancing on Cane, simply because more people search that phrase on youtube, and is also a way to describe this act ;)

Yeh, Varekai is the best :D
But unless you saw it before 2003 you would have seen Irina someone... no where near as good as Olga Pikhienko. the original handbalancer in Varekai :P

Irina Naumenko joined AFTER 2003. Olga Pikhienko was there before her.
So if you think Handbalancing in Varekai was great after 2003, You love Irina Naumenko and not Olga
