@dougno65 no, the 'roots' of metal are in rock, not classical, metal incorporates ideas from classical, in a standard generic sort of way, but that's it. it's not connected to the genre in any meaningful way. it's just something that metalheads like to say to talk their genre up like it's high art. Metal is a derivative of rock, and that's that.
