  • nice video even in 35x zooming..ow yeah..i want to buy this coz i have a lot of money..

  • 00:56 ROD! detected

  • Я не понял это там стержень пролетел???????

  • how much time you can record this camera?

  • Omg 35x zoom is really goood and the focus!

  • eu tenho uma!

  • Good review

    Thanks

  • @3puncte Hey, whats the name of the song? It was awesome!!

  • Comment removed

  • What song? :D

  • ♥.♥

  • Song?

  • How do you work the manual focus? BTW the terrible rolling shutter is probably due to the fact its a CMOS lens. At least its not a CCD where you'd have a purple streak going through the shot each time theres a strong light in the shot. Good review.

  • which is better for record??

    this camera or s100?

  • hello is there a macro mode in the sx40? thanks

  • nice try but not good enough, you've got to test how it copes with rapid exposure changes by moving quickly from dark to light and rapid auto AF changes as well by doing the same thing.

  • What is the battery life on this Camera?

  • Next time try to leave the original sound instead of music! Because of your music I can assume that the original sound of SX40 sucks.

  • @probacont2007 This camera has horrible zoom noise. Other than that, it's good.

  • @defnyung ....hi , about SX40 ....can it play video in slideshow mode?

  • @Juanod09 you mean can it play pictures in slideshow mode? I believe it can but not video in slideshow mode.

  • @probacont2007 well, you are right, the sound is not amazing, like any other sound from a built in mic; since it was a windy day the sound was pretty harsh so that has my choice...

  • @3puncte I think your video is awesome! Your purpose of your clip as your title says is of the "video test review" of this fantastic camera, and NOT the sound! Some of the wind can be heard around 3:15 which shows a bit of the original sound! I did some research on this camera today, and ended up buying 2 bundles (camera, mini-tripod, case, 4 GB memory card) for Christmas, 1 each for my wife and daughter! Your video makes me even happier that I bought this camera! Thanks!

  • @3puncte External Mic input?

  • Great camera

  • Whats better....CANON EOS 1100 or CANON PowerShot SX40 HS???

  • Can you plug in a shotgun mic?

  • Thank you for sharing!

  • hi i'm planning to buy the poweshot s100 or sx40hs. can you help me decide which one is better? is there anything the s100 can do better in terms of features than the sx40hs other than the obvious small size?

  • @mqz4 the only real advantage of the sx40hs is the 35x zoom; if you don't need that amount of zoom, go for the s100.

  • @mqz4 the sx4Ohs :)

  • This just confirmed my choice in my next camera. Haha.

  • How's the manual focus? I have a Canon Powershot SX1 IS, and just the scrollwheel to adjust manual focus, but I find it rather unpleasant in use. I'd rather have the option for the zoomrocker to control the manual focus or something. In terms of low light video performance I think I'll be better off with a dSLR. Bigger sensor = less noise on 1080p. But unfortunately there's no 5D quality camera with articulated screen and build-in superzoom lens. Certainly not on any affordable level. :P

  • @Shiznutsz it's the same with manual focus, a scrollwheel. with the rest i agree, unfortunately it isn't, there still is market segmentation :P

  • @3puncte thanks for the response. Other than that it is a very promising camera, as greatly pointed out in the awesome put together video how it can be used. I was also looking at the Panasonic FZ-150 to follow up my SX1 IS, but it's not really what I'm looking for either. Same goes for Sony's HX100V. The Fujifilm HS20 EXR has a manual superzoom lensbarrel, but the movement is not fluid at all. I'll wait some more, 'cause there is a lot of improvement already! Or I just might go dSLR. (^^,)

  • A very good and informative video. Thank you.

  • keep on rollin rollin rollin rollin

    shutter

  • Does the photo-in-video actually pause the video (2:50). Is the Photo at full res? or is it at video res?

  • @ThreeDigitIQ the photo is at full res, and yes, it pauses the video

  • дурдом от кенона )) походу только sx1 будет лучшим зумом с FULLHD !

  • does this canon model also suffers of purple vertical lines while recording lights/light reflections ?? both SX20 and SX30 did have that issue

  • the zoom is INCREDIBLE!!!

  • It's beautiful! Question: Canon SX40 HS or Canon SX30 IS?

  • @iMstrKrft old or new senzor, that's your answer.

  • @iMstrKrft SX30 IS - DIGI4, SX40 HS - DIGI5 !!!

  • Hello, I have a question I would like to ask. >< I see that this camera does a wonderful job with autofocusing. If I am sitting in front of this camera (focused on my face), and if I brought a pen in front of the lens, will it automatically focus on the pen, and then if I take it away, would it focus back on my face again? I am so sorry for my bad explanation, however, I cannot find a clear explanation on websites so I wanted to ask you. I would greatly appreciate your reply. Thank you!

  • @danceandmelodee teoretically this is was autofocus is suposed to do. I haven't tried with a pen like you describe, but while using it a couple of days the AF seemed nice.

  • @3puncte I see... The compact DSLR I use right now doesn't have autofocusing in video mode (unless I hold the shutter halfway down every now and then), so i wanted to ask you what this one was like. Thank you very much for the help! Have a great weekend. :)

  • Ok i just got the Canon SX 30 is and i sooo desapointed with the brite light flooding i get. I Get a huge digital Flare from the top of the screen to the bottom is strong lighting for lights or the sun. What i wanna know is this problem fixed with the new camera. If you watch this video on my page, Called (Another Bad HABBIT BLOWN BIG BLOCK CHEVY Rail Dragster) if you fast forward to 40 sec you can see what im talking about. Thanks you soo much

  • Amazing test! great job men!!

  • Why is the viewfinder so much smallern than the one we saw in the powershot sx20? I nearly can´t identify anything.

  • Great video. Superb!

  • What does the "manual audio" function do? Also what was the focal length on the rolling shutter scenes?

  • @ballsmegee19 rolling shutter scenes were at various zooms, between 70 and 200 mm if i remember well; manual audio locks the gain control at a value you set, like on a video camera.

  • Wich one is the best for video Recording, the Canon EOS 600D or this the Powershot SX40?

  • @Pulkadrage 600D without doubt!

  • @3puncte Hi, I was wondering... does the Powershot sx40 accept SDHC cards? As on the expert review website the memory is stated as SDXC.

    Your help is greatly appreciated!

    :)

  • dslr's have much better image quality---shotsa s pale and colorless as these on a dslr would be deleted

  • @sasktank mostly true, but hence the price, it's not so bad; and don't forget you can color corect...

  • hmmm... is sx30 CCD video better than sx40 CMOS video? ...the rolling shutter part is really ugly on sx40. But i never saw this happen on sx30... but what do you think?

I want to buy sx30, but now sx40 is out... i mainly want to use for the video. I hope u can help thx :)

  • @sindentosca i would go for the sx40, mainly for the better iso performance... the rolling shutter can be evoided by trying not to do fast pans or handheld shots

  • @3puncte Thx for the reply... i will consider it :)

  • Thank you very much....This is a wonderful test of the video capabilities of this camera....one that I really had been waiting for. I was able to translate some of your caption via Google translator, but I encourage you to post a caption in English as well, as more people will want to see this video.

  • like! :)

  • Awesome !
