What Wafa says is so true: Most Muslims do not know anything about Islam except to give it undivided and unquestioning respect. That was what I was told when I was in school. Don't question why you cannot eat pork; don't question why boys are not allowed to wear shorts; don't question why you cannot comprehend the Koran; don't question why it has to be in Arabic; etc,etc,etc.... We grew up without a critical foundation. The only thing that made sense in Islam was its common history with Judaism

True what Wafa says. Muslims do not apply "Wudhu" or ablution when reading translations. But, when reading the Arabic version of Al-Qur'an, You cannot let it touch the ground, you need to have ablutions and if you fart or think of bad thoughts you have to perform ablutions again! Hence, only the Arabian version is respected with great reverence. Hence, the true Koran is not the translation, but the Arabic version.

I remember in Islamic Education we were taught in Malaysia to hate non-Muslims. We called them "Kafir". We were warned not to be too close to non-Muslims. I rejected this message and I rejected the hatred Muslims have for non-Muslim food. Islam is intolerant of everything that is Kafir.
