  • EXCELENTE COMBINACION BUENA PELICULA Y BUENA CANCION

  • Thanks for this, two of my favourite things ever, goin well together.....

  • The Blue Nile seems to bring Deckard and Rachael even closer together. This is just wonderfull stuff. Thanks a Mill.

  • Look up Anna Domino and a song called Caught on You Tube - another very interesting take on Bladerunner and music, and a great song too.

  • I love the band and the film good job man *****

  • Mix one of my favorite movies with one of my favorite albums and you get....this video. Great job! Very inspired...

  • Mate i thought i was the only one that had this connection although in another way!!! Put the tracks FROM A LATE NIGHT TRAIN and BLADE RUNNER BLUES together and they fit almost perfectly!!!

  • true, the full length version is the one....such a gorgeous song :)

  • Fabulous, two of my favourite things in the whole world, Bladerunner and The Blue Nile.

  • I'm speechless... wonderful!!!!

  • that was great, a song i love so much and a movie which is so much a part of my life

  • bellissimo binomio,ma vangelis è stratosferico!

  • maravillosa cancion,maravillosa y estupenda pelicula.

  • Too true,I reckon great movies ALWAYS have exceptional soundtracks. Maybe Michael Mann should procure the expertise of Paul Buchanan for future movies. I really liked the ambient music in Heat & Collateral. Hans Zimmer really excelled in The Thin Red Line. In these times of compassion fatigue and social hardness it is good to get sensitive again. As Springsteen writes "its just winners and losers and don't get caught on the wrong side of that line." Bravo for YT posts showing elegance & beauty.

  • Michael Mann is a big fan of Mogwai and used their music in Miami Vice. Their music is very cinematic.

  • This is the only long version of this beautiful, hypnotic ,and mesmerizing song.

The other versions cut out the guitar playing and the final chorus at the end of this song, which I.M.O.,is the orgasm to this wonderful love making of music and video !

  • Well put. Orgasmic indeed :)

  • what a great combination

  • How How How could you not fall in love with this piece of music? It's beautiful Great music/film mix Nice 1

  • mmmm for me is not to be inlove, it's about being alone . . . it's a melancholic song . . . it's about crying on the stairs . . . alone ;D

  • One of my favorite movies and one of my favorite songs from one of my favorite bands but 50% of why I love this movie is the sound track; thankyou Vangelis.

  • love it

  • Excellent marriage of a great song with a classic movie.

  • One of my fav all time tunes & film very very uncanny

    Great work

  • Thank you and everyone else recently who's comment similarly. I take no credit for the visuals or the music, but it's nice to know I'm not the only one who thinks they go well together.

  • My favourite band and my favourite film. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

  • me too...

    me too....

    thank u thank u

  • Hats....The Blue Nile...I remember hearing this group on a college radio station in Atlanta when I was younger. I instantly fell in love with Paul Buchanan's vocals..

  • " Ardientes, los Ángeles se irguieron, y un trueno profundo rodó por sus costas; e iban abrasados por los fuegos de ORc. " ( William Blake, 1793 ). RL.

  • Muy bien Rodriguez, de puta madre (!) Roverlang

  • Mr. Rodriguez,

Your editing is nothing short of Hollywood - indeed it exceeds Oscar Quality Editing. The Choreography is perfect and you're right, that radio edit is so second rate. I'm glad you worked the long version. Never take it off Youtube.

    Bright Blessings in Christ,

    Tim

  • it's too bad she won't live...but then again,who does?

  • Have to agree. AWESOME job i love both Blue Nile and Bladerunner

  • Terrific, what a blend of my favourite movie and album. I was thinking prehaps heatwave from A Walk Across the Rooftops might also work. maybe?

  • wow brilliant concept. One of those things when u see them together u think "of course"...good work and has me thinking of other ones that could be done

  • Pretty good stuff, fascinating movie, and one incredibly underrated band too!

  • wow

  • you did a great job i dont want to fill you wit bullshit just class

  • nickmoron1 oops was thay a typo (youve heard that before) anyway why slag this off.Its not doing any harm and its better than the 20 second crap that some people on yt think is entertainment.Saw your video btw, jury out on that one, music is good though.

  • PS: for those of you who haven't read Phillip K. Dick's Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep, pls do! (Blade Runner's based on this great SciFi novel). Go for it! And listen to Hats as you do!

  • Read the book and listen to Gary Numans Replicas album and it all makes real sense!

  • Just saw your comment, I was listening to Hats while reading that Phillip K Dick book. Hats is a very underrated album

  • Prod . . . this is one of the best clips I've seen in the past 10yrs! Wonderful images matched to some of the most stunning music of the past 40yrs! Thank you so much for sharing this with us all . . .

  • wow thanks for the analogy, both of these pieces are darkly poetic and romantic .. takes me back

  • Wow. That was great. *favoritted*

  • Superb, hats off to you my friend, i love seeing images and music put together well, it puts a different slant on things you love. YOU HAVE DONE A MANS JOB.......

  • Ahhh, thank you! Saw The Final Cut last night and the Vangelis music is obviously just lovely, but I couldn't stop thinking about The Blue Nile. Whatever... awesome, awesome flick.

  • Did you notice the differences in the final cut? subtle but brilliant!, how did you edit this? timing was excellent!

  • Did you like the final cut? subtle differences, you could have a field day with the new vangelis bladerunner cd!, 2nd cd is unreleased tracks from the movie and cd3 is a brand new album from vangelis himself composing music inspired from Blade Runner!!

  • Final Cut - awesome, but all versions are awesome soooo.... Differences are a bit 'so what' but it's just great seeing it on the big screen again.

I don't think I'd be that bothered about the whole new Vangelis Cd. Might try though.

As for this - pretty low tech. Used Fraps to rip from CD (great tool) and MemoriesOnWeb to pull it together. MOW is great, low tech but great.

  • Great video! I'm a big fan of the film and of vangelis' music however, after watching this vid i'm begging to wonder if a couple of the scenes may have evoked more emotion if they had included softer and less electronic based music.

  • Bladerunner (in all its versions) is one of favourite films. The Blue Nile is my favourite band.

This video is a beautifully put together but The Blue Nile and Bladerunner don't mix well. The Downtown Lights is the wrong choice of track and does not match the bleakness of the film

  • Thanks a lot for the comment and the compliment.

I'm surprised you don't agree that Downtown Lights offers a similar bleak vision; 'sometimes I walk away, when all I really wanna do', 'how do I know you'll feel it?', 'rented rooms & rented cars'.

But for me, even more important is that both offer a degree of hope, a possibility of redemption; Deckard's final scenes with Rachel, 'the golden lights, the loving prayers'.

Still, at least we agree that both the film & band are awesome!

  • I'm probably biased because I think the Vangelis music fits the film so well and it would be difficult to beat.

I did think when I wrote the original post that 'From a Midnight Train' would be a better choice,as it is bleaker than the Downtown Lights and seems to fit the mood of the film.

By the way I just looked at your Edward Hopper-v-Blue Nile and it is brilliant. Hoppers Work amd the Blue Nile compliment each other perfectly.

  • This is brilliant! I will now always recall the images from BR when I hear this song.

  • my favourite album my favourite movie sheer class..... thank you

  • Another proof that 80's were Olympus of it all...

  • the best film ever i must have seen it 300 times and the band is class a friend told me about them just class

  • the blue nile are an amazing group so stylish and suave only brian ferry holds a candle to them

  • "You've done a man's job, sir!" Excellent! Nice choice of track! Keep it up! :-D

  • Well Done!

  • Great movie, great song and great job on the video.
