A well done piece of video, sir. The underlying Christian subtext aside...This film retains a devastating emotional impact that films like ID4 and Mars Attack sorely lack- no matter how good the special FX.
I love the opening to War of the Worlds, in particular, the voice over by Sir Cedrick Hardwick and the Art Direction of Chesley Bonestell and Leith Stevens score...one of the best monologues in all of film.

It was a early 1950s film man. For its time, this movie was ahead of its time. I love it, such a classic. the crappy special effects actually make the movie good. Special effects arnt everything though, its the story that counts to me. This movies is a masterpiece.
Dude, when this film came out these effects were mind blowing. These effects completely go beyond those of any previous motion picture, or even ones that would be seen for a decade. In fact, I question how well modern CG techniques hold up towards these effects.
Crappy and cheezy yes when compared to modern cg effects. But I am not downgrading this movie in any way. This is a must have classic that overdoes the new War of the worlds. And I am with you on modern CG. Though it looks pretty, I still love the movies made back in the days when studio models were built. I am a retro guy. When it comes to world war II movies, I prefer The Longest Day to Saving Private Ryan.
The last third of this movie remains some of the most magical and effective moments of my entire moviegoing experience. I saw it when I was six years old on a small black and white TV and I can remember being both scared and incredibly moved by those scenes. I will never forget the giant alien hand dropping from the downed UFO. Your video brought back all of those memories in a very positive way. Great work, SteVin.
Excellent! A classic alien invasion movie with an excellent score!
And you're right in the commentary. Comparing this with the 2005 Stephen Speilberg version you can see a lot of similarity between the two, in all the right ways of course.
Brilliant film,my mum was pregnant with me when she saw this film in1953 and i,ve been a sc-fi nut ever since.
