  • I really don't think Rick Warren wrote the book. The book is far too world changing to be from a man. Just like Hitler didn't write Mein Kampf.

The book is a Communistic blueprint for the New World Order

  • Read an excellent review by the F.E.A. (Fundamental Evangelical Association )

  • Purpose Driven life certainly contains "some" biblical truths. but what it communicates is a big lie.

Even in the simple court of law, you are ask to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. Why? because a felon can go free if the court is unable to establish the whole truth. This is where Rich Warren is "expert" in presenting the partial truths of the gospel and subliminally making it appear as the whole truth.

He presents a flat lie with truths - very crafty indeed!

  • This video confirmed my misgivings of Purpose Driven Life. I feel like the it is a partial truth diverted from the root of truth. I have wondered if Rick is moving towards the progressive movement which is dangerous and creates a new gospel of self attainment & containing some truth & moves away from the root truth at the same time. Am I wrong?

  • Man centered view no God centered!

  • It's what comes out of a man that defiles him,Rick believes we just have the wrong information and not that man is wicked and totally depraved.Rick believes we just need the write information and not necessarily a super natural transformation.

  • please people, read it first...and you will understand why???

  • very thought provoking...thanks for posting this :)

  • and.....somebody want to judge Rick Warren for his book should read the book of Thomas J.Sappington call"LETTING GOD BE JUDGE"..

  • @danel102 - " and.....somebody want to judge Rick Warren for his book should read the book of Thomas J.Sappington call"LETTING GOD BE JUDGE". "

Wait, are you judging the people in this video by telling them to only let God be the judge?

That philosophy is counterproductive. To say that you are not aloud to judge, is to judge someone else's view.

Face it, we are going to judge; so focus on your judgment being based on fruit as Christ commanded it to be (Sermon on the Mount).

  • This Book was written by somebody full of Holy Spirit...,i think every newborn Christian have to read it and understand every single scriptures in this book...if we do...than we have no problem in preaching Gospel..Awesome man of God.i,ve read it again and again...it really changed me...

  • Someone gave me the book and raved about it so apart from the red flags the title gave me I opened the book immediately to a place where it said "if I love Jesus I will obey him and so prove my love for him " rather than "If I love Jesus I will obey His commandments" (as the outcome of genuine love)

  • @edantila That is actually a good distinction b/c you can say you love Jesus, but distort who Jesus is, but making clear what His commandments are makes plain who Christ is. At first I was not so sure about your statement.

  • a gentle, reasoned and biblically-based critique of the popular book. well worth a listen

  • Excellent video. Very informative. Thank you for posting this!

  • Our church did "The Purpose Driven LIfe" as a series of Sabbath School lessons, but we studied it the same way we studied Larry Burcket's series on money management. We didn't go gaga over it and shape our church around him or his ideas. I found it interesting, but I found his use of paraphrases problematic.

  • Lane, are you aware if Warren has ever responded to this program? Aside from comparing them to VeggieTales, I mean. ;-)

  • thanks for sharing, i trust folks will realize that faith is the only way to live and is what drives our purpose; faith is individual to each of us and there can therefore be no blueprint for it; even the Bible doesn't tell us how to achieve salvation other than through faith. faith leads to a life which is driven by God's purpose only when we allow it to; only when we live by faith. i think warren's book tries to tell people how to do it, but only the Bible can speak individually

  • I'm sorry, but i'm trying to understand this. They are against us struggling to attain salvation on our works, however they are also against talking about the love of God and allowing His love and grace to draw ppl in.Yes I am a passive subject of the action of God, but then shouldn't I obey Him actively? They are against being obedient out of a response of love for what God has done and they are also against being obedient to God to attain more of this love.Under what context should we obey God?

  • Amen, awesome review. I personally can't stand the sight of Rick Warren's face or hearing his voice. He reminds me of that conniving walrus from Alice In Wonderland.

The Purpose-Driven Life teaches a "lovey dovey" gentle-sounding form of works-based salvation (i.e. "religious self-help"), which is what makes it such a dangerous book. It leads people on an eggshell walk to hell - this is a BIG issue indeed, bigger than many people seem to realize@MooMeg85

  • @FaithandReasons I have read a piece of his book because both Jacob Prasch and John MacArthur were condemning the book. I came to the conclusion it's a dangerous book as you have rightfully say. All the things that John MacArthur said did not appear in Warren's book, such as repentance and judgement which are fundamental. Sin isn't even bought up.

  • What is the original name and date of this program?

  • PDL is definitely a bit watered down and his use of scripture is questionable, however I am more concerned with his compromises in other areas--such as his praying at the Obama inauguration and his speaking at an Islamic conference.

  • What about the fact that Warren quotes New Age teachers in the Purpose Driven Life or the fact that Warren is an illuminist and part of the CFR which is a branch of the illuminati? What about the fact that he is a protoge of Robert Schuller who is also a New Age swami in sheeps clothing? I am saddened by the fact that the church in America is not watching for trojan horses. Warren preaches a false gospel.

  • @KakkoiGuy1 You have said it right.

  • Warren's book being so popular and books that contain real wisdom and teach the hard doctrines of the Bible being shunned by contemporary Christians, speaks volumes about comtemporary Christians. Weak...ignorant...easily deceived...me oriented rather than God centered in thought. Shame on pastors like Warren that deceive the sheep.

  • I simply don't think Rick Warren is as big an issue as you make him out to be. He's not as bit a danger as Rob Bell or the Emergent Church which needs more critique. I don't think he's Calvinist but I don't think he's full-blown Pelagian either. The Purpose-Driven Life is perfect for introducing Christianity to less educated people like the single moms I counsel at my local pregnancy center. It makes it practical. I think Warren's main flaw is over-simplifying.

  • @MooMeg85 Rick Warren has alot in common with Rob Bell and Brian McClaren, all components of the Ecunemical (Emergent Church) Movement. Infact, I do believe they are friendly with one another. This movement is dangerous. It is taking the WIDE road that leads to destruction. Trying to enter God's Kingdom through the back door. It is embracing an interfaith community which embraces all religions. Wrong! Rev. 17-22; Daniel 7.

  • @MooMeg85 "I simply don't think Rick Warren is as big an issue as you make him out to be." <--- An illustration of the problem and exactly why people need to be more educated about what he really teaches vs. what he says he believes.

  • @MooMeg85 u do know he is a member of the CFR? One of the three majors groups that have a one world global agenda. Head of Tony Blairs faith foundation @ YALE Univ. to bring together the 3 Abrahamic faiths. We know what the Bible says about this. And why the peace plan? Why not the "spread the gospel plan?

  • @MooMeg85 the political clout and the committees hes on make his false message dangerous,as well as the large audience he is able to poison

  • @MWhat good is the book "the purpose driven life" if it is not written in life, by the spirit of God? It's just a dead thing & only introduces people to a dead religion, not a living intimate relationship with a vibrant living God. I had bought a copy & was disgusted at how dead it was. If he was writing by the power of the holy spirit, it would have been life-giving, you would have tasted Christ in it. Since it's a dead thing you don't minister life but do damage to others by giving it to them.

  • @MooMeg85 Rick Warren does not introduce Christianity. What Warren preaches is not Christianity. What Warren preaches is a false gospel.

God does not love everyone, MooMeg. God only loves those He has chosen for salvation from before the foundation of the world. He hates everyone else. (Rom. 9:10-25). He has raised up both the elect and non-elect in order to glorify His name. The non-elect to glorify His holiness by destroying them. The elect to glorify His mercy by saving them.

  • The good of this book is that it attempts to take the complicated ideas of Christianity and put them in easy to understand. That is a great goal, the sad thing is it is a poor substitute for the bible. I don't like the mindless following the leaders the book suggests.

  • @marthale7 I agree with this statement. PDL is a good starting point for introducing people to Christianity, but it should not stop there. You should go on to giving them for real Bible. Maybe I just like Piper so much that I'm afraid to admit he might be going through a mid-life crisis through his including with Warren not just once, but even more next year. Oh well.

  • @MooMeg85 At the Davos Annual Meeting 2008, Rick Warren advocated the amalgamation of all the world's religions. In other words, he's working for Satan.

  • @MooMeg85 Piper is as lost as Warren.

"Our final salvation is made contingent upon the subsequent obedience which comes from faith. The way these two truths fit together is that we are justified on the basis of our first act of faith because God sees in it (like he can see the tree in an acorn) the embryo of a life of faith. This is why those who do not lead a life of faith with its inevitable obedience simply bear witness to the fact that their first act of faith was not genuine." - J Piper

  • Rick Warren is a wolf in sheeps clothing. He works for the Roman Catholic church (the whore of Babylon) to bring catholics and lost protestants together under the satanic ecumenical movement.

  • @BusWatcher AMEN, and AMEN! I couldn't have said it better myself.

  • * I'll admit I never read Warren's book. I had no desire to buy it when it first came out. I'm into books that talk about Jesus, His forgiveness, mercy, love, His judgment, Repentance & the devil .....Uncompromising Christians are exposing Warren & his book since Warren did not write about true repentance & how important that is.

    * It's sad that Christians rather buy books that make them feel good instead of having a true relationship with Jesus by reading the bible.

  • thank you for posting this. It's important to test these teachings with the word of God. Many christians think rebuking and judging are the same principle. These 'self-help' books give a false sense of security.

  • I just left my church because they brought in Rick Warren's teachings. Now, with the Lord's help, I hope to find a new church. Rick Warren's watered down gospel is giving a false sense of salavation to a multitude of "sincere" Christians. We are SAVED by GRACE throught FAITH in CHRIST ALONE!!!! Christ crucified is where we find our redemption. His Righteousness, NOT ours!

  • @proverbs1824 that is "salvation". Sorry for the typo.

  • I would burn that evil book ..rick warren is a liar to bring in apostasy to the church! feel good churchianity!

  • His social gospel is leading a lot of "good people" to a feel good life here on Earth but what is the condition of their soul?
