This movie is so hard to watch. Shows the best to the worst feelings you can ever have from being in love. It's really sad & gut-wrenching. I don't ever want to see this again. lol
I've heard nothing but bad reviews for this film but after seeing it I think it's actually quite good. Not a masterpiece, more of a guilty pleasure, but definitely a time capsule. Martin Hewitt is great, too bad his career never really took off. Brooke Shields is good also. The movie has a hopeful ending but in the novel, Jade is unable to deal with David's obsessive love & his role in her dad's death. She manages to move on, but David is unable to. The last lines in the novel indicate that.
This song really made this movie. If this song was not in the movie i think it wouldnt have had the impact it did. cant no one sing this but Diana Ross and Lionale Ritchie.
so in the end they get back together? but the guy seems like his back in some mental facilities? :( i feel really sad for them!! god they've through tough times it breaks my heart T_T ove this movie!

He became more confused and unstable because of what he has to go through from the mental facilities and finding disclosure to make peace and yet he was sent back to the institution because of the fight.
i don't understand why that scene with David at the institution or whatever that place is he ends up at the end, when he is speaking in voice over is edited out..
I saw a different ending. after the police arrest him, David goes back to the nutt house. they show him looking out the window through the bars on it talking out loud about his love for Jade. He says his heart has wings and will fly to Jade. He extends his hands out then the camera pans to the street and Jade is walking towards the hospital to see him. thats a better ending than this one. Just saying.

At 3:42 - Ahhhh to be young and naive again. It is so different watching this movie as an adult. I was a teen in the 80s when I first saw this movie and it was so beautiful back then. Today I see it completely differently.

ok..the freakin scene with david in jail (after he is arrested) is missing with his voice over dialogue, as is the scene where Jade and family go and spread the fathers ashes in the lake....yet here on youtube the spanish version has the scenes in it ..what the heck??????
approx at the 3:35 mark..the few min of dialogue mother and daughter speak to one another, if you have the soundtrack one of the tracks is this exact dialogue but the mother and daughter say it with different expression, Brooke & Shirley Knight must have redid the dialogue for the soundtrack..
WOW! Just like it was yesterday. I can still remember every line and the feelings it all brought back to me to see this movie again. This movie reminds me of my ex-David and I use to say the same line. Thanks for this movie! I always loved it, and watched it here again after many years, thanks to your uploads. I know this movie, and especially Brooke Shields and Martin Hewitt, were very much maligned back in the day, but I think they are both excellent in their roles. Having said all that, the movie does NOT do the novel justice at all. I love the movie, but the novel is sooooooo much better. I suggest to anyone who likes the movie to check out the Scott Spencer book!

THERE is another version of the end scene-they have shortened it-before BROOKE finally came to her senses to visit DAVE at the mental/health instution-dave was talking and expressing what HIS AND HER LOVE really meant to him. IT WAS BEAUTIFUL.
