I'm not an expert on the Japanese and Korean cultures but I feel both use fabric to wrap presents in slightly different ways. Each have their own unique touches and finishes. Also, unless someone can provide evidence as to who was the first person to use fabric to wrap anything, no culture can really claim it as their own. Before there were handbags, backpacks, wrapping paper, cardboard boxes and what not, I believe many countries around the world used fabric to wrap up goods!
