Beautiful Brother. I have spent some very wonderful times in your great country. Your work is very inspiring. Reminds me of the times I have spent out in Jemez and and the beautiful people who fed me and loved me there. Good to see all of ya'll living together the way we were meant to. Peace Brother!
I visted zuni back in 2004 loved it very nice people was big culture shock for me my native people are from the coast salish territory in the pacific north west i got to witness the long beard dance very proud to witness that thank you :D
culture and arts are interwoven the new artists can surge up from the people and represent a culture a people a view a dream a truth, art and music are gifts from the grandfather and from the great spirit of creativity and of love for home family friends and humanity!
Am African American and I just wanna say the Native Americans are lucky to have such great heritage. You know most of ours was lost to my people, but one thing I do know and thats am American first before anything else. So I kinda look at the native tribes alot for culture. (Limited Culture) I don't watch the Pow Wow because I know alot of their Dances are sacred
America's first people. I respect all you guys and hope that you would accpet me as your brother under the same sun. Are was great
same wit kawaik'a (laguna) we dont allow picctures/videos of most of our dances but its good that we keep to our culture, i am 1/2 laguna and 1/2 mexican, and i am proud of watching this vid. thank you for posting this, dawa'e.
Thank you for sharing this series. I knew of and really love the art of Duane Dishta and have now been enlightened to the art of the other artists in this video. Beautiful work.
my girlfriend is Zuni and she said that "only the people who govern the reservation can give authority to show these images." She's not next to me here so I'll say thank you for helping me see more of her culture all the way in Mississippi!!!!
kelsod, seems strict! Thats an "information control" bureaucracy. I have Fewekes and Cushings Original publications on Hopi and Zuni. I even know where the Hopi world navel is. And all sorts of stuff I wont type, it would just upset you If I told you. I had some nice stuff posted, but my 1st account was bombed by Mormons. But I do have the Ghost Dance posted, Mooney/Smithsonian 1894. Yes, The Mormons even created hell in the Ghost Dance.. Mormons cant keep their hands off Indians lives.
my gf says not to say anything or you might put a curse on me. I look at it more as learning experience and i'm glad you put this information out and give credit were credit is due.. would you really put a curse on me?
kelsod, goodness, the only people I know of doing that is the Mormons. Placing curses is wrong. even on your enemies. watch out for them when they preach, especially in trying times.
Have you ever tried learning Japanese? It sounds odd but apparently some Zuni Indians visited Japan, and had little trouble coming to terms with the complexities of Japanese, which other cultures would find troublesome.
