  • Great serious documentary feel about this!

  • it is not about how hard it it, I just love vert thats it!

  • Tony Alva is old now,all he does is carve bowls,If you want to see some sick skating check out Elementality,Its a good video, and Bam has the best part,he is the best on Elemant, and The Band CKY is in it,check it out.

  • in the clip at 0.27 he reminds me of frank zappa

  • Such a living legend! Can't wait for Summer X Games 17! They make it look so smooth but the intensity is crazzzy!! July 28th weekend can't come soon enough!

  • most of the skater kids nowdays that talk negative about pool skating or anything other than street are prob like 16 years old and wont even be skating in a few more years anyway. Im 37 still skate only 1 of my friends still does. Anything all those kids say doesnt matter to me because i dont even consider them real skaters they havnt really paid any dues or even been seriously injured yet.

  • Lords of dogtown is an awesome movie. You guys probably aren't here 'cuz of it, but I am. :)

  • Pool skating is like 10x harder that stairs.

  • tony alva is a fucking OG.

  • "sometimes just being human and relating to people - that'll get you in there. But it's rare that that happens" #be_human

  • Good to see Tony's still doing it. One of the godfathers of skating.

  • For sure these guys deserve respect! Tony Alva, Jay Adams and the Dogtown crew/Z-boys invented vert skating. DOn't matter if you're riding an Alva, a Sims or even a palisades longboard. Pool skating rules! But don't forget your pads...very important! I think Smith safety gear is the best deal on skateboard pads.

  • he's sounds exactly like rob zombie

  • I quit skate boarding because I git hated on for only kicking it old school and not doing any inward heelflipps and stuff. But that's so borring! This made me think twice, I'm just gonna go find diy spots. Wish me luck!

  • after watching lords of dogtown i so want to start old school riding... pools, the boards everything! so inspiring! z-boys for life

  • ive noticed how kids to day get things from older kids and agreeing to what they say

  • 17 people are posers

  • @noproofskateboarding And which 17 people are you referring too?

  • @louiebaur the dislikes

  • @louiebaur the dislikers

  • @louiebaur he is talking about the tumbs downs (sorry for bad english)

  • @louiebaur I think he was talking abou tthe 17 dislikes

  • @louiebaur the people who disliked the video that was at 17 at some point.

  • that is why I skateboard.

  • tony alva... KING OF GRINDS!!!!

  • it shames me to say it, but i remember seeing Lords of Dogtown in 2005 when i was 14 and thinking that the skateboarding was really lame. now i'm glad to say that i really appreciate that style of skateboarding and i really wish that more people skated like this. it's a lost art and it would be awesome to see something other than people flying down 15 stairs and handrails

  • I am amazed at how some younger skaters disrespect the pioneers of the sport...without them, skateboarding might never have become what it is. Alva and the other giants of that time raised the bar for everybody. Also, I personally hope for a resurgence of pool skating and vert-based skateparks and skaters.

  • @thefreedomartist It truly is amazing that a lot of skateboarders have no clue where their roots came from.

  • Comment removed

  • @thefreedomartist That's the only thing that makes skateboarding a sport...in fact you can play basketball even if you don't know who the hell is Michael Jordan....these guys are symbols and that's their true power, they made skateboarding not only a simple sport, but much more, a cultural phenomenon that you could study...just if want

  • @santapost -I agree, these guys are icons and deserve our respect, Alva particularly was an extremely well-rounded skater, he excelled in all aspects...

  • These guys used to be the Hot Shots,Now Bam Magara is!Hes the best on Element and Destrocto trucks, this video is for kids ,cuz all they do is carve and go down hills!

  • @XXXGLOCXXX Tony Alva is Ok for an old skateboarder.

  • @XXXGLOCXXX He is actually really good still. Have you ever skated a pool with him in person?

  • 2:08 -There's no set rules... Well. If you knew the skaters of this area there's the "Half-pipe" rule. :L:L:L

  • i bet bam margera could beat his old sorry ass in the bowl, because hes the best on element and destructo trucks.

  • @XXXGLOCXXX serieus? that dipshit bam? bam is a pussy skater, and these guys are the old rods, the gods of that skateboards u ride trying to do a ollie

  • Fuck yeah, I remember this from "Chlorine". badass video

  • i could back 5 that pool easy

  • ALVA FTW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • So inspiring. Iv always gravitated towards this style of skating. that brotherhood still exists decades later. Street skating is just not what it used to be.

  • Me and my friend were going all over Toronto just to find skate spot

  • cool cool cool cool.. alot of the haggard good skaters today owe their look to dog town and Alva.....glad the dirty in skateboarding came back ..

  • uhh dumbass im pretty sure hes not rich.. hows he supposed to build a pool.. anyways its more hardcore to just sneak into backyards

  • yeah baby

  • uncle that's video it's very antique, but it's good

  • xD das video ist ja schon voll alt

  • ''swiming pools..... they come and they go'' I didnt know swimming pools were creatures

  • wow

  • this is wicked thanks for posting

  • Why do I always hear from people who have never met him how awesome he is and then from people that have how much of a douche he is... I want to see for myself.

  • how old are this shit ?! 1980 ?? wtf !

  • 2:00 BMX! :D

    I love bmx :P

  • met him today in Germany!

  • i will see him tomorrow at the VANS DOWNTOWN SHOWDOWN in Hamburg (Germany) 8)

  • Stop having a go at the legends of skateboarding!

  • tony alva is a fucking ass hole, i met him at my local park a few years ago. he was knocking toddlers down and he even pushed down this def kid that was doing k grind down the hand rail...what an ass hole

  • @dbspaceoditty he's tony alva he can do whatever he wants haha

  • @dbspaceoditty Are you kidding?? I met him at the Vans event a few years back. He was nice and cool... and yeh I'm a dude, and his hat got stolen there! ;D

  • @2055g yeah. i was about to smoke a blunt and drink some beer with them after word. but a couple of the guys went to the lake to smoke a duby and got in trouble.

johnny layton was cool. andrew allen was cool. but alva was a complete dick.

  • @dbspaceoditty Nice, and I have an Alva signed board. I personally won't ever try using it. Mainly because it could go for big bucks on Ebay after Alva dies. lol

  • @2055g yeah. my longboard was 40 inches. i was doing ollies down the 7 stair and board slides down the hubba. the boards amazing but im not riding it, it also got signed.

  • @dbspaceoditty wtf...

  • Why don't you just build a pool in your back yard to specs that would be perfect to skate in, instead of illegally crashing in on people's pools? What happens if you get caught? Have you ever been caught? With all of the money you've made over the years you could have a pretty swank backyard of several empty pools to skate. You're getting older, Tony. Pretty soon you won't be able to run away from the cops like you used to do. LOL!

  • @Lainer1 dude lainer your lamer than hell

  • @iamadgod I'm not a dude. LOL!

  • @iamadgod I grew up in Tony's era. I loved his skateboarding. It's just that now he has established himself in the world. He isn't broke. Illegally going into someone's pool now is a moot issue. He has the cash to build a HUGE pool and ride it. Hell, invite all your croney friends to ride it too. It was sort of understandable back in the day when they went pool hopping due to lack of skate areas, and lack of money. Now it's just irresponsible. I'm sure Glen E. Friedman is laughing his ass off!

  • holy shit my dad is in that fuking video hes that fat one his name is tim trudell

  • Pool Skating > Everything Else.

  • tony is young in dis vid

  • how old is the start of the video

  • Such a radical lifestyle! That's the one thing California or other sunny places in the US will always have... Real pools. And Tony Alva is amazing!

  • yo...TA still got the moves brah

  • My uncle had a surfboard from when he was a kid in our shed. It said Alva on it before I knew who he was and it was thrown out when we moved. FML

  • @roidz17 you should put that on FML's website and not youtube

  • @swatlead622 I should, but I'm a rebel who doesn't play by the rules, not even my own

  • @roidz17 lol

  • Can't Alva get any air after all these years? Alva can't get no air. alright.

  • anyone wanna buy his autograph?

  • @OneManSteezKr3w why would someone do that?

  • Alva seems a little burn out

lmao he sais espionage guerilla warfare hahahahhahhaaa

  • Alva just flat rocks! Dude was my here as a kid in England reading the US skate mags I used to nick from the paper shop. Still a hero.

  • Alva's the best! keep skating!

  • Who's the singer of the song?

  • is he still friends with stacey and jay?

  • why is it illegal

  • @ ajthemoonster

  • @hotforjpn hes a skateboarder, not a fashion model

  • @samthelegoman1 Tony Hawk does'nt look like he lives on Skid Row.

  • the only reason its illegal is cause your walking on sombodys property

  • dude of course you can skate in your own pool..

as long's it is YOUR pool and not someone else's pool

  • oh haha lol sorry i thought i heard him say you werent aloud to skate in a backyeard pool

  • more than anyone cares about you.

  • you obviously have no clue about skateboardings history

  • i like tony hawk more

  • Even if you think he's a dick he still deserves respect when it comes to skateboarding. He prob just doesn't like tons of people asking for his autograph when he's in the middle of a skate session. Less talk more skate.

  • he seems like the kind of guy that would be a total dick until you share his attitude towards skating. then hes just a cool dude.

  • he's kinda a jerk..i saw him at kona skatepark in jacksonville.

  • um... so why dosn't he make a pool of his own in his backyard so he dosn't have to do it ilegali?

  • that was 1978 dumdass

  • every pool is different and you never get bored. being bad feels really good. plus why skate the same thing? you never will learn anything new in one place.

  • Do you have to have reasonably loose trucks to skate pools/bowls? or is it all in the legs and carving etc.

  • its the feel of the bowl or pool. Do you have to carve the wall early or ride a couple of feet up more? The loose of the trucks is on you. NO ONE SKATES THE SAME.

  • ITS A style. People can tell tony a. or tony h. skates. Your size does matter like CHRITIAN HOSOI skates. He was small and can bullet thru the pool. You control the board and figure out your trucks. After all you paid for it.

  • the looser the trucks the easier it is to carve

  • hes a complete dick

i met him at lakewood skatepark

  • or maybe your a whiny little bitch

  • hah

he was shoving down little kids in his way

    he was a dick

  • yea he is in maryland he was at a signing he was a dick wheres lakewood

  • yeah he does seem like he loves himself too much

  • tony is awesomebut have u noticed that wen he was young he looks hispanic but wen he is older he looks absolutely white lol

  • never heard of him my friend suggested watching him

  • kys

  • i agree with elementBAM9317...its always cool when guys hang on to their roots...im a big tony alva fan myself

  • i respect the fact that pioneers like him stick to their roots...they do what they have always loved, and havent let new fads change that.

  • mexicans arent really known for skating but they cant prod alva trujillo chaz ortiz
