Unity is much better than Gnome 3 imho. And very quick on my old pc. PIV, 3ghz, 1.5ghz memory, no duo core thingys for me. :-)

@TomAnkcorn And the girlfriend prefers it to Windows, whereas before she only wanted to use Windows because she's used to it, now she only wants to use Ubuntu Linux with the Unity interface. There are a few bugs still but they're being fixed p.d.q. so we'll upgrade properly when its on official release.

so this netbook or desktop version? cause i like the look and all of unity but alot of ppl say it is very slow and sluggish...and please NEVER use that song again..o god i hate it so bad.

@longluvedrappers This is the Netbook Version, the unity look is very good and the reactivity is improved.It is an Alpha, but promise very well.

I've heard now that unity uses compviz for hardware acceleration it's much faster but I don't have a spare computer to install it on so I can't try it for myself to find out. Supposedly there will be a 2D version of unity that will run much faster when hardware acceleration isn't available.

Unity in 10.10 was very slow on netbooks though, which is why they've re-written most of the backend for 11.04. Great Ubuntu getting it's own look!
