  • Which are better and what are the difference between cardinals and neon tetras

  • At 0:13 the one shrimp backs away like he's saying "DAMN he means business...." then he comes back quickly like "maybe he will compromise"

  • Shrimp soccer?

  • Nice 1. So that is what u call team spirit :)

  • what fish are the neon blue and red

  • them rummys are in good condition :)

  • You've got an awesome tank!! There was a fight in my tank over an algae disc between 3 amano shrimp, a peppered catfish, and a flying fox. The Flying Fox got pretty physical too!

  • Cute ^_^ Love the tank and the fish too.

  • Beautiful aquarium and fish :)

  • you have my fav tetras in there nice tank

  • I do believe that what you have are the Common Rummy Noses or its scientific name Hemigrammus bleheri as opposed to the True Rummy Noses. Nevertheless, beautiful fish. I'm planning to get back into the hobby and now searching for compatible companions in my up and coming community aquarium - and seeing this beauties, I'm putting them in my list : )

  • I think that alot of people get neon tetras confused with cardinal tetras. neons are alot more available in most stores. I have a hard time finding cardinals. The cardinals have a complete red stripe below the blue one and the neons only have a stripe that is half red and the rest white.

  • nice tank

  • Those are some really pretty cardinals, love how much the colors pop

  • can anyone please tell me what i can feed these shrimp besides fish flakes. I just recently boought 1 Red Cherry Shrimp and 1 Amano Shrimp and i wanted to know what is something i can feed both of them that i can maybe find around the house?

  • LOL, thanx Squ1shDaBug!

  • i so wish i could like this vid multiple times

  • how big is the tank?

  • (0:53) MY FLAKE!!!!!!

  • you have some really bright beautiful cardinals ^^

  • could you take footage of your whole tank? :o it would be interesting..

  • AAAMAAAZING tank! Love it!

  • wow man love the cardinals my pet shop r allways out of them but i have neon tetra

what are the tetras with the red head and the black and white tail coz i have 3 of those but i dont remember what there called

  • With Ocean Nutrition food you will get to these colours. For sure.

  • its like this the shrimp thats it and starts playing keep away with your other fish

  • Fantastic!

  • I THINK one of your shrimps is carrying eggs

  • my favorite was the ottocinclus showing

  • one question mate...the shrimp need some hardness in the water...the cardinals don't. So what is your Gh in the tank?

  • IM getting some Rummynose tetra's too.. but there is one of them at my LFS that was a solid tan color... what was wrong with it... thgh i kno about all the different types of rmmynusese..

  • Tetras are stunning.

  • very nice

  • love the tank. and the fish. exactly what i have been thinking about.

  • @daz636 Thanks daz636!

  • i have 10 cardinals in my 36 gallon tank, its been set up for about 5 months now and the main difference i notice is that your cardinals are extremely red, mines are a very light red, kinda like a red/white mixture on their belly, i want mine to be red like yours. is there special food your feeding them cause i hear some brands are better then others. can you give me the info on how you care for your cardinals? like food, water temp and all the stuff that can effect their coloration? thanks!

  • @infamousgook The food is all frozen, brine shrimp and blood worms. But by the description your giving it almost sounds like you mite have neon tetras, cardinals have a red line all the way down there body. There is lots of info on the earlier posts to.

  • @inomac they are cardinals. cardinals have a red stripe all down there bottom half, where neons have a slight rted stripe from the back fo the tail to about half way along the body

  • @infamousgook check your ph level..cardinals likes low ph..they will show the color.now if you need a special food ..i can sell some..just let me know if you need any..ok..take care...

  • @chardnj yeah, my ph is 6.5 which should be okay with cardinals, i started using new life spectrum and i think they slowly are showing better color! thanks for the offer tho! you take care also.

  • Comment removed

  • @daz636 Are you sure they are cardinals? If they show red/White mixture probably not. Look for Paracheirodon innesi and check if they are what you´ve got.

  • @arefilk yup 100% sure they are cardinals and not neons. I have both neon and cardinals in my tank and the difference is extremely noticeable. its just the cardinals red belly, wasn't a blood shot red like in this video, it was more of a really see-through type of red. but ever since I been feeding NLS food its been getting more and more red so no more complaints here :)

  • @daz636 Great! I´m very happy for you. Take care!

  • @infamousgook Same with mine. Not as colourful contrast. They are cardinals, I can tell the diffirence between neons and cardinals. But if their colour is fading it could be neon-disease.

  • @spotify95 yeah i figured it out, it was the low quality foods i was feeding them, once i started feeding better foods there colors got more deep red. also i researched that cardinals couldnt get NTD. Thanks

  • @infamousgook Three simple things to make cardinals color really pop:

    1. Low PH. They like acidic water of 6.6 PH or lower.

    2. Soft water. They like a general hardness (GH) < 5 degrees, a carbonate hardness (KH) < 1 degree. You can buy testing kits for GH and KH to see how soft your water already is. To make water softer you can mix your tap water with distilled water to dilute the dissolved minerals during water change.

    3. Feed Earthworm, brineshrimp, and bloodworm to enhance red colors

  • What kind of substrate are u using? its awesome

  • @Bjorn37 Thanx, its called Eco-Complete

  • @inomac Thank you i will look into it.

  • nice background music it sounds like idose

  • i love your substrate btw

  • can i feed frozen brine shrimp to the tetras

  • can i use led light for my tetras?

  • can the tetra be fed with hikari micro wafers.?

  • @aaronlennon1000 My tetras mainly eat blood worms and brine shrimp.

  • Comment removed

  • @aaronlennon1000 I don't see any problems with the pellets but frozen food is very good for them. The aquarium is a 60 gallon planted tank.

  • @inomac

then the background must be what colour...

  • @aaronlennon1000 my back ground is black.

  • @inomac

can i use led light for the tetras

  • @inomac

what kind of background they need ,

my tetras are not that red please help me...

  • what do you feed the tetras..

  • What kind of substrate is that?

  • I never thought Amano shrimps are this big. They can move Algae wafer. My Red Cherry Shrimps are much much smaller.

  • the shrimps are so funny! they were trying to run away with the food!

  • i had the shrimps and rummy nosed tetras. i think the rummies' noses turn pale when they are ill.

  • hi ive asked many youtubers and no one replies plz can someone tell my i want a cardinal tetra shoal, rummynoses shoal zebra danios ruby sharks anglefish and community cichlids like kribensis or rams plz can someone tell me if this is a good or bad idea and can anyone give me a suggestion btw i have a 150 gallon tank

  • @redparrot99 Hi redparrot99, the cardinal tetras, rummy-noses and angelfish would make a nice setup, as long as the angles are not so big as to consider the others as food. Danios are a little hyper and don't really create shoasl like the others. Ive got no experience with kribensis but rams sound ok.

  • @redparrot99 - Leave out the Zebra Danio's and the Ruby Sharks. Zebra Danio's are very hyper and will agitate other fish, especially the Angelfish. Ruby Sharks are also very territorial so they're not the best community fish. The Rams and Kribensis would also go good with the other fish you selected, however only get one Kribensis for your tank. Kribs will breed usually breed quickly and they also become territorial when the breed and it puts a lot of stress on the parents in a communitytank

  • how many gallons is you tank?

  • @iceeblueboy Its a side view of a 60 gallon tank.

  • nice tank, i wanted to get some cardinals but the store ran out =/ so i settles for neons, i have a few rummys myself. Are those shrimps similar to bamboo shrimp? they look alike

  • Fantastically!!!!!

  • Lol aquarium rugby xD

  • how long did it take you to stock all those cardinals?? pretty awesome. aren't they mostly wild caught, with poor aquarium transfer/survival rate?? i'd say 40% of the one's i've purchased didn't make it.. that's so cool, nice tank.

  • @permy7 Thanks permy7, Yes all cardinals are from the wild. I put them in about 7 at the time over 3 months for a total of 35

and I haven't lost one yet. The pet shop were I get my fish is top notch thow.

  • @permy7 Thanks permy7, Yes all cardinals are from the wild. I put them in about 7 at the time over 3 months for a total of 35

and I haven't lost one yet. But the pet shop were I get my fish is top notch .

  • Could amano shrimps survive without airpump

  • where do you find amano shrimp? No pet store anywhere has them...

  • that was sweet! haha

  • he did a Barry Sanders at the end

  • wow the colors on ur fish r amazing they are very healthy fish cool !

  • @cleckioli Thanks, cleckioli!

  • They are fighting for waffer :)

  • are they aggressive shrimp? was thinking about getting some next week, but ive got a betta and some oto cats.

  • @wolverine1865 , No there not aggressive at all.

  • if you like big fish check out my clips

  • i love rummy nose tetras i have 5 and they are awesome probably going to buy more!:) nice video by the way:)

  • rummy noses are great fish too bad mine died after my tank got some weird flesh eating disease all died except a cory and a gourami who now have been living alone in 10 gallon ever since cause I was scared they would still have the disease but they are fine and do well

  • mine pick up the algae wafers and carry them off where the cories can't get them. annoying!

  • LOL Shrimp carrying all.

  • hey what kind of shrimp are those and do the tetras leave them alone?

  • @asdfxyz1 There known as Amano shrimp, and the tetras don't pay them any attention.

  • @inomac are they really that yellow or is the color being enhanced by your gravel? very nice tank by the way.

  • @asdfxyz1 Tanks, the shrimp are acutely a very lite gray color, the color on the video is due to the evening aquarium light settings.

  • @spaghetti85 Thanks, Its called Eco-Complete from Carib sea.

  • Very cool close up, I miss my Rummy Nose, great colors and schooling.

  • hi. . the colour tht ur rummy nose have developed is simply awesome !!!

i hav 5 pairs though small in size. would like to knw wht special care is recq for them ????

  • @varunchinchalikar Hi varunchinchalikar. Well they eat frozen blood worms and brine shrimp, They get 30% water change every week with RO water, and very little stress... that's about it. Hope this helps.

  • @inomac hey i'll try ur tip.also would like to knw if these fish r fine in fake plants tank.i'll upgrade to live plant tank soon.

  • @varunchinchalikar Hi, I don't have any experience with artificial plants, but think for rummys its better the non. Good luck with your fish.

  • how well do your rummynoses and tetras get along? i was told they don't. I have a 46 gallon with at least 20 neons and wanted to add some rummynoses... what's your thoughts?

  • @Octobersky1770 H Octobersky1770i, the only issues I'm having is feeding time the rummys are more aggressive so I have to sread the food out a bit, but other then that they get along great and even school together some some times.

  • @inomac thanks

  • Para que estes lindos peixes um dia não dezapareção do mercado.

  • Devia de haver mais investimento,no estudo e na reprodução dos Cardinal tetra .

  • yo thats some hd cam what is that?

  • @westwide Hi Westwide, its actually a canon G9 camera. its got a great close up lens. but its not HD.

  • Wow the gravel looks very nice it has a natural feel to it. I haven't seen them in aquariums before... did you get them else where?

  • @WeeGeetible Thanks WeeGeetible, Its called Eco-Complete from Carib sea, its not to hard to find.

  • Beautiful fish and shrimp. That's a nice-looking substrate.

  • I love at the end how the shrimp just cheeses it.

  • Hey Man, yours are the most beautiful cardinals and rummy nose tetras I have ever seen.

    Take care of your fishes.

  • Yamato shirmp "No tetras this is my algae wafer"

  • I really love cardinals. yours are really beautiful. and shrimps also :)

  • what are they fighting for and algae wafer?

  • do u use live or fake plants? and i really like the gravel.

    anyway, nice aquarium!

  • Thanks allot, Jackolantay

the plants are real, my second video "Discus and cardinal aquarium" is the same aquarium after 6 months.

  • its a really nice aquarium!!

  • Thank you very much, Cabezadecastor

  • rummy nose tetras are awesome.

  • where can i get that substrate from. its so hot!

  • amano can eat fishes, right?

  • Amanos don't really eat unless the fish are already dead.

  • amanos are scavengers ... they mainly eat algae and are very good if u have a planted aquarium.

amanos are no threat to fishes. ghost shrimps however can get snappy on tiny fish.

  • inomac thank you for ur attention!

  • is it on fresh water?

  • Its a fresh water aquarium.

  • Realy ur tank looks very natural, this substrate seems like river ! What is this?

  • What size is this tank? I'm setting up a nature aquarium soon, should i go for the 5 gal or 10?

  • The tank is 60 gallons... Finding eaters and filters for a 5 gallon is a bit of a challenge, I'm setting one up now. There are many more options for fish and equipment for a 10 gallon tank.

  • love the substrate, it looks very natural

  • jocularty fight

  • lots of cardinals

  • are female shrimps usually larger than males?

  • what kind of lighting u got great vid real nice inhabitants.

  • Hahah I liked the ending - "See you later suckers!!"

  • and can you mix discus with shrimps?

  • Hi adrianlollolz, yes you can keep discus and shrimp together, if you look at my other video -Discus and cardinal aquarium- you see some on the large stone. The fish and shrimp are about one to tow inches long.

  • how big are your cardinals and amano shrimps?

  • what kind of gravel did you use?

  • Its called Eco-Complete from Carib sea.

  • how u get ur amano shrimp to have such bright yellow colours?

  • The video was recorded in the evening when half the lighting turns off and there's only the flora lights left on, and there color is more in the red part of the spectrum.

  • how do you get the rummynoses so bright and red?

  • The video was recorded in the evening when half the lighting turns off and there's only the flora lights left on, and there color is more in the red part of the spectrum.

  • Wow, nice camera, and tank

  • Thanks Sleepy1225.

  • What kind of substrate is that? It looks very natural..

  • Its called Eco-Complete from Carib sea.

  • hpoe it completes your ecosystem, then...

  • Just curious - what is the food item that they all love so much? Must be really good stuff.

  • Its called -New Life Spectrum- they really love them, but the shrimp usually win by flying of and hiding behind the filter intake with the tablet.

  • rofl win

  • does that amano have eggs inside of her?

  • Yup, the large females always seem to have eggs.

  • so they breed just like cherries?

check out my tank i have quite a few cherrys myself :P

i have quite a few videos

  • Unfortunately the Amano need brackish water for the eggs to mature so they never hatch. Your cherry shrimp look great xJaypex, Id love some but there very hard to find up here in Canada.

  • ahhh, i thought so

nice cardinals i went out and bought some yesterday...

    really?

they breed like crazy and pretty much everyone in the local club im in has them

how much do they go for over there when you see them?

  • If I remember well they were about 8$ each. I'm setting up a small ADA garden cube and I really hope to fined some cherry shrimp for it.... I wish there was a local club were I live.

  • cool tank, what kind of gravel is that, or is it a mix of stuff

  • Thanks b00too, the gravel is called Eco-Complete from Carib sea. Its great looking and the plants love it, but it I cant seam to get the PH lower then 7.2 even with RO water and I think the the gravel may be the problem.

  • lol i like how the shrimp holds on and swims away with it. Shrimp are one of the most exciting things to watch, so active. Ah the cardinal tetra. So common but still one of my favorite fish of all time. I saw a school of about 400 cardinals in a huge tank ( 5000+ gal). Biggest damn cardinals iv ever seen in captivity. It was amazing. Could watch them for hours.

  • I would love to sea that 5000+ tank and cardinals!

  • awesome video! amazing quality! and really really nice fishies/shrimp!!! yayy

  • Wow beautiful tank and video quality! I have cardinals, crystal red shrimp, amano shrimp in my 55 gal. I had rummys in the past they are beautiful in a planted tank as well.

  • Thanks jpetrucci05!

Id love to get some crystal red shrimp, are they hard to keep?

  • I've found them much easier to keep then what I've heard on the net. If you can keep a tank like yours (and amanos), you'll do fine...they'll even breed if theres no fish to eat the young. I assume the warnings were for ignorant people who know nothing on acclimation, cycling, water parameters, etc. Give it a try, I'm sure you'll love them.

  • That is so cute!

  • Just wondering, do amano shrimp still wants to eat algae/ lazier to clean up the tank after getting used to on blood worms, algae wafer, etc ??? Nice tank btw.

  • Once Amano shrimp get big they seem to have less interest in algae, I keep them to clean up excesses food in the hairgrass that covers the bottom.
