And btw - did you feel it somewhat awkward to photograph nude models in the beginning? I suppose you soon learn to think of it as photography and less of something sexual. Same thing as working in a bank maybe - where you eventually don't think about it's money you're really handling.

@JanErikEdvartsen haha, interesting analogy. Well, a beautiful nude is still a beautiful nude, but yes, in all forms of photography (and you are right, probably all professions) you learn to focus on the job at hand and not get distracted.

@thatnikonguy for sure, and yet - as a photographer who works in weddings, music, portraiture and events mainly, and not in nudes so far - I do fear that if i got in and started editing images like these my wife might not feel quite co agreeable to my getting a canon 1dx in march!!

I guess you will need to seek permission from your boss/wife before moving into the field (or buying new gear) :) In seriousness though, of course you need to consult with those important to you, to know they are ok with it. I haven't found anyone have a problem with it - your friends/family know you well, they would hopefully assume the best rather than the worst.

Matt, If I were you i'd use the 70-200 on most if not all of those shots.. blow out the background from a distance... the shots with her walking towards you really would've been better if the ppl were blown out & some of the water shots in the previous video.. the backgrounds were too distracting.. Just my opinion, I much prefer blown out fore/back-grounds to bring emphasis on the model.

Matt, I was out with a mate at a beach near Manly, I forget the name of it but when I see my mate next week end, I'll find out the name because the beach has an awesome view point on the headland which is accessible, I'm most likely gonna make a short little video of the spot next week end but it'd be a great spot to take a model, I'll keep you posted for sure man!

@justme76 cheers.You could. The next beach around was clothing optional, so if people were offended, we could have moved there. But we chose the mostly nude areas as less public, and kept the public nudity to a minimum, and tried to be when no kids around.
