I may have gotten the exact relationships between Eggman, Gerald, and Maria wrong by a great or something, but this comes from Sonic adventure 2 and from Shadow the hedgehog, both in the true story arcs of the games if you want evidence. The immortality thing is only a theory to my knowledge, unless I'm forgetting something from one of the games.

@SiFronOnline No, no the relations are right. Gerald IS Eggman's grandfather, and so Maria is Eggman's late cousin. And no one in the Sonic Universe is immortal. Where people thought that Shadow was immortal, I have no idea.

The death of Maria eventually drove Gerald insane and he eventually programmed the order into the prototype version of Shadow to make sure that the planet is destroyed should the chaos emeralds make their way onto the station, which was likely since the station was the only way to destroy the oncoming alien invasion. THAT is Shadow's backstory, not some BS about Shadow coming from the darkness of Sonic's heart and the real reason why Shadow hasn't aged a day.

Shadow was the ultimate result of this research, modeled after a depiction of Super Sonic as seen in a prophecy detailing the final battle of the original Sonic Adventure. However, GUN in all of their sttupidity, made the command decision to capture everyone on board and kill anyone who got in their way. Maria, Gerald's granddaughter, was killed saving Shadow, who would land on earth in a capsule and be cryogenically frozen, explaining why he hasn't aged a day since his creation. (TBC)

*Facepalms* It looks like nobody knows the real backstory, so here it is:

Eggman's Grandfather Gerald Robotnik was working on the ARC when a bunch of aliens came by wanting to use the planet as a food resource. Trying to stop them and stall for time, Gerald promised to create the ultimate lifeform from some alien DNA to gather the chaos emeralds for the aliens, actually planning on using it to gather the emeralds to power the eclipse cannon to destroy the aliens when they came back. He just seems older in the SA2 pic since Generations uses a better/newer model/graphics engine.

In the Final Boss fight of Shadow the Hedgehog (the only game where the Shadow Androids appear as enemies and are named), Eggman tells Shadow that he is the original, the one that fell from space after using Chaos Control on the Space Colony ARK. Notice how Shadow can't shoot rockets from his hands and how the Androids can't use Chaos powers like Chaos Control, Spear, or Blast. I'd like to know where you got this information from.

@hyperdarkonic in SA2, Sega had a deal with a company named SOAP, who made shoes. They styled Sonics shoes like one of SOAPS, and also added grinding in the game.

That is also why you see signs for SOAP all over the game.

Sonic's shoes went back because I think the deal was only for SA2
