gee...our country could only left our dead soldiers away in the grave yard on the mountain; never could recall to do something for them, even just a sound tapping. that's how i think that our young generation would never have passion of serving the country; they would be forgotten somehow, someday, after they dedicated their lives to the country.
My Son Is Military Police and Guards the Tomb this very day. I know it breaks his heart to hear this although he's lost no family to War, he's lost his father to Much Else. My Hat is off to him, You GO TED!
Day is Done,Gone The Sun From the lakes..From The Hills From The sky.....all is well Safely rest....God is nigh Fading Light....Dims The Sight And a Star...Gems The Sky Gleaming bright from afar Drawing nigh.....falls the sky Thanks and praise...of our days Neaith the sun...Neath the stars Neath the sky, This we know.....god is nigh
THANK YOU for all of your sacrifices...Veterans, I am grateful for your services; actives (veterans in training), I praise you for your continued diligence. WE ARE ALL SAFER BECAUSE OF YOU..God bless and BRING YOU HOME TO US SOON....
A Union captain, Robert Eliicombe one night heard the cries of a dying man from behind the Union fort. Without knowing if it was a Confederate or Union soldier, he went out to save him, risking his life.
After he dragged the man to safety, he realized it was a Confederate. Also, it was his son. His son had been studying music in the South and enlisted without telling his dad.
They had a funeral out of respect for the captain and they played this song bc it was found in the sons coat pocket.
Sorry, fencingwerewolf, this story is not true. To read the true story, see the book, Taps, Notes from a Nation's Heart by Richard Schneider. I should know, I am quoted in the book.
Actually, Mr. Schneider used most of the material from "24 Notes That Tap Deep Emotions" Check out the Tapsbugler website for lots of information on Taps
And he credits the author, Jari Villanueva and acknowledges him personally for his help in the book. I just wanted to make sure visitors to this video are made aware that the story told by fencingwerewolf is a complete fabrication.
Mr Schneider contacted me and asked me if I had any thoughts on Taps and I wrote back my thoughts to him. He then included my thoughts, along with others, inserted at various points throughout the book.
As a veteran myself and one who's only uncle is burried there I can say that every time i hear that song I realize I truly have come to hate war. I hate war. it is not to be glorified but should be seen for what it is.
i just don't feel like i've done enough for my country. i served, i have a wife and three children. we have a humble life. in 2006 when we visited WASHINGTON, D.C., and went to ARLINGTON there was a burial of a U.S. soldier. as we respectfully walked by, my ten year old son asked his 14 year old brother "what happened to that man"? my 14 year old son turned to him and said "he defended AMERICA and FREEDOM, now shut up and do as dad told you, behave, and show respect".
