This point is not debateable, as it is in SUPPORTERS' own research:
under the "Fair" Tax aka National Sales Tax-Inclusive aka NASTI, those making from about $15k to $150k a year would pay MOREin federal taxes than they do now, and those making over $150k would pay less than they do now. Do we really want to RAISE THE TAXES of the middle classes so we can LOWER the already very low taxes of the wealthy? This tax is NASTI, and a very bad idea.
The FairTax will raise the standard of living for all current tax payers. The amount we each pay will DROP because MORE people will be paying the total revenue neutral amount, including illegals and criminals. Also, prices will likely drop because companies will no longer need to pay tax experts and lawyers. This "compliance cost" right now amounts to $900 per person on average. Granted, SOME? people will benefit more than others, but there will be no losers with the FairTax.
Yes -- our present tax code is wacko. It needs to be changed fundaentally. But this Fairtax is a FARCE. Its not kinds off -- its pure bullshit, and the leaders know it.
I read HR 25 and the book, they are NONSENSE. You can't really get income by taxing the federal government -- yet they depend on almost a trillion in year coming FROM the government, and counting that farce as income. Its total nonsense. You are being fooled.
Everyone who gets health care is going to be pissed as hell. Nursing home patients -- pissed as hell. Cancer patients - pissed as hell. Do you think insurance will cover the 460 billion in sales taxes from that? Are you mental? People who have great insurance - -will ship a brick -- their deductable might be 100 dollars, but their sales tax could be 50,000. Try to imagine getting sales tax on cancer surgery, etc. You folks have NO flipping idea what this would do.
Questions FT folks can't answer -- How will rent go down 22% when you tax it 23%? Apartment complexes "embedded" taxes are about 1/2 of 1%. No where near 22%.
What will nursing home patients, and cancer patients, do when they get "sales" tax bills of 25,000 to 50,000?
Why does rent bother you. First of all, any tax you pay on rent is returned, up to the amount of the poverty level, with the prebate. But, most important, rent is negotiable. If you think the rent is too high, don't live there. Actually, I'm not even sure that rent is even taxable since it is neither a product nor a service.
As far as the nursing home and cancer patients: They will pass it on to their insurance company. By the way, there is a ton of embedded tax in medicine.
Instead of nit-picking the small, insignificant points you keep bringing up, why don't you look at the benefits the FT will bring. How about the estimated $900 the average taxpayer will save by not having to file anything each year? How about the jobs that will be created when foreign countries start moving their manufacturing plants here to avoid foreign tax burdens? What about the potential gains from investments in the stock market that won't be taxed?
Insignificant my asp. You arent getting this are you pal? How insignificant is 50,000 sales tax on a cancer patient's surgery and chemo? How the hell insignificant is a 4 billion dollar "sales" tax on a US Navy aircraft carrier? The sales tax on the health industry will have to total 460 billion dollars. What the hell are you talking about -- insignificant? Gesus get a clue. This tax is a farce, and if passed, would be rescinded in a month, its dumb as dog doo.
Embedded tax? Sure there are some. But its not by magic 22%, and its not by magic going to result in near that lower prices. You folks are mental math midgets. FORD for example PAYS no corp taxes, so they cant lower their prices by 22%. Talk to the CFO at Ford, or GM, and get back to me.
I want those that bought this fairtax idea to remember you were for it. You dont understand House Bill 25, I dont care if you mean well. You havent got a clue. The gov cant pay itself a 30-40% sales tax on its purchases (tanks, jets, ammunition, for example) without raising taxes to pay it. This is the most idiotic stupid idea, it should be laughed at. Actually I hope we get it passed, just so you folks can see what happens.
If this passes, you will see economic growth in this country like you've never seen. You would have countries all over the world wanting to set up shop in this country, creating more jobs that could possibly be filled.
Jmac, I hope this passes far more than you!! If it passes, you will see a lot of REAL pissed renters, who had NO clue their rent would go up 23%. Lot of pissed people with parents in nursing home, taxed 14-20K a year! Lot of pissed off people you told it would be virtually free. Only, its horrible on people who have to spend money.
YEs compliace cost are wacky high -- this tax code is stupid. It was largely written by lobbyist for rich and powerful. We need to change it -- and we can. I could write a tax code for individuals in two pages. I would tax all income alike -- work, inheritance, cap gains, profit on self employed, whatever. Just call it income, and have a basic flat tax system. Your idiot high national sales tax plan is stupid.
Why dont you show me any nation that put a 40% sales tax on medical cost? You act like an expert -- you are a moron. You know crap about taxes, crap about logic, crap about how other countries tax. Show me any country that taxes new houses 40%. Show me any country that taxes cars 40% -- actually you can, Singapore. They do it make car ownership very hard. And now you morons want high taxes on all sales. You are completely stupid about taxes, economic consequences, and logic.
Here is why the 23percent sales tax would be 50% or higher. Even 23 would be a disaster -- but 50% would be a disaster quick. It cant be 23 percent -- cause that figure was to replace INCOME tax only. Now suddenly it has to replace income AND FICA and cap gains, AND inheritance tax. But the morons didnt adjust the 23 for that. And here is a clue -- the 23percent was laughablly low. But it would be twice that, or more.
Yes there would be real savings if we simplified taxes. Of course. But thats like saying we need better health -- so lets blow our brains out. YOur idiot remedy of a high national sales tax doesnt even slow down at stupid. It goes right to insane. We need to fix the tax code -- yes. But Fair Tax would have consequence you nit wits are ignorant of.
Here are the consequences -- a 50% sales tax on all consumption -- new house sales, even medical cost, cars, everything. They admit to 23 -- but thats a joke. A 50% sales tax on new houses would destroy the economy. Plus, these idiots have the military and all government paying those same high taxes. How the hell can they - to pay them, they would have to raise what they need. That means more cost to fund govt. Its beyond stupid.
Huh.. I don't remember seeing this question posed in that so-called debate. Maybe it's just a bit too difficult for any of those Democrat losers to consider. Hillary shouldn't have to answer tough questions like that on. Nice job though!
Here is a question for you pucker head. Show me any country in history that had a 40-50 percent sale tax on new houses, on cars, on medical cost. Show me one you idiot - its the dumbest idea I have ever heard. So tell me -- what other country has EVER tried it?
Typical liberal ad hominem attack. A clear display of your own ignorance of how this system would work. What country had ever tried a representative republic before ours, you pucker head? If it were up to you, we'd be bowing to the queen of England.
Hey moron -- give me the name of a country that taxed new houses 40%. IM waiting for a name. What country taxed its own military 40% on its purchases of tanks, weapons, ammunition?? Give me the name of any place in history that has done this. WHat a completelyl idiotic plan.
Again, educate yourself on how this plan works before you go shooting your mouth. It's an increase in sales tax, not 40 to 50%, but more like 23 to 25%, but uliminating the income tax, corporate taxes, the death tax and the IRS altogether. You still didn't even address my original comment about this clip anyway idiot. You attack me, whatever, but that still doesn't change the fact that these Democrat nimrods don't have to answer tough questions during this process.
Oh my - you forgot to give me the name of anyone on earth -- ever -- that had a big sales tax on new homes, or on medical cost.
And listen you math midget -- the 23 percent was just to replace INCOME tax when this started -- and that was a strecth. But somehow, but delusional magic -now it replaces income AND social security AND death tax AND corp taxes AND cap gains taxes. SOmeone should tell you folks - your emperor is a naked jerk.
You still cant name a country that puts a high sales tax on new houses you moron, nor can you name one that taxes medical cost. What an idiot. And you cant find anyone that taxes the government spending -- but the FT plan would. It actually has gov pay the same sales tax everyone else pays. Thats insane you moron -- the gov would just have to raise its cost to pay its taxes. This isnt just a stupid idea -- it doesnt slow down at stupid. It goes right to insane.
Refer to my initial response. There hasn't been a country to do it yet, but that doesn't mean it's a bad idea. How many countries had a representative republic before ours?? Does that mean it was a bad idea?
a 40% sales tax on new houses is a good idea? are you mental??? What on earth do you thing a 40% sales tax on a HOUSE would to to sales, you blabbering idiot. ITs not just a bad idea, its a pathetic insane idea. The fact that you defend it shows you are a mindless follower, totally incapable of rational thought.
Strange how you cant answer one simple question. And you are an idiot. I can make a better case for FT than you. Its still nonsense. THis is a question of math and logic. Get clue.
How many countries today are ruled by a dictator compared to those who are ruled by a legislative body or the people? Several. Does that mean it's a good idea just because more countries have adopted that? If so, you should be purchasing your one-way ticket to North Korea this afternoon so that you can start your starving to death.
You just don't have a full understanding of how the fair tax works. Either that or you do and you like the IRS. Liberal idiot.
Pt II: By eliminating the current tax system (which would be required if the FairTax was passed) those embedded taxes would also be eliminated. So, whatever you paid $1.00 for today would cost $.78 plus the 23% INCLUSIVE FairTax, bringing the price back to around where it is today.
Well you overestimate this embeded nonsense. I could make a better case for FairTax than you -- and I know its crap. The real benefit to a Fairtax is the FICA taxes that business wouldnt have to pay. That would be great. And the extra money in workers pocket. THat would be great. So you miss the best parts of the FT, thats how clueless you are. Plus, of course, no IRS, or forms. But I also know how stupid it is, the pitfalls.
Pt. III: This is one of the most studied tax reform plans ever commissioned. Over $20 million has been spent on it. The conclusion was that it was fair and revenue neutral, and includes Social Security and Medicare taxes.
You say FT is most studied? Are you out of your mind? There must BE reports on this "most studied" plan -- right? WHere the hell are they? Show me just ONE fuching report that discusses how a 40% (23 even) sales tax on government spending, will affect military cost, you idiot. Show me one study that shows what a high sales tax would do to new home sales? Or the cost of nursing homes.
Pt IV: Sorry JMac46142, I thought I was responding to MarkDouglasC's comments. My bad! I clicked on the wrong Reply link. You seem to understand it. He obviously doesn't.
Yes... there really isn't any point in responding to him. Nice job on the question even though liberals shouldn't have to be subjected to such tough questions like yours. We wouldn't want a future president to be tested or anything.
JMac46142, I know you mean well, but you're wasting your time with MarkDouglasC. It's not that he doesn't understand. We've tore his arguments apart countless times, but that's not why he's here. Denim - you know very well you havent even tried to explain the problems with FT. YOu havent explained how nursing home patients will pay 14-20K a year in sales tax on their care. Will they get exemptions? Will you just pay it with medicaid? How the hello will the patients get more on their paycheck to cover 14-20K? They dont have taxes with held, nimmy. Go ahead, answer sometime.
I am hard pressed to claim opponents of this legislation are necessarily liberals, or "dems", or what have you. This is something that should have bipartisan support!
The poor don't have to pay taxes when purchasing basic needs and Americans don't waste a portion of their hard labor for the government!
AMERICANS pay big sales taxes on new homes! There is an embedded tax of around 22% added into every one you buy. Also, all of your medical expenses have a built -in, embedded ta of approximately 22%, but since you don't seem to understand how the FairTax works I wouldn't expect you to understand this.
Nonsense moron. This embeded tax would still be there - cause those people that worked on the house would still have taxes to pay. Plus, you moron, if you have a 40% sales tax on a new house -- I dont care what else happens -- people will just look for "used" houses instead. Learn some economics, you are delusional. Your emperor is a naked moron.
You don't understand how this works. Embedded taxes would be removed COMPLETELY, from EVERYTHING, which would bring the overall price of everything down. Then, once the sales tax was added, it would bring it back up to what you're normally paying for it. You really need to study this more.
JMAC -- just repeating a thing, without answering the point objected to -- is stupid. There are 10-12 really major things wrong with FT. I studied this more, I know the plan, thats why I know its nonsense. NOw, go ahead, just try to respond to the one point I made on 30-40% sales tax on new homes, and what it would do to housing market.
Yeah... there's really no point in responding. We're obviously not on the same page. Have a great life not ever trying anything new because it's never been tried before Mark.
