  • A 1-piston shay, that is just so odd

  • Is this engine still running?

  • The Crosby company's centerline boiler is the clue here. Lima Locomotive Works, Inc., would have used a boiler sized for a 2-4-2, offset to the left, on a later-build Class A Shay. Most Lima Shays had sand domes; not so this Crosby.

  • do shays have smaller diametre cylinders than normal locos and can do so because of gearing?

  • It's a shay, but the boiler isn't offset, odd.

  • just hearing the steam generator, bell and whistle. Ahh!!! August is is just around the corner

  • That's an awesome Lonergan three-chime!

  • @FajTheBiolarbaux sorry but its a crosby, it was owned by richard carter who operated in cass, you should go sometime...its epic!

  • Err...sorry I meant *Safety Valve*

  • Funny how that thing doesn't have a steam dome.

  • It has a steam dome, what the heck do you think the whistle is sietting on?

    Len.

  • Actually, he is correct in every way. That dome like structure, situated atop the boiler is in fact a shroud that covers a branch fitting that comes out the boiler, that services the whistle, saftey valves, and the throttle plus the manifold in the cab.
