Because the phone call was well-intentioned. I think her error is in not communicating well-enough to the people in the room that she was calling to validate her answer to the question. If someone at work comes and asks me a question that I don't know the answer to but Pete Stephens probably does, then I'm going to call Pete Stephens right then and there...but to be clear, my response should be, "I don't know. Let's ask Pete." not just pick up the phone and start dialing.
