  • who keeps giving bad comment votes to huntyarra he is only tryin to help other people improve

  • 4) Consistent dropping of guard and hands can be seen going in all directions during kicks.

    5) Avoidance of the spinning kicks was due to sheer dumb luck. Should Josh improve on his spatial awareness and get just that little bit closer you will be requiring a lot of Panadol.

All in all it was the contest rules that saved you. In a more liberal match your lack of form would cost you dearly. You need to drop the flashy move training and get back to basics.

  • Opponent:

1)Kicking speed was good but kicks appeared to lack power. Knee raising straight up in front of body denying hip participation in the strike the most likely cause

2)Attacks were random and spasmodic, they lacked focus and direction leaving many vulnerable areas open to attack

3)Stance was too narrow, combined with rising onto the balls of the foot and bouncing around resulted in the inability to manoeuvre properly. At 00:23 rear foot can be seen crossing over behind leading foot

  • Things to look out for: you were slightly flat footed, this reduced you reaction time and speed. Your stances and stepping were excellent but you need to pay some consideration to how you are connecting with the ground. Also, at times you were hunching your shoulders forward, this to comes at a cost to speed.

All in all you put on a very good display of skill and deserved victory. That match was a credit to your martial art.

  • My Analysis:

    Hapkido Josh:

    1) Superior use of thought and concentration. Moves were planed out and opportunities capitalised upon.

    2) Superior posture and tighter defence.

    3) Superior use of positioning (moving around opponent for tactical advantage)

    4) Superior power in techniques (able to generate more energy in strikes)

    5) Good conservation of energy and consistent defence.

    6) Good use of spinning hook kick.
