@wirmackt To be fair, it's a fairly casual performance, not at a stage or anything... looks more like a dining room. And i myself have been guilty of not applauding, but i can tell you that its normally because i'm too busy going "WhaaA?? How the...?" so, the laughter is a form of applause, because as a performer. magician or otherwise, the audience is enjoying their selves and that's the whole point.
