Who can help but feel good listening to Champion Jack tickle those keys? His infectious boogie gets the toes tappin' and fills the soul with good ol' fun. Thanks for posting this awesome tune.
I;m lucky enough to have him on vinyl with John Mayall's Bluesbreakers band in the 70's playin shim sham shimmy, third degree and calcutta blues, cool. thanks for the post.
A New Orleans jazz band always seems a more natural blend to the Champ's music than all of those blues-rock legends whom he played in the 1960's. Anyway, Jack is superb, as always!
Sehr schön! Wehmütige Erinnerungen an "wilde" Zeiten!

Could have done without the horns and banjo, but it's still Champion Jack Dupree. He's great, as always.

I love this sound, and the horns are played just right too.

When champion Jack talks about chicken, he don't mean food.
My personal fave is Hometown New Orleans. Check it out.

This guy should be more famous. He's unbelievable. If this music doesn't cheer you up, you're not human.

The title should be "Chicken Shack", and the lyrics derive from Louis Jordan's "Saturday Night Fish Fry". Great stuff - thanks for posting it!

I played the piano together with him in 1984 in Limburg at river Lahn. Since than i am sampling old 10 inch jazz-records. Great man,
spoke a lot about his old times. RIP
