What Erethe said, this Fei-Yen pilot is a real wuss. The Battler's got some hilarious AI, just stand infront of it and it will CW CC you, almost guaranteed. Quick-step, RW CC-quick-step CC, it works every time -if- you're close enough. Also, more of the Fei-Yen's attacks would've hit, and done damage, if it had gotten in the Apharmd's face.
Great battle, but they really need to play on deathmatch mode. Fei-yen is inherently cheaper at drawing a battle out since she's so fast. Then again, the other person was playing the Battler instead of the Tongfer Apharmd.
Once i played this game at my friends house on the DreamCast i knew...I HAD TO GET IT!!! I still have this game on my DreamCast. I loved playing as Raiden. In training mode I'd break off his armor so he'd be fast as hell, then set my HP back to full, then set the HP back to normal and go up against the comp. A true combo of Speed & Power :D
Beat Virtual-On Marz on Ultimate using any of the default VRs except Temjin. Once you get good enough to do that, you'll very, very rarely run into someone who can beat you on live. Ironically, Marz is the worst game in the series, but playing it makes you much better at all the other games.
@Peetar I could barely beat the computer using the twin sticks, on difficult level 1. When you have trouble beating the computer at the lowest difficulty, you know one of two things is true. Either you just suck, or the game is brutally difficult.
I heard the same thing. Kotaku had a preview of it on their site, and not only did it have online, It also had customization ie: coloring of the virtuiods
TSSZ news (which is a reliable website for the latest video game news, mostly Sonic and other SEGA stuff) said Virtual On will have online capabilities. Their people are info hunters of the web and hackers, glitchers, and whatever else will get your info before it's known by the companies themselves.
I'm not bragging but as far as I can I remember, I beat like 7 grown up guys in our city without me losing (how can it not be?I'm the only V.O fan in that arcade!). But when I played the second version of this game, that's when I had difficult time in finishing this game.
You are freaking lying man! -goes off to check-... ... ...Holy shit! O_O I seriously hope its for the PS3/360...I'd hate Sega if they made it Wii exclusive just because of their "revolutionary" game controller...
actually, imagine how well VO:OT would work with the Wii-mote! sure, i hate the wii, but if i knew anything about wii-dev, i would have tried to recreate it by now.
Note in the comment for the video, this was played on MSBS ver 5.66. AKA 2000 edition, a NAOMI arcade exclusive. I don't think america ever officially got any. A pity, i'd kill for a set of that version, as it supported custom VR loading from a VMU port. Oh well, the DC version will tide me over. Now if only i had some twinsticks and a link cable...
Also note the QM (quick message) popups. These where also customizable via the VMU (on either the japanese version of OT, or the MSBS 5.6 custimization disk) And yes, as someone earlier commented, we got shafted. Badly.
Yes, however on the american version it is hidden. On the title screen, hold l, R, A, B, then press start, and the link play option will appear in the main menue weither or not a link cable is attached to the dreamcast.
I wish my VO:OT worked well enough to play the single player. It always freezes only on the single player and only on the Abandoned Quarry stage thingy.
Thanks for uploading this video, it takes me back ~_~.
I own this game too, although I haven't played it in years. I would gladly dust it off if there were people that could actually challenge me in it. The Japanese version had mech customization AND online support... Man we got shafted. Granted, asking for a robust online versus mode at the time of VOOT's release might have been asking too much, but think of how much greater and more popular this diamond in the rough would be! A guy can dream.

You don't know who you dealing with. Kicked ass in Virtual On Tournament held in Wonderland 8/22/01. That's when I turned 10 and as the prize, won free games after taking out 23 other competitors using Grys-Vok.

Goddamn, not even the Japanese players I always get matched up with on LIVE are this good.
animekid200 2 years ago
You're lucky. You can actually GET matches on live. I can never find one. :/
...and even when I do, I get my ass kicked because I suck at the game, even though I love it.
KyoFoxfire 2 years ago
Are you in East or West America?
I'm in Australia so getting matched up to Japanese players is pretty much a given if there are no Aussies to play.
East Americans getting put with Japanese players, not so common.

that and reliable online, plus older gamers tend to flock to the ps3/360, so less annoying little kids.
