@MrRookie26 The Stanley Cup was originally a Challenge Cup that could be won by any amateur or professional hockey team if they challenged the current holder and won. It was first won in 1893 by the Montreal Hockey Club (not the Montreal Canadiens, they didn't come until 1909, and won their first Cup in 1916). The Stanley Cup was actually won several times a year for many years during the "Challenge Cup Era". This was from 1893 to 1914. In 1927 the Stanley Cup became the official NHL trophy.
their info is stupid because the winnipeg victorias didn't play in 1996 and goalie pads were invented way before that lol. Stupid efin tv show they suck lol
when they say that the stiching is purely decorative it depends on the type of pad. For instance the Reebok 6k pad is decorative stitching withprinted on graphics. However, the Premier series II pad has separate pieces of leather stitched together. A much better piece of equipment but also more expensive.
Stitching is only decorative. It serves absolutely no purpose other than to give the pad a look. If you removed the stitching on a Premier II and went with a solid piece of jenpro it would perform exactly the same.
ok the video beginning doesnt make any sense...she says in 1996 the guy used the pads in the stanley cup playoffs which isnt true cuz they had them before and then she says he was using cricket pads and that ice hockey pads werent made til the 1920's....dumb hoe
i definitely heard "1896" too. but that sentence is kind of badly written. like, "..he and those who followed him used cricket pads. wider pads, specifically for ice hockey, didn't come about until the 1920s." the period before 'wider pads' is very important and she probably should have paused longer.....

It's hard to believe that goalie pads used to be made of leather, stuffed with cotton and horse hair. It took a long time to break them in too.
