I did the ATF oil change on my dad's Tomos s25/2 with A3 Engine 9 days ago ( the oil was gray, black. ) And i didn't has the right Funnel the put the ATF oil in. So my dad made one from paper.
Thanks so very much for posting this. I changed the transmission oil in my new-to-me streetmate last night. Wish I could make it out to Poutine Ride IV, but I've got nuptials to attend out-of-province!
@LanceCampeau my 1st gear hits it max stalls in first giver a heavy rumble then i have to release the throttle and punch it in till it shifts do you know the problem?
@MrPartygrunt64 your clutches are gone in either first or second gear i had the same prob i took it apart and did the modification i replaced the old cork pads with leather works great hope that helped..
Thanks for making this video..i think if i did not watch it i might have made the mistake of not removing the bleed screw on side of the tranny on my tomos A35..i hope to change the oil shortly..can you say if ..ATF Type F/A Auto Transmission Fluid..is suitable ? theres not a great choice of ATF fluids in the uk
but i prefer to use ATF fluid rather than 10w/30 engine oil..nice video well done
u can put more fluid in to shift later right? how else can u make it faster? im like 180 and would like to take my gf on it so like combined weight of 300. i live in pa so theres alot of hills but i wana be able to do like 40+ i no i need to drop size in sprocket and remove the packing posibly add more fluid, modify the airbox, how do i know what size jet to do with the carb?
Used the video to change my streetmate r fluid and it worked great. I just have a quick question. I had a larger funneis l so i poured the fluid in rather fast to prevent leakage. I stopped once the ph screw port started to drip. I figured that i overfilled it so i just let the fluid drip untill it stopped. COuld this have left me with not enough fluid in my transmission? I rode the bike and it rode much smoother but i just wanted to get your opinion. Thanks
Hey lance i am watchin all of your videos cause i am buying a 2006 streetmate for $850.00 U.S it runs perfect nothing wrong is that a good deal?... and whats faster A55 or A35? and whats better
There are not too many differences between the A35 and A55 engines... the A35 is a reed valve cylinder and the A55 is a piston port cylinder... the bottom half of these two engines are pretty much the same (transmission, clutch etc...) All new tomos bikes have the A55 engine. The biggest advantage to having the older A35 engine is that there are a few more perfomance part choices available, mostly cylinders and exhaust pipes... power is about the same...
hey lance i am watching all of ur videos and i gonna buy a 2006 streetmate for only $850.00 U.S 1. do u thinks it a good deal it runs perfect no problems messsage me back Brandon carte NJ
Great video lance im gonna do a oil change on my LX tomorrow do I follow the exact same procedures? by doing this will it also get about 5 km extra on 1st gear?
Thanks man! You Freakin' rock! Thank you, thank you, thank you for this and all of your guidance. (Btw, you sounded like an anchorman when you said "Lance Campeau dot com" ;-) )
hey man awesome tutorial! this is a really dumb question but what size/type screwdriver do you need to get the engine cover off? im doing my first 300 miles maintenance (first moped maintenance ever!) and guess i don't have the right screwdrivers...

I am not sure what you will need... my bolts were not the stock ones, the dealer changed them for some reason... I suggest you go and pick up a small multi tool kit with interchangable heads... handy to have for mopeds.
Ahhhhhh!!! Lance I stripped that screew you said not to! :-( Im sooo pissed off, The guy didnt do his own work so he had somebody esle do it and tighten everything waaaay to tight!
So about 300 millimeters of fluid should be right??
Hey lance, thanks you so much for making videos like this one. I did everything you said in this video and the transmission in my 06 streetmate turned out amazing and my buddy did his without taking out the screw on the cover and destroyed his clutch due to lack of trans fluid. You should make more videos showing how to install speed kits and everything else about tomos mopeds. Thanks again lance you make awesome videos.
Yikes! A burned clutch cause of too little fluid... damm... I plan to make MANY videos this season as I have several Tomos related projects on the go...
what is better engine oil or trani fluid what does tomos recomend im chanin my fluid tonight just bought an 03 targa for 180 dollars had electrical tape on the oil injection line and i ran it like a dumass after puttin sum fluid in reserve tank when i bought it only for less than a minute tho still suprised it didnt blow up cuz oil injection system wasnt primed after it went dry something to remember:)
its the same on the a35. you guys are lucky cause the a 35 imo is a superior engine. i use golden spectro and i just measure 10 ounces out in a cup and pour in. then i don't have to bother with the overflow plug.
hey does it matter if that chrome engine cover is covering your aftermarket uni air intake? because I was told if the engine cover in on there, then the after market air intake can not suck in air
don't need to turn off the fuel for change of tranny fluid lol. great vid though. even though i know how to do all of the maintenance on my moped i still enjoy watching ur vid because of the quality of ur production.
300, does that count for the A35 to? Cuz in The Netherlands they don't deliver tomos' with the new A55 engine yet :( . And i'm turning 16 soon, so i'il be buying a tomos to :D
Great vid!! Not too complicated!!

@trischetta1
If you let the fluid drip out of the side hole then you should have the proper ammount of fluid in the tranny.

i want to do this myself, but i have a major problem with the screw where you say critical and philips head.
the screw at that point is not PH by my Revival, but a hex key.
i think my dealer, who always changed the atf before, screwed this screw, if you get what i mean.
it's not screwable anymore xD
