  • What was the thing he put on the shirt when he was ironing?

  • Amelie :)

  • where do you find grease paper? i cant find it anywhere :(

  • @SugarRush150 Any supermarket. If you live in Chernobyl, I'm afraid you'll have to travel a bit.

  • @jkrelt what kind of mod podge did you use?

  • does this work with colurful things to? can it be more intrecit?

  • @blackdawn88655 Yup, the same steps apply, you just have to put the colours on and be sure not to mix them (unless that's the ppoint)

  • @ChuBrokeMyGaydar so u can use a paint brush to apply paint to fabric?

  • @ChuBrokeMyGaydar sorry acidently voted u down ment to vote up.

  • @blackdawn88655 S'okay :) And yeah it really doesn't matter what kind of brush or sponge you use as long as you follow the correct steps. Just be careful when using a brush, you want to be sure it will transfer onto the fabrc without smearing, so you may have to play around with the pressure you apply the brush with for awhile :))

  • @ChuBrokeMyGaydar thanks! :) this will be reallly helpful. im sick an tired of paying so much for a t shirt that i only usally wear for a year.

  • Nice video guys! Creative way to make a press :-)

  • What kind of material is in the hoop?

  • love the music! sounds like something from Amelie :D thanks for the vid too

  • i believe he was ironing over bounty paper it looked like it

  • is the ink machine washable ?

  • i have been TRYING to look for those things everywere, but i cant find it!

could you possibly give me the links to where to get the MOD podge/sponge/inks/ and the ring?!

  • @SnorlaxFood The ring actually an embroidery hoop. You could probably get all of these supplies at a crafts store.. =)

  • @SnorlaxFood

dude i just came back from walmart

    they sell all of these

  • i saw your T Shirt making video with the Sexy Bang and yeahh. :P

i have been TRYING to look for those things everywere, but i cant find it!

could you possibly give me the links to where to get the MOD pudge/sponge/inks/ and the ring?!

  • at 1:17 when ur ironing..what is that? a napkin? transparent paper? grease paper?

  • where could i get those sponges? or i could make one? xD

  • thank you for the entertaining, efficient how to, for people who just... "Get It". i now know that with the simple example you just provided me, i will be doing thing for ever!!! :)

  • What was the paper you ironed with?

  • how many prints do you usually get out of a screen like this? And is mod podge the best glue to use? -thanks -looks great by the way!

  • details on where to get each item from would be great, dont leave out anything like that because seeing what to use is one thing, but NOT knowing exactlly where to get it is awhole nother story.

  • what kind of mesh do you use ?

  • how long do you have to wait after you apply the fabric ink?

and is that wax paper that you are ironing on?

  • I'm wondering what material the screen itself is made of, it looks like one of those cross stitch frames with the screen draped across it......but what is the screen material? can it be bought at a local hardware shop? (making it truly the poor man's screen printing process)? i am poor, hence highly curious about this method...can't afford no fancy screen if i want to eat my kraft dinner tonight. please advise?

  • whats the fabric you used?

  • whats the fabric?

  • that's a lot of work for one color print. They put out these new image transfer sheets that print soft, stretchy, vibrant full color images on most material. All you need is an iron and any ink jet printer click my channel to check out the demo video.

  • Well done

  • how do you make the letter ...i cant get that part

  • it loks lik a paper towl

  • What are you ironing over it with?

I watched another video like this and they said grease paper, but I don't know what that it. :C

  • @BeyondBirthday1Alone it looks like a paper towel in this vid. grease paper is the same thing as wax paper i believe

  • can u do this with spray paint , just wondering it should sound stupid. i want to do this with a high detailed image on a wall

  • Are you able to reuse the screen? Does it just take a washing, and it's good to go for another shirt?

    Awesome video by the way...

  • what kind of paper was that when you were doing the ironing?

  • Maybe I missed it, but what type if fabric is used for the screen? I have tons of fabric, and all the other materials and I'd love to not have to go out and buy anything if I don't have to.

  • is that a wax paper or paper towel

  • I love the music! Nice video.

  • can anyone tell me what's the background music playing?? loved it!

  • @djzardonic Sounds like Les Jours Tristes (instrumental) by Yann Tiersen from the Amelie soundtrack to me.

  • love the music and transitions .^_^.

  • This is such a cool video; very good illustration of a home process. Thanks for sharing. Check out my videos for explanations of the screen printing process. Questions welcome.

  • HI i want to do this onto metal..

what is the material you are using..and what ink/paint...and glue cheers..very interesting

  • nobody throw out those old mimeograph machines. The revolution will be on those things.

  • Can the same items and process be applied to screen printing a poster? or anything on paper?

  • I'm no expert, but I'd say the only thing you'd have to change in this process if you were to use it on paper would be the ink you use. The ink used on shirts is different from the ink you would apply to paper.

  • Wouldn't you just print it out from a computer?

  • good job and it look so good!

  • why do you have iron the shirt and can i use just any kind of paper to iron it with?

  • Ironing the shirts helps cure, or set, the ink. It's just a way to make the ink stay adhered to the shirt longer. As for the paper, that's just to separate the iron surface from the ink itself so the ink is protected from sticking to the iron. You can use just about anything to drape over the ink when you're ironing over it.

  • what's the name of the song that is playing...???

    please help me...???

  • Les Jours Tristes by Yann Tiersen. It's off the Amelie movie soundtrack.

  • whoa whoa whoa, what did you do with the mod podge? what are the steps between :40 to :43? I'd like to know how to do that.

  • You trace the image on the screen itself and apply the glue to the areas you don't want ink to penetrate. Make sure to smooth out both sides of the screen when applying the ink, as you don't want anything seeping through to the other side causing bumps in your screen.

  • i love it dude. whats the materials??

  • i like the way the tutorial is made like a movie =)

  • i love the music.

  • Can you make an additional video on the step between the pencil and the image on the screen PRETTY PLEASE?

  • @Lschuurmanable

Basically all I did was take some of that Hodge Podge glue show in the video and painted all the negative space on my screen. I let the glue dry over night. Then I applied a second layer of glue (again on the negative space). The idea here is to apply glue to every part of the screen that you don't want glue to penetrate. Do yourself a favor and lay the glue on thick to increase the life of your screen.

  • @jkrelt Hi, i am sorry, could you please explain with more details this process. Hey man, thanks for the video btw!

  • @Lschuurmanable This is extremely clever! Did you pick up the textile paint at a craft store or would i have to order it online?

  • happy with this one

  • Wow! That is meticulous work in making the stencil. Great home brew! Cool looking prints. Nice video. Check out my videos for tutorials on screen printing and heat transferring tee shirts. Questions welcome.

  • lol-- he used a paper towel to iron over the image. =P

i recommend using parchment paper, but wax paper works just fine as well.

  • excuse me..what kind of paper u use to ironed the logo?

  • is grease paper waxed paper?

  • nope

  • pretty clever

  • You should probably mention that you need to put a piece of cardboard or something inside the shirt or whatever you're printing on so the ink doesn't bleed through to the back of the shirt and look stupid.

  • music from amelie! you rock. so does this tutorial, thanks.

  • What kind of material where you using to iron over the image? Please let me know!

  • grease proof paper under the iron

  • u could use oven grease paper

  • i wasnt quite sure what you did after you traced. how did the logo become black? im guessing you put the glue on the area outsid of the design, but what made the logo black? and what material did you use in the loom?

  • Man, you could make some cash at flea markets with this. Get cheap 1 color shirts like red, black, white and screen up a popular design like Fox or something lol. Illegal, but still would work.

  • what other glue can u use instead of mod podge?

  • pva

  • Thank You so mUch.....This was Easy....when i make one i will video respond you...:)

  • looks very cool, but what's the screen made of?

  • How much money do you have invested in equipment? You'll probably notice by the name of this video that screen printing isn't something I'm willing to put much money into. If you have a faster way, with cheep equipment, I'm all ears. I make and sell many of these.

  • :D haha that was a great video! Love the shirt.

  • Nice home brew! Check out my videos for tutorials on screen printing and heat transferring tee shirts. Questions welcome.

  • okay, i get most of this, but im very lost at what happened between drawing the image and it all of a sudden being black and what- at about 0:41-0:43.

Then I become even more confused at 1:00-1:09, how is it that the black part was the part that ended up on the shirt??

Someone please clarify this for me, thanks so much ;)

  • the black was from a previous print, as the screens are reusable. as long as you rinse the excess ink away, the holes will not be clogged, the black you see is just the ink on the thin lines that make the holes, not the holes clogged.

He traced the image with a pencil, then applied a non-water soluble glue to the negative, basically he clogged all the holes that he did not want ink to go through.

then finally he applied the textile fabric ink onto his picture.

  • Thanks a lot of posting Raisonbran, one of these days i'll add some annotations to the video. Your post is accurate.

  • I've made over 100 t-shirts with this one screen. Shirt 100 was just as good quality as shirt 1.

  • I don't see the point of putting this method down, it is a very interesting way of introducing oneself in screen printing and then deciding if you want to go further or not, I think your comment is not very "openminded". Think before you write, mylifewithoutmeat.

  • Dude, are you high? his print came out clean. Not everyone has unlimited resources to match their imagination. Some of us do the best we can with what we have.

  • is this way better than just cutting out a stencil and putting the paint on like that...?

  • If you cut a stencil it will be difficult to get the details inside the drawing, like the white spots inside the letters.

  • Thats pretty cool. Check out my videos for tutorials on screen printing tee shirts. Questions welcome.

  • I LOVE YOU

  • good job dude, it looks great... where did u get the mesh material?

  • Nice video!!! Ian Tyersen in the music background nice touch!!!! lolo

  • Very professional. I like it...

  • I got a better one!Don't be a dumb fuck! :D

This was totally easy if you don't understand, you are probably retarted.

  • Thank you so much!! I want to get a few shirts out there with my musician name on them. :D

  • Nice video conveying the process without words. Did I catch a twins hat it that last shot!

  • You got it...go twins!

  • Check out my channel for videos explaining the screen printing process. The channel is dedicated to teaching the basic principles of shirt printing.

  • where can i get the mod podge stuff

  • Search "drawing fluid" on screen print supply websites.

  • thank you =)

  • You want to iron the image to apply heat to the ink. In doing some research, I found out that in conventional screen printing, you need to heat the image using ultraviolent light in order for the ink to take effect and set in. Instead of the ultraviolent light, I just use an iron. Iron each side of the image for 3 minutes. As shown, I put a paper towel between the iron and the shirt. Good luck to all!

  • question: whats the purpose of ironing the image after, and what kind of paper was used for that, thank you.

  • Plastisol Ink Mesh Count General Guideline:

    24-86 Mesh - Specialty Inks

110 - Most Popular for Light Colors such as White.

156 - Most Popular for Black. Holds More detail than 110 but less ink will pass through the screen.

200-230 - Ink will need to be reduced. Holds high detail. Good for Solvent based and Water based Inks.

230-305 - Mostly used for super fine detail half tones and CMYK Process Prints, Solvent and Water base.

  • can i do this in multiple layers/coullors?

and whut does them inkts cost?

  • what song was that playing in the background?

  • I believe it is Les Jours Tristes by Yann Tiersen, off of the Amelie Soundtrack

  • SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET Can't wait to try this!!!!! :) I love unconventional ways to do things. :)

  • see the comment right above urs. use a little enginuity here...its diy

  • Enjoyed the poor mans way silk screening. Anyway, you Mod Podge on the top of the screen around the image? Thanks!

  • Exactly. You sort of paint the mod podge on the outside of the screen (the opposite side that you'd put the ink on). I put on two layers. Spend some extra time doing this, you'll thank yourself later as your lines will be more defined.

Also, you obviously want to mod-podge everything where you don't want inc to show up. Paint the negative space with the podge.

  • what kind of screen did you use?

    can you just use pantyhose?

  • I went to a fabric store and sorted through their scrap bin. I'm not sure of the exact thread count of the fabric I selected, however it had a medium consistency compared to the rest of the ones in the bin. Too thin=ink will seep through. Too thick=not enough ink will penetrate the shirt. The best bet is to experiment around with a few different scrap fabrics before actually gluing up your screen.

  • just about any arts and crafts store will sell the glue, embroidery hoop, screen, and brushes. You might have to look around a bit to find the textile ink. good luck!

  • where can i buy the supplies?
