  • okay first I just wanted to say you have the MOST ADORABLE BABY EVER! But that was so said to see the discomfort on her face :(

  • What a cute Baby!! She looks like her mom,.. Glad she's doing well

  • she looks like she's just twitching

  • Babies have a great ability to override damaged brain tissue and build neurons around it.Sadly, there are some times when that is not possible.

I am glad yours got better.

  • wow, this is exactly what my son was doing but he only has them while sleeping. then he wakes up screaming and his left side doesn't do anything for about 10 to 15 minutes. he's on meds now and has been doing a lot better. check him out on my channel. thanks for posting this vid

  • Hi, I just put a video on with song I wrote for a little Girl (a family friend's baby) who was born premature. I would like to share it with you. It's called "Blood of My Blood".

  • Recently my 6 months old was diagnosed with focal seizures . . . . . She forgot how to hold her bottle . . . She forgot to even breathe when she is drinking her formula . . . I feel so bad for her . . . . Praying she grows out of it!

  • Even though I am not a parent, I think the courage you took in putting this up is an incredibly useful tool for parents and relatives who are scared and need help.

  • Do children that have focal seizures usually grow out of them? My son had one 3 days after his 1 bday and another one about 2 weeks ago.

  • sorry continued from below! ....I remembered looking at your post when our son was in and it gave me inspiration and hope that our little boy would be well. He had an MRI and we were told he had a lot of permanent damage to his left & right frontal lobes, obviously we were devasted & expected the worst. He is now 19 months old and is doing perfect. He's been off his meds since he was 6mnths and is developing 'normally'! We feel SOOO lucky to have our fantastic little boy :) Thanks again. x

  • @Manky118 Thank you for your kind comments. This is exactly the reason we posted this. I just remember being on the phone and trying to get someone to understand what we were seeing. How complicated it was when they couldn't see it for themselves. So when she started the second seizure I told my husband to get the camera. I am so glad you little one is doing well too. Having this posted and getting responses about it has reaffirmed how lucky we really are to have her healthy.

  • Hi, I just wanted to comment to say that your video is very helpful to all those new parents out there who suffer with their newborns. The updates are fantastic too as this gives a lot of parents hope when they are in that very dark period of not knowing what is going to happen to their babies. So thank you very much for your posting. Our son was born with seizures in Aug 09, which he had for 4 days. At the time it seemed like months had passed that he was in neonatal for! I remembered

  • i have a 4 months old baby girl. she had her first attack when she was 45 days n she is now under treatment

  • bless her heart

  • y would u post this online? But i am so sorry about your baby i hope she gets better!

  • @TheCsoccer5 So other parents, like me, can compare and understand better what their babies are doing, and to help diagnose seizures so we know what to look for. x

  • That look of fear in the mother's face is heartbreaking. I'm glad everything turned out okay for you guys.

  • This makes me sad. :(

I have two babies myself.. anything I read that involves anything wrong with a baby makes me sappy.

    Lol.

  • vikassharda @babyseizure. Same here. My daughter would be of 3 months on coming 12th. Keep on updating about her health and I will come to you if there is any query. Wish you all the best and speedy recovery of your child. Thanks.

  • @babysiezure. Thanks for the information and concern. My baby too had oxygen deprivation in her brain at the time of her birth and had seizure attacks. But now she is 2.5 months old and out of baby ICU for last 2 months. All her functions are normal. Her treatment is on here in India. So far she had no seizure attacks since her last two attacks. I am hoping she will lead a healthy life without any problem of any sort in the future. Is this case similar to yours?

  • @vikassharda - Yes, that sounds very similar. She is now 3 and very healthy. She has no developmental, learning issues. She is a smart little girl.

  • @babyseizure HOLA YO TAMVIEN TENGO MI BEBE DE 2 YEARS Y EL TIENE LOS MISMOS MOVIMIENTOS,PERO LOS DOCTORES DICEN QUE MI BEBE SUFRIO UN DERAME CEREBRAL Y PORESO SUFRE LAS COMVUCIONES A MI BEBE LE AFECTA TODO EL LADO DERECHO Y SE ATRASO UN POCO EN EL ABLA.AL TUYO LE PASA LO MISMO?

  • @vikassharda for how long duration ur baby had problem of seizure? kindly reply me

  • Dang that must have been scarry.

  • did the baby have a high body temp? most cases in neonates and infants is that they suffer from febrile seizures due to high body temps

  • @91fordkiller - She did not have a high fever. She had some sort of oxygen deprivation close to delivery. She is 3 now and healthy and happy. I witnessed a friend's child have a febrile seizure. It was full body and much more violent than this. She stopped breathing, but I was able to position her so her airway reopened. She is also fine now.

  • ask her doctor if it's okay to put a little bit of wheat germ in a bottle of your breast milk, or something. You want her to eat manganese-rich foods and crush some up some bean sprouts for her to eat.

  • @communitysharer1 - we currently feed her lots of wheat germ and other similar foods. She is 3 now and normal and healthy.

  • I have a14 month old baby boy. he had seizure attactks since a three days he born. and until now 14 month. and in that time ilham spend his time only from hosspital to hospital. now he stayed in hospital RSCM in indonesia . and the medicine he used is midazolam.

I really thank you for the best dr. irawan mangunatmadja. specialis in pediatrics of neoron

  • @feby1016 - I am so sorry. I know how hard that must be.

  • I have a 8 days old baby girl. She so far had two seizure attacks(confirmed by Doctors). She is still in the baby ICU ward of the hospital in India.I am little tensed as docs are pointing at meningitis or other neuro diseases. What can probably go wrong wid her? Does nebdy has any clue over here?

  • @vikassharda - In our case, there was a traceable oxygen deprivation issue with the right frontal lobe of her brain close to the time she was born. That part of the brain is the last to develop and so, in our case, she has been able to create a healthy pathway around the fault in the brain and no longer has seizures.

  • @babyseizure.I have same kind of seizure in my baby boy. He is now 45 days old. when he was 8 days old, had the 1st seizure. His all the medical tests are clear. but again seizure has been started. some time it prolongs for 20 min and some time for 10 minutes. Any body knows what i should do. Dr suggested epival syrup. Any clue or suggestion please?

  • Oh! my i was trying to researcha little on these symptoms my baby does the same. Her eye rolls all the way to the corner of here eyes. but she has trouble focusing after.. she aso did this neborn she just had 1 today and she is 5 weeks.

  • How is she now? I know this must be very hard for you. I am glad you learned something from our video.

  • looks like a seizure to me.

  • I don't think that's actually a problem...I'm no expert but I had the same thing when I was a baby andt the doctors ended up saying it was just the brain developing faster than the baby...so you may just have a really smart kid.

  • We've heard similar. She is currently developmentally on target in some areas and advanced in others - such a big relief considering what they prepared us for. Congratulations on making it through as well!

  • she should not be vaccinated any further. Read the package inserts.

  • At two days old, she probably had no vaccine.

  • Hepatitis B vaccine is on the schedule as a "Birth dose". Sometimes they delay it a day or two until they are on their way out of the hospital but it is entirely possible this baby got a vaccine at 1 hour or less of age, and VERY likely, unless they fought not to get it, that she got the HepB by 2 days of age.

  • I'm sorry, I was responding to a previous post which said that, at 2 days of age, baby probably had not had any vaccines. Sorry for the confusion.

  • She had not had Hep B vaccine at the time. But appreciate the heads up. I realize vaccination is such a sensitive topic and require extensive research and knowledge on the part of the parents.

  • oh my god. you are sick.

  • Thank you for defending us. I realize there will be this type of thing, but there will be more people who learn from it. So, I'll take the risk. But there is a reason none of our personal information is here.

  • Thanks for sharing, this type of video is priceless. I came across it learning about it... Thanks for posting,..,

  • her seizures in this video look EXACTLY like the ones my daughter had when she was just a few days old. she was put on phenobarbitol for 6 months and hasn't had any since on the medication and none since being taken off it.

  • i will pray for milla too

  • That so sad watching that gorgeous little baby having a fit, made me cry because she was still looking up at her mum so glad she's grown out of them and is well :-)

  • Ohh poor baby :(

  • Wow, that must have been so scary for you. I'm glad to read she is ok!

Can these seizures affect neural development in babies?

  • my moms frineds baby has seizures like that too but itd eyes also twitched

  • She is a beautiful little girl glad she is ok how lucky u r too have a baby so cute that so obviously loves you lots by the glint in her eye in the words of sandra bullock

    "be well" xx

  • I am going through the same thing with my 5 week old baby, who has had seizures since day 3 of life. I was wondering where you were able to get help? We are not finding any answers or control for his seizures and I'm looking for anywhere that I can take him for help!

  • desperatemom 56 - I've sent your a private message with a bunch of information. Let me know if you have more questions. I am sorry you are struggling through this.

  • yep it will grown out of it.

  • poor baby

  • My neice is having the same troubles, though on her right side. She was born yesterday.

Seeing something like this is really reassuring, thanks for posting. (:

  • ooh, that sweet sweet baby...will she grow out of this or is this forever

  • She has grown out of it. The video information gives more details.

  • poor little thing

  • we were just in the hospital w. my dad and this looks exactly like what he is doing. it is so scary watching anybody have these let alone my own father.

  • I hope they figure out what is causing his problems soon. Sometimes not knowing is worse than just dealing with a problem. Good luck!

  • Thanks for the video. Very ilustrating.

I wish your baby be so healty and happy.

  • Thank you. She is super happy and now has a clean bill of health.

  • This is exactly what my son Jason did first day, put on Pheno but sadly at 4 weeks had massive brain bleeds that injured him greatly. I am SO glad your little girl grew out of these. We still don't know why things went so bad with Jason but we are lucky he's still with us - 5 years old - can't wlak, talk or see but he can smile and he's our little angel.

  • Isn't it interesting what amazing gift your children can be? Even when they are struggling. I am glad you've got the obvious strength to look past the struggle and see the lovely child.

  • I am happy to see your daughter is doing well. My son was morn 4/3/08 & had similar seizures when he was a day & half old. Thankfully he hasn't had any since day 1 in NICU, but is still on pheno & will be for a while. Was it a difficult delivery? I plan on using your video to educate his caretakers on what they are looking for when I go back to work. Thank you for the video and hope. Many well wishes to you and your family.

  • This delivery was super easy, especially compared with my previous one where the cord was wrapped around my older daughter's neck - scary! Thank goodness you son seems to be in the clear. I hear privately from many people who are not so lucky.

  • Aw, I hope she's ok now. But why would you record something like this?

  • We recorded the video so that when we took her to the ER they would be able to see what was happening and know that we weren't just seeing normal neurological newborn stuff - babies can be pretty twitchy and spastic when they are born. This explanation is in the description of our video, but I thought I'd let you know directly too. Obviously we wouldn't just record it for fun.

We've posted it online at the request of the hospital - they teach their staff to recognize this type of seizure.

  • P.S. She is doing great now, almost a year old and walking. Check out our other video to see her doing well at 6 months old.

  • if people have seizure place them to the side of the body to prevent choking her his saliva

  • This is great advice and indeed what you should do. I was watching her closely the whole time and would have turned her if I'd seen she was having trouble breathing or choking. This particular seizure did not seem to affect her that way.

  • my also had the same kind of seisures when she was 14 days old.. she has tuberous sclerosis and is on medication, as of now she is on vigabatrin and topamax.. but she's still having seizures.. ur so lucky that ur baby only had them for a day..

  • I'm so sorry you are still struggling with this. It is such a horrible thing that I am sure weighs on you every day. You'll find it is amazing how strong you'll be - just for her. Good luck.

  • did it pass out after wards?

  • No, she did not pass out afterwards, but seizures can be tiring and some people do feel sleepy and confused afterwards.

  • it's true they do, i've had two of them and i was like that from both of my seizures. I've been living with seizures ever since i was 20 and i'm 22 now. i was diagnosed with it june 2006. last one i had was in sep 15, 2006. Haven't had one ever since.

  • Did "it" pass out?

  • No, she did not pass out afterwards, but seizures can be tiring and some people do feel sleepy and confused afterwards.

  • I wasn't asking a question. There was another person who called your baby "it" instead of "he" or "she"

  • Thanks for pointing that out. I somehow missed their comment. YouTube is organizing them strangely.

  • yeah thats true

  • capricorn7086 - I hope that you continue to be healthy. What a scary thing. Thank you for commenting.

  • No, she did not pass out afterwards, but seizures can be tiring and some people do feel sleepy and confused afterwards.

  • may i know what causes it?

is it just normal? do all babies have seizures?

  • All babies have reflexes that can be mistaken for seizures, but what she is having here is not normal. In her case, she had a little brain damage from oxygen deprivation (maybe during her delivery) that is most likely the cause of her seizures. As she gets older, the damage is being repaired by her brain. She is currently a very normal, happy baby.

  • Just like you are witnessing the epileptic seizure on this video, I learned the hard way from my own family and friends, it's a life time haunting trauma and agony to see your loved ones being struck with seizures. Seizures destroy families. Too bad, there's NOT much that could be done to help the patient or the family. All that "help" advertised by "caring foundations and agencies" is nothing more than empty promises and bureaucratic circus. We are on our own, Good luck.

  • last night my sister had a seizure shes like 2 and her eyes rolled allthe way into the back of her head and the bed was vibrationg and when we put her in cold water and called 911 she looked like she was just dead. hanging their but she woke up and was taken to the hospital. i hope that your babys okay

  • Thank you for your well wishes! She is doing great. She only had seizures for 1 day of her life. We have not seen them since. She was on medication for 9 months just to be safe, but we're taking her off of it now.

  • I hope your sister is okay. Was she running a high fever. Febrile (fever) seizures are not uncommon in little ones. If that was it, she'll probably grow out of it.

  • yea she is muc better now, and it was because of a high fever. She had a fever for at least 1 and a half weeks. But shes much better now :)

  • baby so cute

i hope the baby is doing better now.

  • I had a seizure when i was a week old. It was because my cousins were watching a concert on tv (They had a really bright TV) and then it happened.

  • that's gotta be rough. that little baby was looking right into his mommas eyes.

  • I am so sorry for this. You have an absolutely beautiful baby. It brings tears to my eyes to see this. How she's just looking at you in your eyes, so helpless and how you have to look back into her eyes knowing there's only so much you can do, when you would give her anything in the entire world. I'm praying for your family. Take care.

  • Babysz, I read ur reply and I figured u already hav but, I had to share it tu u, a "just-in-case" was all. Sry, I had to make sure I guess. I hope for the best for all there. I started at 8, my baby sister started at 5 weeks. Keep "MOMMY'S" strenght goin. Best wishes to all. RAY

  • This is just a sugestion to replace or cover tables, shelves, bedframes and so-on that has nasty ugly corners. So when she starts walkin and stuff that danger will be gone with hurting herself on those nasty corners. Believe me I hope that will never be a prob and she just outgrows em. This vid brings tears and I had to share this just in case it hadnt crossed ur mind yet. I am so srry, RAY

  • Dear Babysz, I am so sorry, u can see it right away. Im 1 with 11 diff kinds for 26 years. I know she's still an infant and I truly hope and pray she out grows em. I just want to suggest, if u havnt thought of this yet, wich u prob hav. If she remains as and as u all continue to grow together. the furniture and stuff u hav, beware of the corners around the house. CONT.

  • She is an adorable little baby. I'm so sorry she went through that. But I am very glad to know that she is doing great now.

  • Seizures are invisible demons that one can not see them coming nor can protect and defend oneself against. The invisibility of the striking momentum makes victims hostages of seizures. The helplessness of being a hostage of unpredictable deadly strike from within keeps one constantly restricted from ordinary life. Except for the victims and their families, who gives a damn any way?

So much for a civilized caring society?

    Good luck every body!

From another helpless victim of Epilepsy.

  • You guys are in my prayers......

  • Hi babyseizure my son is 12 years old and suffers from all types of seizures including drop attacks. He will have hemispherectomy surgery soon. I've been through this since he was 6 1/2 months old. I am soo sorry for what you are going through. Please message me if you have any questions.

  • Excellent video. Having a child with epilepsy, I can recognize it instantly, but can see why doctors would dismiss it in a 2 day old. Do you recall if she cried after her seizures? Just curious about her post ictal phase. Thanks!

  • Her third seizure that day was very severe and it made her mad. She cried after that one, but for the most part she was calm and seemed fine. Good luck with Jenelle. She sure is gorgeous.

  • my son at 3 weeks had the same type of seizures, but now at 6 mo. he is still not seizure free. he has had a few other types of seizures and is on high doses of phenobarbital and keppra 3 times a day. after 3 times in the hospital we are still looking for answers. good luck to you. hope and pray for the best.

  • I can imagine how rough it must be, all the dosing and around the clock worry. Not to mention the horror of the hospital stays. We tend to suspend our girl's meds into her bottle of formula and just make sure she drinks the whole thing around the time she is due for meds. It works very well. Good luck to you as well. Thank you!

  • It sounds like our babies are the same age too. Was he born in April?

  • hi you've got a pretty little girl there. congratulations!

i was wondering if i can use your video for a presentation i am doing? thanks in advance.

  • I tried to send you a message, but you have all but your friends blocked. What kind of presentation is it?

  • Wishing you and your family the best. I know how hard it is to watch your little baby having a seizure.

  • Thanks for all your comments!

  • babyseizure,

my son, Brice, has had seizures like your little one's. He is 16 months old now, on phenobarbital and topamax, and is doing well. He was seizure free for a year, then had what they think was a partial seizure. The doctors have never found a reason for the seizures and we hope every day that he will outgrow them. How is your little one doing?

    ciera13navyreject

  • Dear Ciera13navyrejct, Violet is doing fine. We've stopped increasing her medications and are letting her out grow the medication before doing a formal tapering regimen. She seems to be seizure free and developmentally on track or even advanced. I am sure you understand how you watch every little thing to be sure they are doing well. Good luck with Brice.

  • Post your stories of epilepsy/seizures at livingdisabledDOTcom And if somebody knows an alternative treatment that has positive effect on seizures, I`d be happy to hear from you. Thanks a lot!

  • Dear Tihauga, I've taken a look at your nice new site. I'll go back when I've got a little more time - busy, busy parent of a newborn and preschooler. Feel free to link to the video.

  • I just discovered your reply.... Its not my site, actually, but a very good friend of mine, whos husband are having several seizures a day. I wanted to advertise a bit for it, cause epilepsy is a very misunderstood disease that should get a lot more attention! I hope you`re doing fine, your baby is beautiful!

  • Didn't I see you on TV? Or maybe it was a different baby seizure, I don't know, it was a long time ago.

  • Dear Koumori28, We've never been on TV. Violet was just born in April.

  • your baby needs medicine, very small dose of valium maybe .1 mg

  • she's on anti-seizure medication, or did u not see that; or was this a put down?

  • Dear FamilyGal70 - thanks for jumping in here. I was going to do it, but you beat me. I am choosing to see it as a kind suggestion for now.

JayEmp420 - she is on phenobarbital to control her seizures. It is working very well for her. We just have to increase it frequently because she is a fast growing baby.

  • it was a suggestion nothing ill harm, but u should try valium instead of phenobarbital that shit is lethal

  • We're actually working on stopping her meds completely now to see if she has out grown the seizures. If not, they'll want her to try Keppra which is supposed to have the fewest side effects - who knows - they all mess with the brain a bit.

  • Dear Candy, How sweet, Your baby is a bundle of beauty. Looking at your beautiful baby being struck with seizure is heart breaking. I feel for you & I hope & pray your Little Angel outgrows her seizures. I'm glad to hear her medications is helping. Please stay strong & brave to fight these hospitals & this menace. Make sure to ask questions & demand answers & procedures from these hospitls. Keep fighting, God speed, Take care.

  • I've just added a bit more information to the video description as well.

  • Violet is doing well at 10 weeks on phenobarb to control continued suspected seizure activity. She seems developmentally normal or even advanced, which is such a relief. We will taper her off the phenobarb in another two months to see if her brain has built some bridges around the faulty pathway. Her injury was very subtle, from decreased oxygenation close to delivery, in the right frontal lobe. Thank you for your well wishes.

  • How is your baby doing? This makes me so sad. My daughter didn't start having problems until she was 3 1/2 months. I hope your sweet baby is doing well.

  • I hope Vivian is doing well and that she out grows the seizures - which seems pretty common. She looks great though!

  • Have they done a recent MRI?

  • When the seizures first happened with my oldest we were so stupid and listened to a nurse at the hospital who told us it was hiccups! When we went back on the 3rd day the hospital treated us like overprotective new parents. I thank God to this day that she had a seizure in the hospital or we would have been sent home, and she would have stopped breathing in the car instead of the hospital!
