woulounteers in many different divisions, Its known that one unit was purly swedish, the 3rd Platoon in Aufklärungsabteilung 11, led by Hans gösta Pehrsson was a swedish unit. However the majority was spread all over the Waffen SS, the most members were in wiking, 98 and 77 were in norland, 22 in Das Reich and the rest were spread in others.

Norvay and Dennmark had many because germany had occupied those contries, there was propaganda posters al over the place when they were occpied.

Finns, yes all finns had to serve 2 years, the SS veterans then were well accepted in the finnish army and helped them with their combat experience (especially anti tank warfare with Panzerfaust etc.)

I know which one you mean, however its not Pehrsson who died (He survived and lived on as a salesman in sweden after the war) the one who died was the driver Ragnar Johansson. The halftrack was hit by russian tank fire 1 April 1945. Pehrsson escaped and was hiding in a closet in a nearby house for 2 days afer that.

Shame? Finnish men fought bravely against the enemy. What shame about that? It doesn't matter if they fought under germans. Same happened in Lapland when finnish troops were give for german use. Finnish men in SS troops made a contract that they fight only against russians, never against western countries.

The fun fact is that in the war Finland was the only country which stayed democratic in the Europe Mainland and it was fighting along the germans (allthoug against the communists).

"Norge" of 11.SS Division "Nordland were amongst the last defenders of Berlin in the Waffen-SS in 1945. Most Swedes were in 5.SS Division "Wiking" or 11.SS Division "Nordland". He fougth in frikorps dannmark in 1941-1942 on lenigrad front, then Bad Tölz until 1943. He was then sent to 11th SS Nordland in PanzerAufklärungsabt 11, 4 kompaine, 4 Zug.75 swedes served in this unit and Hauptsturmführer Hans Gösta Pehrson was the leader of it. In Oct at Perklun, he attacked a sov hill with 12men, he took 120 russian Pow and did not lose a single man.

Wenn du diese schweizer polizeieinheit meinst: Es gibt einen gewaltigen unterschied zwischen "supercop" und kriegsveteran. Hey jetzt noch was, du kannst keine Infos auf wiki über die schweden in der SS finden. Bin seit dem 7 Lebensjahr ww2 orientiert und wiki ist nicht die absolute Infoquelle, nur mal zur Info. Die besten Quellen sind Bücher, meine infos hab ich aus "11th SS Aufklärungszug" Das Buch ist echt toll, solltest du vieleicht auch lesen.

Desweiteren schließen sich geschichte und rassismus nicht aus wie man ja vor 70 jahren gesehen hat. Der 2. wk hat 60mio+++ menschen das leben gekostet aufgrund ihrer herkunft/aussehen/familienabstammung und ist DER inbegriff deutscher geschichte

There were 268 swedes in The Waffen SS. The best known and most sucessfull was Hauptsturmführer Gösta Pehrson 1:17. He fougth in frikorps dannmark in 1941-1942 on lenigrad front, then Bad Tölz until 1943. He was then sent to 11th SS Nordland in PanzerAufklärungsabt 11, 4 kompaine, 4 Zug.75 swedes served in this unit and Hauptsturmführer Hans Gösta Pehrson was the leader of it. In Oct at Perklun, he attacked a sov hill with 12men, he took 120 russian Pow and did not lose a single man.
