i think when someone is holding a gun you should run away cause as soon as you come upto them tryin to punch them there'll probably shoot you in the head
survival skills should be curricularly mandatory in state-funded schools because good-willed parents wouldn't advize their young infants to stand up in such life threatening situations. it is important as an individual and as a people to fight for our right to live and prosoper as individuals and as a society.
what I do not agree is with the right to own a hand gun for protection. i believe that the federal gov'nt should ammend that right and instead implement strict criminal and civil sanctions on the possession and use of a hand gun by an unlawful agent for unlawful purposes. the US has the highest gun-related crime rates in the world so it is time that Congress looks into this matter....
I don't agree that we shouldn't be able to own a handgun. However, I do think it should be harder to get a gun license because there are so many gun crimes here.
owning a handgun gives way to what the italians call "vigilante justice", "anarchy" and "vendettas". how can we license anonimous individuals that have undisclosed ties to the KKK, Mafia, and/or political organizations? you may not have those connections but its POSSIBLE that your neighbour does and then what happens? then there are revolutions, assasinations (MLK, JFK etc.), gang related war, etc. etc.
another problem is gun smuggling from the US into the borders of Canada and Mexico that accounts for 82% gun-related crimes in Canada and 95% in Mexico. this issue should also be of international concern since its effecting North America in its entirety....
Nicely put. But, the smuggling is an organized crime issue. Rather than take guns away from ordinary citizens, more time and money should be put into fixing the problem. Governments across the globe should work together more closely to apprehend and punish organized crime rings.
the USA is the world's most proliferant manufacturer of firearms in the world and the leading exporter. before getting to the border smuggling issue the US gov'nt must resolve the issue of how these weapons wind up in the possession of these individuals/groups. it is an undisputable fact that there are individuals of high rank within the "system" that are tied to criminal afiliations....
therefore like "prohibition" in the 20's/30's, since this is a matter of even greater concern, the US gov'nt should implement the following measures: prohibit the possession and use of a firearm for the embetterment of a healthier society and efficient policing in our streets (it helps investigations 75%!). regulate the distribution among lawful institutions and diminuish its proliferation....
finally, the only way that the international community can resolve this is by way of convention since international laws are not enforceable (e.g. war on Iraq, execution of Saddam Hussein etc.) i just hope that the US gov'nt takes this as serious as the homeland security issue. like cancer this problem is spreading within US borders out to other countries so its time to eradicate the tumor :)
No sweat. I welcome intelligent arguments. Its the whole fun of youtube. Too bad 90% of the people here are incapable of using a single neuron inside their heads.
Even trained snipers, SWAT, law enforcement have difficulty in the "moment of truth". Either killed or be killed. The purpose of schools is to educate and facilitate in the learning process for children. Not mandatory to teach life survival skills, that's it totally the parents or caregivers responsibility. Only survival trait I learned in grade school was "say no to strangers, and no hope in dope!"
The biggest problem is that parents DON'T teach their kids survival skills. More often then not, kids see the sitter more than their parents and sitters don't teach, they sit. Thus, schools have to take on more responsibility (ie survival training).
So it seems easy for someone of strong will to say "fight back, don't be a sissy!" Unfortunately not everyone is the same. It even happens in the animal kingdom. All a survival trait, yet again in the heat of the moment no one actually 100% knows what he/she will do or react. Fight or flight?
When someone's personal space, well-being or life is in jeopardy 1 or 2 things happen. That's when we arrive to the "Fight-or-Flight response". Pupils dilate, hearts pumping, blood is pulsating and the body releases epinephrine (aka. adrenaline). Some people tend to revolt and retaliate against the attacker(s). Others tend to fall in a "Stockholm syndrome" creating psychological responses to sympathize and be "loyal" in all demands. It's a survival trait....
One senentor was actually wanting to give the teachers guns. I'm very pro-gun ( big hunter ), but there's no way teachers should have guns, when they're not abusing the kids they're sleeping with them. :-0 Don't give teachers guns in school.
Yeah. Guns in the classroom would be terrible. I can see some punk getting ahold of the gun and killing everyone in the room. Ass-kicking is way safer. :)

That's better than getting shot in the back while you are trying to run away.
