@AUVisLit Ask him to sit, then take a treat and slowly lower it to the ground with your hand palm down (you add the verbal command later). At the beginning, give the reward for even remotely bending/lowering the front legs. It's hard because they're short, so they don't really have to lie down to get the treat, but keep working on it & he'll do it. It took us two weeks with our corgi. Eventually you can use the hand/verbal signal from waist height & give the treat when he's down. Good luck!
@canne23 Thanks for the suggestions! I've been working with my corgi, trying to get him to learn "down." You're right, it took a while at first for him to actually lie down for a treat, but I think he's finally getting the hang of it now!
@TheSullivanBookClub A fat Corgi may be cute, but it causes them to have spine and back problems. A correct weight is when you can look at their back and it is level... no down slope anywhere. I own a Corgi and lost a Lab due to being overweight, so these people need to watch their beloved dog and make her lose weight.
@smassey85 I do know about it. I lost a Labrador Retriever myself because of overweight... I do think this dog may need to loose weight. But I was just commenting on how cute he was, that's it.
he/she looks like a sausage furball lol. what are the names of corgi's with and without tails? i saw some on the vids that other corgi have tails. welsh corgi? pembroke corgi? what gives?
all of them are welsh corgis, the ones with tails are usually a bit bigger and are called cardigans while the smaller ones without tails are pembrokes.
me and my brother both want a corgi dog when we move into our new house but my mom says they look mis-shapen. I don't think they even are but we can't get one for that reason :( she says they look like the combine of a weiner dog and a german shepherd... but still they're soo cool.
she must do a lot of tricks. She's a little round in the middle. lol I have a boy corgi that is almost 5 months old. He is a couch potato. I like him like that. The are so smart you start to think that they are little people in hairy coats.
TOO MUCH WANT! :D

This has to be driven by food. A corgi will do anything for food. Best dogs ever though.

Who's taking pictures of a moving dog? Nothing like a nice roll of film featuring amorphous brown entities.

@mariadiasy Pembroke = No tail, light brown/white (the one in the video)
Cardigan = A tail, combination tan/brown/grey/black/white (and they're usually a few pounds bigger)
