  • russian culture ist the spritit of all european cultures

    regards from germany

  • i always wonder, why folk music from russia or ireland or any country can carry so much emotion and beauty while our folk music (German) is just an idiotic pile of shit.

  • @gurkenhamster idk anything about german music, but usually the really emotional pieces come from places where people suffer the most.

  • I like Russian folk,I can not find this song "Дроля мой",please for help.

  • Everybody here is wrong about the Russians and their history...Please enjoy a bit of cross cultural celebration...Between the Old or Wooden "Drevna" and the newer Greek Orthodox observance of Shrove week...also called Butter or fat week. Great Lent is an austere event...the food is strictly vegan and all celebrations are forbididen until the Resurection of Christ. There is an alternative to the yeasted buckwheat caviar filled pancakes...crepes with creamy cheesecake filling.

  • a toda madre algun dia voy a ir a rusia, dinamarca, noruega, suecia, finlandia y anexos...

  • what is the name of the song sung by the 4 Wemon ?

  • sposib za prekrasnuju pesen....)

  • I love russian folk songs. I saw the same tradition when I lived in eastern Poland. They burn a doll named 'Marzanna' (from 'Marzec = march), in the middle of march and then, drown it in the river!!! Kiss goddbye to the fierce winter. It was unfortunately still - 14° C outside.

  • AWESOME song!! :D

I enjoy it very much! thanks for sharing :D

  • what is the significance of the doll/ puppet?

  • This doll is the symbol of winter, and doll is burn to spring welcome.

  • Bonito! :)

  • plz plz some1 tell me whats the first song called?

how can I get a hold of it?

  • plz plz some1 tell me whats the first song called?

how can I get a hold of it?

  • I promise you I haven't drunk any Vodka but it makes me wiggle. :)

    I enjoy russian folklore. :)

  • ramiwawa is such an idiot ;) you know, russia, iran, china are like wise adults and the usa is like a teenager. trying to hit its pubertity.

  • Actually, I would classify them as follows: USA as a young adult (started in the 16th century AD), Russia as a middle-aged adult (9th century AD), Iran as an elderly person (7th century BC), and China as an undead (21st+ century BC). Russia is more similar to the US than to Iran or China in this respect. Not to mention that the extensive colonies in the East (Siberia) were only attained by Russia in the 17th century, and got more or less fully colonised only in late 19th century.

  • Most russian folklore (and other Slavic folklore) derives from paganist traditions-before adopting christianity, so I dont understand what has 9th century to do with russian folklore! Slavic folklore existed more than 2000 years before Christ and has still very strong influence on culture of those nations. Instead of very strong christianity tradition, that took many elements of that.

  • Russia as a nation simply did not exist until the 9th century, during which the Kievan Rus was created. As for the Slavs, American culture derives from Anglo-Saxons, it didn't just spring up out of nowhere. Naturally, there are foreign admixtures in both, most notably Finno-Ugric in Russia and Celtic in the US.

  • It was the Finno-Ugric people, that asimilated with Slavs, and not ,that Slavs assimilated in to Finno-Ugric people. They were too numerous, and folklore was strictly devided, becose BC they were not historicaly conected, like they were with the German tribes, for example.

  • "Russia as a nation simply did not exist until the 9th century, during which the Kievan Rus was created."

Wrong. Russia didn't exist as a STATE until the 9th century. The slavs had been living there for even longer and had been exposed to iranic and lother influence via nomadic invasion. Look up Scythian imparct on russian culture.

  • Firstly, you should pay more attention to the context of the posts to which you are replying. Secondly, the existence of Slavs does in no manner imply the existence of a separate branch of them called Russians.

  • Firstly, my posts fir perfectly fine with the conversation.

Secondly, the russian evolved out of the slav migraitons in which the carried previously existing folk lore and took infulences from nomadic conqeurors. It's not as if their folk tradition just popped up one day when they started being called the Rus'.

  • Sorry, didn't want to sound rude. However, we were discussing Russia in the context of it being supposedly much older than the US. If we are to use your line of thought, then the American nation is as old as the Anglo-Saxons who founded it.

The distinct folk tradition of the Russians, as opposed to other Slavs, became apparent in the 9th century, which is the reason for them being treated as a separate entity from that time. The date marks the earliest, rather than the latest of such trad...ns.

  • The name Russia comes from the red hairs of the Vikings that founded the Russian state in Kiev around 880. To history it is unclear whether a Slavian State existed before. Invaders may change culture but the present people will keep their tradition alive. I believe that the dominant factor in any culture is the old local one. The first culture that settles in a region will remain dominant in that region. It is like the dominant cat race in New York is the same as in Amsterdam and Rome.

  • vaghistory

Scythians, Sarmatians = Slavs. Ethnicity Slavs appeared after the Hun invasion in Sarmatia. Slavs are the descendants of the Sarmatians and Scythians real Iranians. not fake Iranians who living in Iran.

  • @turbokurwaagent007

dude, you know, its called "folk-history" or "pop-history". everything is much=much more complicated than you think.

  • Almost all cultures in Europe predate christianity and have roots in pagan worship. Most of christian holidays have their pagan counterpart that is celebreted on the same day or much close to it.

  • WHAT!

  • Класс...хочу в Россию...

  • ramiwawa123: This clip does not concern the USA in any way. It is Russian music. Do not poke the nose into other people's affairs. To us to spit on your spirit

  • what's YOUR problem? Huh?!

  • Shut up, you ignorant pig!!

  • He's jealous because his country doesn't have any folklore and tradition. :P

  • Aliusha06: this is not the reason:)USA have a rich culture perhaps? Well, there cowboys Indians), plus the history of grandparents from England, Ireland, Germany and etc. .. I think the reason is that = ramiwawa123 has some problem with the brain

  • "grandparents from England, Ireland, Germany" : so their history is in Europe.

"cowboys Indians" : cowboys were just farmers, nothing spectacular and indians came actually from Siberia by the Bering. Conclusion : Americans were the first ones to start the Cold War in killing indians.. Since their country exists they attack Russians. :'(

  • This music, too, can be attributed to the village simple and yet.. I like mix cultures in the United States.

  • und woraus besteht deine Kulur? Nichts!!!

  • Nice to see a Russian folk song with NO disco beat! :-)

  • Hermoso

  • Does anyone know the name of the first song they sang?

  • The first song is about Pancake Week (time to celebrate the coming of spring). Doubt it has any name. Sounds as a ritual song to me.

  • now i know i wouldn't last a day there, but what beauty in their spirit and defiance towards such harsh elements.

  • So beutifull!

    greetings from Sweden

  • I hate comunism but russian people are very nice .....fuck capitalism and cccp anarchy !

  • that's you big mistake to put equal sing between russia and communism. Why? Btw, the time "shown" in this clip is 1800-1900 year.

  • Beautiful voices, music, language and women. Not to mention cute little kids.

  • Beautiful!

  • i likw russian rep

  • Beautiful. It's a shame this doesn't exist any more due to the "glorious" globalization and everyone wanting to be COOL

  • drunkrussianartist, I totally agree with you; globalization, the way it's made right now, is just a world conquest for McDonalds and the destruction of local culture. If this keeps on going, everywhere in the world will be the same, without the beauty of any local culture.

  • Russian culture is sooo rich
