  • To sum it up in their respective costumes; for instance, Batman wears a Kevlar suit and Iron Man wears a powered amour like in the Robert A. Heinlein classic Starship Troopers(the novel, not the movie).

  • BATMAN is the WORLDS GREATEST DETECTIVE. thats the difference. Ironman is not a detective.

  • Even the personalities of Bruce Wayne and Tony Stark are different. I really don't understand how people say Iron Man is a rip off of Batman. That is ridiculous.

Bruce Wayne has these serious morals to not kill people which supports his motivation for being Batman and he only lets the court deal with the criminals after he defeats them. Batman hates being a playboy. Iron Man likes being a playboy. Iron Man kills the criminals that he fights against sometimes. Iron Man is funny in dangeroustimes

  • What the fuck are people thinking?

Let me explain it to you Batman is a guy with no superpowers but has the ability to use martial arts and the gadgets on his suit and is even called the Worlds Greatest Dectective. Iron Man is a guy in a suit that is highly advanced which gives him the ability to fly, cool weapons , and protection from almost any form of attack. If I had to choose who's movie is better It would be Dark Knight than Iron Man. If I had to choose who I like better It'd be Iron Man.

  • @1290418

Batman has genre based super powers, though if you don't play pencil and paper RPGs it isn't as obvious. It does vary across representations, but there are a few:

Batman has super wealth, a "real" super power. He is required to be far too lucky (the classic "Why isn't he dead yet" dilemma". He tends to almost magically have the materials he needs on hand (referred to as gizmos in one RPG, GURPS), and he often has technology better than the norm.

  • Although, I would say Ironman is not a direct ripoff of Batman, you can not denying the similarities. Also, there similarities do not end at just being billionaires. They both have large companies. They both have no powers. They both build gadgets and weapons. They both have suits designed to fight crime. They both inherited wealth. They both supply tech and funds to there respective teams. They physically look the same ( Caucasian with black hair and blue eyes). And the list goes on.

  • @toekneebeeears There are like 2 milions of heroes without powers. Iron Man doesnt build gadgets and most of the heroes build their stuff themselves. Batman doesnt have a suit, he has costume. The reason why Iron Man has these things, is because he idea was to create a superhero, that in civil identits is archeotype of everything that normal people hate.

Look the same? 80 percent of heroess have blue eyes. And the list doesnt go on, thats it.

  • @Ikarosus The arch reactor and the armor in the suitcase are gadgets. Batman's suit has armor just like Ironman. Batman also had the idea to create a superhero. "80 percent of heroess have blue eyes." Yes. That's one thing they have in common. If Lee and Kirby wanted to be unique they could have given him green or brown eyes or gave him red, brown, or blond hair. But no, they gave him blue eyes and black hair just like Batman. There butlers look alike. They both are philanthropists. And more.

  • @toekneebeeears BAtmans suit is not armor. And Iron Man doesnt use gadgets.

Yes, it is so original to not to make chraqcter look how he looks, because some other charaqcter looks similar. And you do realise Tony HAS FUCKING BEARD! The reason why they didnt do it, is because they didnt think someone would really be that stupid to think its rip-off to have black hair.

All superhero milionares are philantropists. And no, there are not more. Thats it.

  • @Ikarosus Batman has kevlar armor. It's not metal but, it's still referred to as armor. What would you call the arch reactor if it's not a gadget ? Originally Tony did not have a beard. He had a pencil mustache. Which is not a huge difference. If all superhero millionaires are philanthropists then Ironman is not original. Read my first comment again. I never said that Ironman ripped off Batman. I said that there similarities are undeniable and Batman came before Ironman.

  • @toekneebeeears No he doesnt, And comparing kevlar to Iron Man armor is just idiotic.

He is original. By your logic, no superhero is original. We can always find something like that.

Yes, there are similarities, but you havent said any. You just made the the shit up.

  • @Ikarosus I'm not comparing kevlar armor to Ironman's armor. I'm just saying it is armor. Kevlar is called armor. It's not called a kevlar costume. Look it up. I did not say that all superheroes are unoriginal. For example, there are other superheroes who are not billionaires, do have superpowers , Don't wear armored suits. What did I make up ? Ironman and Batman both are billionaires, have armored suits, look alike, have butlers, are philanthropists, have no powers, have weapons, and more.

  • @toekneebeeears That's a genre trope. Zorro, The Shadow, Green Hornet, Green Arrow (although he was a Batman rip off when he was first created), Iron Fist, the list goes on and on.

  • @blowshimselfupdude True, it's a trope. But, I believe that Batman was first to do it in the comic book medium. The others were in radio programs or pulp books.

  • @toekneebeeears First in comics because he was the second super hero. But that doesn't mean anything. By that logic anyone with super strength in comics is a rip off of superman. Because if we ignore Doc Savage and any mythology or epic poems and focus just on comics then anyone with super strength in comics is a rip off. Oh ya. That makes perfect sense.

  • @blowshimselfupdude Go back to my first comment. I never said that Ironman is a rip-off of Batman. What I said was " Although, I would say Ironman is not a direct rip-off of Batman, you can not deny the similarities." When I see similarities to comic characters, it comes off as a little lazy. Super strength is the most overused superpower. It doesn't mean they ripped-off Superman. But, I would just like to see more originality in comics.

  • Many say (though I disagree) that Daredevil is rip from Batman. Both have had their fathers murdered by criminals, both fight preferably at night time, both of their arch-nemesis are psychopaths, both have their bodies trained to perfection, both use intimidation etc. I disagree with these claims but just something that people try to press.

  • dude you make me have little mini throw ups in my mouth.

  • i think DC was just called detective comics back then

  • 2:34 - 2:37 i like ur impression heh

  • iron man can fly but man can glide?

  • ironman is better than batman

  • saying iron man is a rip off of bats is like saying every hero who can fly is a rip of silver age superman

  • You are so right. I got into an argument with my friend about this and she said and I quote" DC comics makes a guy with no powers who becomes a hero with the help of gadgets. He's not the usual hero and he's a rule breaker. Marvel wants a guy with those same characteristics and therefore create Iron Man." She is a great friend, but that argument is just ignorant.

  • Comment removed

  • @maxythecuber God I hope your trolling and aren't really that stupid.

  • Comment removed

  • @maxythecuber actually batman was published in the 1940's and iron man was published in 1963 so yeah batman was first but ironman is not a rip off period!

  • @maxythecuber HA! WHAT THE HELL?

  • Comment removed

  • @maxythecuber Batman came out in 1939! Iron Man came out in 1963!

  • I never got the impression that Iron Man was a Batman ripoff simply because they're two different characters. They might have some similarities like coming from money, parents dead and being heroes but that's about it. This whole Ironman is a Batman ripoff sounds like it came from a Batfan because only a simpleton would think that Shellhead is a copy of Batman. The only Marvel hero on par with Batman is Daredevil and even then it's a silly argument.

  • You make good points. You also 'sound' exactly like I would think a comic-book nerd would sound like. Nebbish quality with a hint of never seen a naked woman except in porn. You give comic book nerds a bad 'name". Just messing with ya. You do make good points.

  • dude itmycuriosityy has I right to opinon

  • @kakuman1995 He has, but that doesn change the fact, that his opinion is wrong.

  • can you do explaining punisher

  • i saw a parody video comparing similarities in the movies which i thought was funny. but other than that i never heard anyone say iron man was a ripoff of batman. i guess anyone who says that didnt think too hard about it. not to start another fight but i would say spiderman would be a better argument

  • @mrevilcheese

oh and im not saying spiderman IS a ripoff of batman. just that you could make a better case that he is than with iron man

  • Simply Put: The only thing that is similar is that they're rich, don't have superpowers, and use technology.

My dad brought up that he thought Iron Man was a rip-off and we had an argument about it, and I can't believe people think that. That's just narrow thinking.

And you're not a superhero if your parents aren't dead. That's almost a universal. I'm sure there's an example I'm not thinking of but that's something that's used most of the time.

  • I prefer Batman. Sure, Iron Man has an awesome suit, but Tony Stark just comes off as a cocky, drunk, a-hole. Batman is deep and does what he does for a reason, not just because he loves the attention.

  • @kylesullivan96 Iron Man never did whole superhero thing for attention. In comics, he was hiding his identity. And even in the movies, it wast reason for becoming Iron Man. People are forgetting that his motivation was to save people from weapons made by his company. Revealing his identity and being media whore is like when Spidey used his Spider-Man identity to help him wih his job in the begining of Spider-Man 2, it wasnt reason why he became hero, just using his persona for personal goals.

  • get a life

  • @zordanlija Fuck you.

  • @marveldcuniverse101 except batman stopped killing because the wanted to make him a little more family friendly while iron man drank so they wanted to write a good story. saying one batman change is more important when those changes are completely unalike and even happen at different points in their superhero lives

  • originally yes batman was a ripoff of the shadow but a couple issues later he evolved into a character on his own...iron man still has the same character traits which is why people can say he's a ripoff even though he isn't...batman did evolve which makes the shadow an inspiration, yes, but not a comlete ripoff. just because the joker is inspired by the man who laughs doesnt mean he's a ripoff, obviously.

  • @marveldcuniverse101 But he's NOT inspired by Batman he's inspired by Howard Hughes. He wasn't inspired by The Man Who Laughs.

  • @blowshimselfupdude the joker WAS inspired by the man who laughs, that's a fact. and i never said iron man was inspired by batman i agree with u that he is NOT a ripoff im just saying the reason people can still say that even if they're wrong is a never really went through any major character changes. he evolved but not tlike batman as to where he had no problem killing people and then all of a sudden he refuses to kill that's HUGE unlike iron man who drank then was a raging alcoholic. not huge.

  • how could someone say iron man is ripped off batman?

    that's dumb

i agree iron man is very different character

  • Wayne's "playboyness" is a facade. He has three personalities; playboy, Batman, and the one in the middle. Real Bruce Wayne.

  • there nothing alike

  • There's really no comparison. They're both just billionare playboys who lost their parents at a young age, that's about it.

  • @shadowofbat in the movie story line, Ironman had his father until he was bout 20?

  • review arham assylum video game please

  • He invented weapons to take down every member of the Justice League. He invented everything he uses. That crap in the nolan movies about lucius fox is stupid because in the comics fox has no idea who batman is, he just helps bruce run the company. just like superman is over powered so is batman. He is a master of all martial arts, a brilliant chemist, inventor, detective, escape artist, espionage, disguise. I think the took some ideas from bats, but I don't think tony is a rip off.

  • Jesus you people are really dumbing down bruce wayne. read the freaking comics. Batman never trained with the league of shadows, in fact there is not league of shadows it's called the league of assassins led by the demon head ra's al ghul. He didn't even meet Ras until like his 3rd year of being batman cause ras kid napped robin trying to make bats become his successor. Bats has genius level intellect considered one of the smartest in DC he is a master of ALL forms of martial arts.

  • @superbat45 let me clarify by the martial arts thing in the movie they make it out that bruce is just a ninja. Bruce in the comics traveled all of the world and is a master of every form of martial arts on the planet, and then later on a master of some alien fighting styles. He is not just a master of ninjitsu.

  • I think if iron man was a ripoff hes better

  • You think wrong.

  • watev its just my opinion

  • I absolutly hate it when fanboys say one series ripped off their series, it really pisses me off. For example there is this guy in my friends group that only read Hellsing volume 1 and said that it sucks because they completely stole the Alucard concept from Castlevania. Yeah, he clearly has no idea what he is talking about.

  • The details don't matter, everything is different when you get down to details. It's the main idea that applies...

  • @TMMWrites Yes, but main idea with Iron Man was completely diffrent than with Batman.

  • Comment removed

  • Comment removed

  • I agree

  • Daredevil is also a detective that has inventions and his main weapon is his body, I'm not saying that daredevil is a batman ripoff

  • Comment removed

  • actually that's not true. he drew what Finger told him to.

Kane's desgin was a colorful birdman and the picture was a swipe of a Flash Gordon panel (Kane famous for swipe art)

  • im sorry i was a jerk by calling your mother a bitch. and saying ha i mean ha. im very very very sorry. you mite hate me. but im sorry. bye

  • why did you say it to begin with?

  • Well that documentary was wrong. Bill finger made pretty much everyting (the Batmobiel came in later and wasn't part of the opriginal concept). And Bob didn't draw most of it. He drew te frst couple issues then had other people draw it and just put his name on the art.

  • Bill Finger made the look and the mansion and the entire character. I don't knwo about the Batmobile. Bill Finger made Batman Bob Kane just stole him.

  • and i never say that vicki and pepper are the same you dumb mother fucker. now i know iron man and batman are smaler. not difrent. if you say to me not really. then you are a mother fucker. whats a mother fucker. let me show you emo kid. your mother is a bitch. HA i mean ah... HA.

  • Wow.............you have proven to me people can stoop to levels of stupidity I didn't even know existed. Just wow.

  • im not saying there alike dumbfuck. im just saying tony and bruce have lovers. they have no superpower they can bym there shit.. wayne inderprise. stark inderprise. there pearents are dead. i ever EVEREVEREVEREVER said they acting diffrent. they are play boy million near. they use thinalagey. to do solve things. maybe tony and bruce are a little diffrent.

  • ironman is a rip off of batman. why. look vicki vale pepper potts. batman love vale. and ironman love potts. they are rich play boys. a superhero. there pearents are dead. they invente things. they have a place so they can invente things. oh you cant you cant talk. you dumb mother fucker. think before you talk emo boy. HA i mean ah... HA.

  • Vicki and Peppe are nothign alike and Vicki hasn't been seen since the 50's or 60's and Bruce never loved her. Also if loving someone is a rip off then EVERYCHARACTER EVEVER is a rip off of other things. Peoples parents die. So? Tony's parents being dead don't really effect him. Bruce's parents death put him on his course and shappend his life forever. Tony is an INVENTOR as a proffesion. Bruce doesn't actually invent alot. Wayne Enterprises does.

Wow talk about a dumb mother fucker.

  • Thats not true in bats list of skills he has genius level intelligene on par with luthor and braniac. He invented everything that he uses. In the comics Lucius Fox has no idea who batman is, in fact lucius isn't even a scientist he basically just helps bruce run the company that is it. Now Bruce will sometimes hire scientists to work at Wayne enterprises and if they invent something he didn't think of, he will steal the equp from his company and tinker and improve the design for himself.

  • Iron Man a rip off of Batman this is the first time I heard that what a dumb idea who came up with that. What a moron, they are two totally different

  • You might need to rewatch Batman Begins, Bruce gets in a fight after going out there and he is put in a prison, released, and if they didn't need Bruce, why were they training him?? And what for? To fight... For them.... See the comparison? You really have to boil some details down sometimes.

  • Who could come to this conclusion? Sure they are both millionaires who use high tech gadgetry for super abilities. But Batman is a disciplined, noble, and an all around awesome, crimefighting detective manchild. Tony Stark is a pansy ass, silver spoonfed, spoiled republican latchkey kid douchebag who's somewhat likable because of his awesome suit. Btw, DC was originally "Detective Comics", of course there was also Action Comics and Entertaining Comics. Now it's collected under one initial.

  • I know DC named themselves after Detective Comics. But before they were DC they had a diffrent name. Like Marvel was Timley.

    Also Tony is very likable.

  • Green Arrow is the true rip off of Batman. Im talking about Smallville Oliver though. Iron man is as cool as Batman.

  • Comment removed

  • i think i'll pass on that one

  • Yeah, so do the others listed but Marvel today is what I mean. He most likely wasn't copied at first. But Marvel writers today are ussually kind of... bad, no offence to them or Marvel fans. So they stole ALL of these ideas. I know this thread on a site for Lego fans which was a 300 commented Marvel VS DC thread and DC won in the end. The points on there are great. If you want the link you can ask.

  • I wrote something like this but it was against your view.

1-Iron Man is dubbed as "the Knight."

2-Rich Playboys that own their own companies.

3-Both mentor a younger generation in the future (Batman Beyond and Next Avengers)

    4-They know gadgets well.

5-In Iron Man (movie), he was taken by terrorists (Batman Begins, League of Shadows) and when he came back he was a diffrent man.

6-Marvel does copy a lot of DC elements besides this.

  • 1. I've never heard of him reffered to as that.

    2. So is Green Arrow, Iron Fist, and Blue Beetle.

    3. Nether of those are cannon.

    4. So does Blue Beetle, Buster Gold, Spider Man, Green Arrow, Mr. Fantastic.

    5. Again that's just the movies. Not the comics.

    6. Yeah.

  • do the one were they say night owl is a rip off of batman or did you do that

  • How can he be a rip off Batman when he's a rip off of Blue Beetle?

  • im not saying he is a rip off but whts that song at the start

  • Rise by PiL

  • and they dont have powers lol

  • the only thing i can think of is they are both rich and they are both superheros

  • You know... i've got this mate that is just as stuborn as hell (knows nothing about the comics) and just won't admit that iron man is not a rip off of batman. it really pisses me off.

  • You know what?!

Superman is a rip-off of Captain Marvel, Icon, Gladiator, Hyperion, Sentry, Omni-man, Supreme, and Goku. :D

  • Actually Superman has many "convient" similaraties to Doc Savage. Who was teh Man of bronze AND had a fortress of solitude.

  • >.>

    REALLY?

  • Yeah. And Doc Savage came out years before Superman.

  • id prefer batman over iron man, but youre right on this, bro..nice!

  • Iron Man is better :p

  • Not really.

  • I like Iron Man more

  • 1) that's just because he's conservative. 2) That's fine you like him more. That doesn't make him better.

I like Batman better but you'll notice I didn't say ether way in this video. This video isn't about that.

  • That's my opinion. You think I'm a fascist don't you? I'm gonna say this once: I DON'T HATE LIBERALS. MY ATHEIST REPUBLICAN FRIEND DOES. I like Iron Man's personality, alter ego, his suit, and everything about him more then Batman. Him being Conservative is just a bonus, OK?

  • I didn't say that. You just seem to only like things you can say have your unbelivably strick conservative morals in. And when you find out those characters don't have those personalities you stop liking them. Or blame the writers.

  • Not really. I like Batman and Green Arrow. I understand they have flaws, but blaming the writer is alright considering they're the ones who do it to them. I can't blame them for trying to make them relatable. My dad hates the comics writers of today because they aren't Silver Age material. I guess he rubs off on me

  • You haven't READ Green Arrow how can you say you like him. Because I can GARENTEE! If you DID read him you wouldn't like him. This is a man who LEGALIZED gay marrige when he became mayor of the city.

Then your Dad is both ignorant and baised. And falls into the "it's not as good as when I was a kid mentatliy" that older people use that pisses me right the fuck off. JUST BECAUSE YOU HAD A CHILDHOOD DOESN'T MEAN IT HAS TO STAY THROUGH YOUR ADULTHOOD! Comics have matured. Get over it.

  • He hates that Batman and Captain America were killed, what's wrong with that? Good God you get so defensive and calling my dad IGNORANT? Don't you think I'll take that offensively

  • Well he's opinion on teh mater is invalid since he DOESN'T READ THE COMICS he doesn't know wether it's godo or not. Again he's clinging to his CHILDHOOD. It woudl be like me getting pissed because they killed Charlie on Lost becaus eI only watched teh first half of season 1 and I liked Charlie alot and then he dies in season 3. And me getting pissed becaus ehe's dead. I don't know how or why it happened. It's ignorant and is an invalid opinion on the subject. also batman isn't dead.

  • Funny he watched lost.

Also, a couple of super heroes personalities were established in the silver age of comics. And liking Superman as that being that is just plain awesome and amazing is OK, all people who don';t read comics think of the real Superman as Silver Age Superman. The one who is perfect. And don't say "WHO" because I really don't know of anyone who doesn't think that way. There was nothing wrong with the Silver Age. It was just different then the Modern Age

  • See your proving my point. People who DONT read comics think that way. People who DONT read comics don't liek Cap dieing. There opinion doesn't count. That's like saying you don't likeStar Trek but never actually watched it.

There are alot of things wrong with the silver age. The fact that they were mindless and had no intelegence and that they present the world in a very imatrue balck and white view point.

  • A lot of people like comic book heroes and don't read the comics. Not everyone is a big comics book nerd like you or me.

  • Well there opinions on what happens in the comics is invalid. Also I'd argue that they don't actually like the characters if they don't actually read them.

  • is your atheist friend by any chance supergodzilla22?

  • no way, batman is better, in my opinion. Iron Man comes right after Batman in my top 10 favorite super heroes of all time list. Bats is just an incy pit better to me. the darkness of batman just won me over. but i love iron man, too.

  • I like Iron Man more that's all... He's lighter

  • yeah, he is lighter.

  • Yeah because someone who's an alchoholic and makes weapons for WAR is very light.

  • Yup. And a guy who claims to be darkness and started the whole darker hero image is much lighter then Iron Man

  • Actually The Shadow started teh whole "dark" hero thing. And guess what HE existed BEFORE Superman. So yeah. Dark heroes aren't knew. They've been there all along.

  • He's not a super hero.

  • Comment removed

  • >.>

DC was originally called detective comics, I think.

  • No they had a diffrent name. And then when they renamed they named themselves DC after there highest selling book. Detective Comics.

  • <.<

    I stand Corrected.

  • BULLCRAP! Your probably sitting.

  • >.>

    Ok, I sitted corrected. :D

    Doesn't sound right.

  • Weren't they called Action Comics?

  • No they were calling the national publications.

  • i steel hate iron man sorry man personaly i like batman better nomater what eny geek says

  • I like batman lightyears more then I like Iron man. But I still belive in sticking up for the wrongly acused.

  • DareDevil is more like Batman then Iron Man when it comes to personality

  • Eh I'd tend to dissagree.

  • I know you disagree with everything I say, kidding, but DareDevil I guess is lighter then Batman

  • I don't think I'd say he's lighter. He's just very diffrent. His motivations and methods are diffrent. His situation is diffrent. He's just diffrent.

  • I think he's a little lighter, Batman is one of the darkest heroes... Would you say he's darker or lighter then Punisher? I'd say lighter

  • I think Daredevil more then any other hero is grey. His life is very very complex. More so then most other heroes. If I had to say light or dark I would say dark. I wouldn't say HE is darker thent eh punisher. But I would say his stories are because they are more mature and complex tehn just killing bad people.

  • the only camparison is that both Tony and Bruce are rich playboys.

  • And the butlers.

  • oh, yeah

  • Ironman has a butler a lot like Alfred. Where did you hear that Bob Kane stole the idea of Batman? If your source is right, then it should be all over the news worldwide.

  • YEah I'll give that one.

Have you not seen my video on Bob Kane? Or more importantly read the article in the side bar for that vid.

  • Zorro.

  • Scinec when did stared saying Iron Man is off of Batman but they ever smiler in a lot of ways.

  • I think Batman and Spiderman are more alike. Both their parents are dead, they have a no-killing rule and they both believe in justice. The only difference is that they handle it in completely different ways. Spiderman talks a lot, Batman doesn't. Spiderman has powers, Batman doesn't. They both have lots of villains and both have had a lot of people they know died.

  • I think people just read too much into things.

  • I totally agree with you on this. Didnt Moon knight become a millionare to escape his mercenary past and also became a cab driver to get more in touch with humans.

  • Yeah. Moon Knight has a number of personalities.

  • gewd points

  • Iron FIst too

  • Yes I forgot him.

  • I have a question. if stark industries makes weapons, what does wayne corp. do, I never knew?

  • Wayne makes lots of diffrent things.

  • Why in the world would anyone think that Iron Man is a rip off of Batman. The two characters are nothing alike. I am like Batman much more than Iron Man and that I can see that this claim is utter bullshit. At most Iron Man is Marvels answer to Batman but in no why a rip off

  • Anyone who thinks Iron Man is a rip-off of Batman is dumb. All they have similar is that they're billionaires who are super heroes. Batman is tragic, Iron Man isn't besides being an ex-alcoholic.

  • Iron Man is cooler. But they're both awesome.

  • I get so upset when people say they are rip offs of each other. Daredevil and Spider-man are an example if you look at it in a way. They are the same in ways, (Ironman and batman) but there are so much unlike each other in more ways then they are the same.

  • I like how Frank Miller described Daredevil. He's the pour man's Spider-man.

  • green arrow was DEFINITELY a ripoff of batman at first. but bruce is still a playboy, oliver is married to dinah.

  • Arrowcar, Arrowcave, Arrow themed gadgets, Arrowplane (ok I rather like that one), I dont' see it at all.
