I'm a bit late as a player like Kristen! xD However I am loving it so far! My character is a Nord female two-handed sword warrior, she has joined the Companions (now the Harbringer) and is a werewolf. I've gotten as far as getting the quest to go to some tomb from the Greybeards in the main questline. I'm not used to open world RPGs but I really like it.
Kristen, Take your character to Winterhold, the Mage College will help your magic. And they will give you a sweet apartment when you finished the college main quest. :D
63 hours in and level 26 (conjuration/destruction mage) and still barely touched all of the quests in the game. It's an amazing experience. Kudos to Bethesda! :)
if you're gonna go magic make sure to get enchanting up to so you can create armor sets getting your destruction up by 100%. That way you can cast destruction spells to have 0 magicka cost.
I'm a stealth - warrior character and my items have a total alteration and restoration +100 (infinite healing and mass paralysis ftw) +80% one handed and +40% sneaking. Plus a couple of rings and amulets raising magic resistance just in case.
I'm only 5 days in (lvl 19) but I did the whole Companion questline and became their leader. It was a great emotional story arc with some sad deaths. Got the strongest weapon in the game and working on making the Companion Circle blades(dragon hunters). Also trying to marry the girl of the Circle, so I can run around with my wife as a follower who gives me free bow training.
I started out trying to be a Mage but once I picked up an ebony shield magic went out the door. Loki rocks dragon heavy armor and an a legendary ebony sword. I've yet to do anything past visiting the grey beards, side quest just keep cropping up everywhere I turn. I'm leading the companions and I'm also the archmage which is funny since my magic trees are almost non-existent. Next goal become head of the thieves gu
So excited to see Nedopak on here and we can relate with the whole bows issue. Ugh, I played hours on my new archer girl, but I'm dropping her. Never again. I get so pissed off my my hard earned arrows get dodged and after i spent like an entire minute trying to aim it.
@yahhooxoi2 Try using arrows while hidden, and from a distance from your opponent. Eventually, you will be able to kill enemies with one arrow and feel like such a badazzz.
i started playing the game but then i kind of kill the guy in the first town the blacksmith then i ran away all the way to the north and got lost. so then i found the college and thats what im doing now but is not the main story =( . i didnt fight dragons ether any tips?
@MichaelScarn23 How is that possible? Anytime you have to walk anywhere dragons seem to come out of nowhere to attack. Have you been running from them?
@ThinkHeroTV I've been told that since I haven't touched the main quest line (aside from initial escape sequence), dragons won't randomly spawn in my world yet. I feel pretty dumb because I have learned 5 shouts but have no dragon souls to use them. Dark Brother Hood and level 70 archery is just too much fun right now.
@ThinkHeroTV It's possible if he never followed the "main" quest line. Dragons only "appear" after fighting the first dragon near that tower in Whiterun, so if he never followed that quest line dragons would never spawn for him.
@ThinkHeroTV@ThinkHeroTV i think the dragons don’t start appearing until you launch into the main quest. i used to fight dragons in the opening sequence too, then i took an arrow in the knee
@ArmyGuns89 Correct, I had no shouts for my first 60 hours. I was focused on the companions questline, using werewolf power..then I did Dark BrotherHood questline using advanced archery. But I got shouts yesterday finally.
I honestly don't understand why everyone is obsessed with Skyrim. I've never felt intrigued by these open-world RPGs because I've always felt that the story doesn't suck me in. I much prefer RPGs like Mass Effect 2 where you're just in the midst of this crazy action movie and it's in your face from the first minute.
@doxide I love the Mass Effect franchise as well and it is different style of RPG however Mass Effect does have open world aspects to it as well and isn't constant action either.

Reason #300 why I love this game: Everyone's playing/experiences the game completely differently. That is amazing. Its freaking HUUGE!

@MichaelScarn23 It's possible. As long as you don't give that dragonstone you found to anyone no dragons will spawn.
