Hey! I love you guys and your Videos! And I laughed and laughed about your 30-day Vinyl Challenge...!!!! I bought my first record today in well over a month! Take care guys. Ade/UK.
@pudsi Great to hear from you again! Love you and your videos too, even if you don't have new stuff you should make videos about your classic albums if you have time. Hope you had a nice holiday!
I think it's been years since we've gone even a week without buying vinyl, we should probably do an actual 30 day challenge in the future, lol. Thanks for watching and commenting!
great stuff guys! I recently got into vinyl and have fallen in love for life already. subscribe to my videos and let me know what you think, I'd love some feedback =) excited for the next video!
I don't think I've ever heard Type O Negative, but I do remember when Bloody Kisses came out. I think that album cover caught everyone's attention. Looks like a quality box set!
@KoolRanchDressing - Thanks! I'll check out the Type O video when I'm not at work. (Ha!)
After receiving at least one postponement notice, my copy of the new Kate Bush arrived yesterday. I haven't had a chance to spin it yet but I'm really looking forward to it. I'm also looking forward to your comments about it, so I'll look for your update 8...
Welcome back and congrats on the pickup, great set. I always thought Type O got snowed under by Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, etc. in the nineties. Just didn't see a whole lot of them, but what a great friggin' band. If memory serves, I saw them open for Metallica at the Providence Civic Center on the And Justice For All tour. Nick Drake, Fruit Cake, Christmas Trees, White Lights, Band Private Stock, Thorn Attack, 5% Cash Back. Man, this video has it all. - Lj
@BioCYTE1 Thanks! Yeah TON did end up going platinum with Bloody Kisses but they didn't get as much attention as those other metal acts. Peter's earlier crossover thrash band Carnivore is even more ignored.
TON formed in 1990 so not sure if they were on the Justice tour. Looking it up online I saw that Queensrÿche supported Metallica for most of that tour. Metallica/TON sounds like a hell of a show.
LOL! Love the laundry list, you forgot Peter Steele's private spot though, lol.
@KoolRanchDressing I didn't forget Peter's spot! Lol. Thanks for the correction...could have sworn it was TON supporting Justice but guess my memory's blurred on all things 1988-1990! See what happens when I try to pull a Paneeks with concert memories?!
Carnivore existed until sometime in 1990, not sure if they ever played with Metallica though. That would also have been an awesome combo. I don't know how Rob remembers all that he does, lol.
great to see you guys again. :) I totally missed RSD but it doesn't look like there was much there I wanted looking at the list of what was available. I love Pink Floyd, but for those prices I will stick with early original pressings in NM condition. cheers
@DoctorDeadwax Thanks, great to be seen and great to hear from you, hopefully we can make vids more frequently.
Yeah if it wasn't for this Type O Negative set we wouldn't care about RSD this time either. The prices for the 7" box sets were insane. I love Syd/early Pink Floyd but kind of lukewarm to later PF. Have about all their albums on vinyl anyway though. You have an original pressing of Piper? I'm insanely jealous if you do, lol. Thanks for watching and commenting!
i was wondering what happened to you guys! nice to have you back.no Flamin' Leups huh...damn that's a shame.that Type O Negative kicks ass! i still throw on Bloody Kisses from time to time.October Rust used to freak me out with the first song Bad Ground, hehe.then i had this DVD that said "Were a Non Prophet Organization",which i feel in itself damns me to hell....i see now why i might not have gotten into the 3rd LP.i got a copy of B.Kisses where the girls are kissing,i love that.nice tree!
@dimebagdave77 Thanks! Great to hear from you! Love the TON set, we're very glad we were able to get it and not have to go to a store or wait in line for it.
LOL The "Bad Ground" intro is pretty freaky, it's fun listening to that and the skipping intro to WCD on vinyl. The TON DVDs are a lot of fun and put a lot of other bands' DVDs to shame. WCD is quite depressing and hits hard. Definitely their most serious and darkest, but an awesome album. The alternate cover to BK is badass.
That Type O Negative box looks amazing! A friend of mine is very much into them and sadly for him (he works at a recordstore in Holland) that wasn't a records store day exclusive here!
@stephan73 I was surprised by how awesome the set is, I thought it would be mostly a thrown together cash grab but a lot of effort went into it and it was surprisingly cheap for a 12 record set. Sounds great too. It's annoying how it was released just in the US and there's only a 1000 copies. If I recall correctly some of TON's original pressings of their first few albums on vinyl were only available in Holland through Roadrunner.
Merry Christmas you guys! Every time I see a TON record I can't help but think about Pete Steele posing for Playgirl. I think his wang was 6'8" too. About to show what I got for "Black Friday"....Always fantastic to see you two and hear you cuss with a hillbilly accent...reminds me of "home"...Also-thinkin of doing a trip to Seattle at the end of December for some record shopping....
LOL, it's slightly better to think about that than the Origin cover.
Excited to see what you got! I should try out cussing with a German or English accent in the future, lol. I grew up in the west so I'm not sure why my impression ends up being kind of southern.
We really miss record shopping in Seattle, particularly Easy Street at Queen Anne. There are a lot of fun smaller stores in the U district near UW that we used to go to almost daily.
@dereckvon I was quite isolated from a lot of modern music growing up, TON's covers were quite the unique introduction to those artists, lol. I'm sure I'll talk about that and those years of piano/organ lessons/recitals again in some future video. Thanks for watching and all the great comments, always appreciate it!
@dereckvon Thanks! It's great to be back and looking forward to catching up on your videos. I think it was quite limited at 1000 copies and US only, I presume a lot went to the east coast. I ordered it earlier this week through Vintage Vinyl in NJ and it came in the mail today. It's impressive that Roadrunner produced a 12XLP box set with great packaging, liner notes, and quality vinyl for $115, especially since so many other BFRSD exclusives were overpriced and generally lame.
YES YES YES!!!!!! I knew it! I am soooo jealous! Damn you to hell! LOL. It shall be mine, it shall be mine :) I met Peter, Kenny, Josh, & Johnny after the Type O show in San Francisco and they signed my Bloody Kisses & October rust vinyl. I love that they left off the logos and names of the front covers in that set. Very cool.Everything Dies is one of my favorite Type O tracks. Especially on the Symphony for the Devil live dvd. Love the 30 day "Video Challenge" LOL. Cool tree guys! St. Drake!
@Lazerrus Thanks! I'm jealous of your autographed albums! Would love to see those in a video in the future! I kind of miss the logos since they look good on the albums, but it's cool that they make the set all uniform. I presume since there are no logos/titles that the albums won't be sold separately in the future. It will probably be the only place to get WCD and LIKM on vinyl.
I think there are still copies of the box set online at soundstagedirect. I order from them fairly often.
Great pick-up, I'm sure Type O Negative and the Miles Davis 10" were the only things worth getting on black fri. The rest isn't worth killing yourself over.
@calvear68 Thanks! Yeah the Davis 10" seems like the other essential item this year. LOL, I like it went RSD doesn't make me suicidal. Thanks for watching and commenting!
That is a very special box set. First off it is nice to see your two smiling handsome faces back and doing a video again. Now I am going to say that I did see two of those nice box sets at the Newbury Comics location for RSD. The workers at the store handled it poorly. But this is not about me it is River and Shelly. I think they put that box together beautifully. Nice review on each LP. You guys know your Type O~ Well documented.
@Paneeks1960 Great to hear from you, hope you had a happy holiday as well and that your dad is continuing to recover. It's unfortunate when people who work in record stores handle things badly. We were both really impressed by how nicely the box was put together because it's quite cheap for 12 records/6 albums with gatefold sleeves and liner notes. It's kind of a shame that it's limited to 1000 worldwide. TON is definitely a nostalgic band for us. Thanks for watching and commenting!

@EoLoVoX I read on Kate Bush's official site the vinyl version of 50 Words for Snow was delayed everywhere due to quality control.
Interested to hear your perspective on the Type O song, I sent one of their more melodic/accessible songs but it still a good example of their style.
