I think you fail to see the point of this video. People are being arrested everyday for peaceful protest here in America, which violates our constitutional rights to have a voice and speak what we believe in. It's getting to the point where if you walk down the street with a sign, you will be hassled by police. America is and quite possibly will become a Socialist country. The people have lost faith in Capitalism, as our economy is on the verge of collapsing. This is why we feel the way we do.

I don't watch American TV, and I don't live in the US. Maybe that makes a difference here and maybe it doesn't. But to the rest of the world, your country makes about as much sense as two idiots sitting on the ground throwing rocks at each other because it's what they've always done. This protest is idiotic...it ignores the reality of Afghanistan. The protests against health reform are just as idiotic...this "government run plan/government takeover" isn't anywhere in the reforms.

I think you fail to see the point of this video. People are being arrested everyday for peaceful protest here in America, which violates our constitutional rights to have a voice and speak what we believe in. It's getting to the point where if you walk down the street with a sign, you will be hassled by police. America is and quite possibly will become a Socialist country. The people have lost faith in Capitalism, as our economy is on the verge of collapsing. This is why we feel the way we do.

I agree that people should NEVER be arrested for a peaceful protest.
However one of my biggest beefs with America is this "socialist" rhetoric crap. Everyone down there is scared to death of socialism to the point where you won't even let your government do anything useful. We've had single player tax player funded health here for nearly half a century with no loss of liberty. If anything Canada is freer because we work with our government to improve things...we are our own government.

I wasn't necessarily directing my Socialism comment towards health care, though I do not agree with universal health care. I just believe a lot of policies and priorities are changing in our country. It seems as if we are merging to a police state and we are being guided by fear. I really don't appreciate you putting words in my mouth telling me what I believe, because i don't think that way at all. Maybe you should as me my opinion before you assume. The curse of being an American is America's huge success. You are scared that something you do might make America less successful so you believe what you believe and do what you do not because it makes sense, but because it's what you have always believe and what you have always done. You take your examples from the rest of the world only when it comes to what not to do. And when you see your own country doing things you perceive as fitting those examples you freak out. (Eg: Socialism=Nazis)

I have simply taken time to look at how this world, how this country is changing. Sure I am scared, I think a lot of people are. I do not directly associate socialsim with the nazi way, though i have used that extreme example to make a point before. I am more concerned about the government and the police violating my rights that were promised to me by my forefathers, understand?

I see what you're saying, yeah. I think I can understand a little why you guys are scared...both our countries have liberties almost unparalleled around the world, and people are afraid of losing their way of life. We had a similar situation about a decade ago when some people were arrested on capital hill...people were extremely upset about that because our laws and constitution guarantee us a great deal of freedom of expression/speech as well.

The problem is we haven't really been operating under a capitalist system, and haven't for a long time. A freer market than what we have would prevent a lot of the issues we are having. The economy needs to collapse so people wake up and fight back against those that are oppressing us.

I am an idependent voter however I know a lot of people who are on the left and the majority of them are in fact against the war. Personally I have not made up my mind on the war issue.I see valid points on both sides of the argument.

What we started with was corrupted by the same kind of people that are in office now. We need strong term limits and other measures to ensure abuse of power is strictly limited. Being an elected representative should be an honor, not a career. Otherwise, a society strictly based on our Constitution would be far more egalitarian than any other that has come before or since.

True the cops should be on our side, because their pensions and job security are crashing down the elevator shaft along with everybody else! HOWEVER, I don't think protesters as a whole have put enough effort into educating law enforcement - most people are intimidated, but I assure you, if you make it clear to them that you have their best interest at hand, they will listen!
