  • hey i was wondering if anyone can help me out. my subs spider glue came apart. theres no tears. i dont think the subs blown cuz the coils are still copper. does anybody know if i can just glue it back? if so what glue do i use?

  • @joesta19 goto the website FixMySpeaker and look for CA glue, or if you know any places local that sell it that works to.

CS glue, google it :) read up on howto repair a woofer my man

  • @TylerTron21 thanks a lot

  • subs could take more then a few months of pumpin to work them in.....especially when it has enormous excursion...i have a sub only with 2 inch excursion, took me a year and so just to work the sub in, and also the bigger and more watts the sub is, the longer it takes to work it in, n if u have the patience all side of the situation are key(tuning, box, sub, amp, and how much power u got) good luck next time, sucks to see that

  • What's up man! It's Buck. Ya I've heard about problems similar to that not just with the 13av.2 but with all their subs. Their amps kick ass! I wish their subs did too.

  • @jotaybuck92 Hey Buck from TN with the FI Q? Yea these subs kick ass to but they just have this annoying issue ! Check out my new system / videos =]

  • @TylerTron21 Ya. No more Fi Q. Got a new vehicle. Gonna do 4 10"s or 12"s next.

  • Elemental Designs look like really cheap, to do that only after a few months shows how shitty they are and breaking them in? haha i never have on any of my rockford subs and they work perfect to the day after 4 years of abusing them they work and look fine

  • Our 110v.2 spiders did the same thing as well, so far, only the Eu-700's and 9Kv.2's have held up perfectly, our 7kv.2's (though better sounding than the Eu's) have had linearity issues under excursion levels declared as Xmax. The Eu's were virtually indestructible.

  • Yep Yep, I received one with a torn spider, called them up, they told me I over-excursioned the driver and it hadn't seen power by me yet so it was done by their testing. They sent me another one, top spider tore in 1 mont the bottom gave out @ 2 months. Same with a 3rd driver, the spiders are absolute junk, wonderful motor though. Team PSi 13Av.2's are insane though, just as this concept should have turned out to be.

  • Sorry for getting on your case man. I thought you were trying to use them for SPL use. good luck with the new company.

  • jl subs never need to be broken in. jl recommends you play them exactly how you will play them later on. thats why i love jl. i know they are not spl either but they sure sound damn good.

  • Dude ED Is a great company! your trying to make a reference sub play like an SQL sub. I've owned lots of E.D. product and never had an issue. Don't bash on them for warranty. that would be like trying to run Jensen XS 12's on 3000 watts and saying there warraty is shit because YOU blew them up. Use them for what they are built for and then make a comment. they are NOT SPL subs!!!!

  • they are for Reproduceing Bass response. It looks like you are trying to be the next Steve meade! not what their for!

  • i have ran them at their rated RMS power, and with a box built to their needs with the amp they recommended at settings they said to use.

soooooooo the sub has some serious spider/glue issues , anyone that knows anything about these subs will tell you the same.

  • So how did it break like that

  • i didnt let the sub break in fully before i started playing it loud. and when i did, i payed notes to low, to loud. and my box wasnt quite good enough for the sub's tuning. etc. my fault.

  • I see, well would you recommend these subs still even after this?

  • Yeah a Break in would prob have helped, I am looking at gettin myself 2 of em lets hope nothing happens to em lol

  • @TylerTron21 so how long are you meant to wait before playing however you want, after breaking them in?

  • me, personally.... i play 24-30z notes in free air low power for about a hour - two drive, seems to break the spiders in fast.

  • @TylerTron21 yeah well we can see how well that worked out for you

  • @dlzonwlz ?

  • @TylerTron21 just givin ya shit about you're method of breaking them in. thinking about getting one of these, how would you rate them in the following catagories? (try to be unbiased)-

    SQ: ?/10

    SPL: ?/10

    durability: ?/10

    frequency range: ?Hz - ?Hz

  • @dlzonwlz

SQ 9.5/10 (for a big woofer)

    SPL 7/10 Gets loud enough

Dura 5.5/10 Spiders arent the best for rated RMS (1500)

FreQ anything from a solid 34hz-44hz is amazing, other areas still being good.

  • hahahaha very nice :D

  • are the woofer rebuild

  • not yet, but soon

  • dude how did u do that these subs are tanks! thats what happens when u put too much low bass through it haha. even though it was made for it

  • Yea i put way to much low bass at 1500 watts and it murdered this sub. My box MIGHT be a little to big also. Im getting the subs and box rebuilt tho.

  • 1 layer of a spider my dd has 4

  • Yea DD are very nice. Im selling these subs and prolly going to AA havocs. These subs have 2 layers of spider.

  • Damn dude. And those aren't cheap subs either. Look at the size of the motor on that bad boy. :D

  • that sucks I thought elemental designs were good subs have you talked to them about what has happened to them?

  • Yea i have, Its gonna be 175 each to redo these from ED themselves. Another company is gonna rebuild them for me with QUALITY parts that will make this sub better for only 110 a piece :)

  • did you over excursion them? or what cause thats not good.. ive seen the SAME EXACT thing on some other sub i forgot what brand but same exact tears and i think people were sayin cause he was over excursion(ing) them

  • I did, but not by much at all... The sub is on a amp made to run on these subs and the amp is tuned mild / for daily driver use. The Sub just uses cheap soft parts .

  • yeah i know that they buy there baskets and shit and i think they wind there own coils and shit i believe,,

  • What other company is that, and what are they going to do to make them better? How are the parts better quality?

  • what place is that???

  • Or you could just get a new one, they have a 5 year warranty.

  • ED's warranty is hot garbage, it only covers strick "manufacture defects" which none of my problems are from they say.....

    horrible company
