GP's need to start listening to their patients instead of just prescribing medication they earn commission on. E.g Why should anyone be prescribed anti depression drugs without a GP first recommending the consultation of a Psychiatrist? GP's are over paid considered their productivity (which should not be in relation to appointment turn over via a silenting "mums" the word prescription, but in relation to actual remedial consultation.)
Where are the NHS Dentists - it's like living in the third world - you've organised my taxes so that I'm reliant on the NHS - you are obligated to provide PLEASE! 10 years is too long
Health issues should be prioritised. Access to GP's can be improved and patients deserve value for money. The private sector make a profit out of every situation. An example: I take loads of tablets. I collect my prescriptions two monthly. My Chemist is trying to get regular patients onto a weekly prescription so your tablets can be made up for you. Now he gets paid for every prescription he makes up. His prescription income has gone up four fold! This is where a lot of NHS money is wasted!
There is a finite number of people a GP can see in a day. If people pre book days in advance then less people can "see a doctor within 48 hours" so you can't have it both ways. The "did not attend" rate was much higher for pre-booked appointment system, which wasted GP's time and therefore NHS money. I think the current system works fine.
GP's are also humans with a family life. What makes you think they want to work 7 days a week for even longer hours? There is nothing wrong with contracted out of hours care as any doctor can deal with an emergency case.
My fantastic NHS dentist died
Very quickly we were able to get into another NHS dentist
Very quickly it went private and we were dropped
We have now been on waiting lists for 2 years!
This isn't good enough.
