Well because I am capable of complex thought as we should all be, and I understand that though people make mistakes and the justice system fails at times there are certain individuals out there who are simply more principled and fight harder than the rest.

Teddy's work in the senate in the 40 years following that incident is not null and void. anyone with eyes knows that in those 40 years, whether you like him or not, Teddy fought like hell for us. Here is but a tiny piece of evidence.

See we think differently. I am able to look at an incident like that and say here is what happened and here is how he responded. I believe that the Mary Jo incident is what made Teddy dedicate the rest of his career to redeeming himself. And for all of his faults, and he certainly had them, he was the most principled and fearless member of the senate. Imagine erasing him from history, no Mary jo, no senator. This country would be a different place and I believe for the worse.

Kennedy driving off the bridge may have been an accident, but him leaving the woman to die wasn't. He didn't report it to police until the next day, long after it was too late. Cheyney didn't leave his hunting partner to die like Kennedy left the woman.

It takes about 3 minutes for a person to drown, I have a feeling she would have been dead regardless of when it happened or who was with her. Yes, he handled things badly and it was horrible, but you cant automatically assume that more couldve been done, or that you wouldve acted any differantly.

Kennedy was drunk, and he wanted to lay low until he sobered up. He was only concerned about himself and his career. More could have easily been done. I don't just assume I would have acted differently, I KNOW I would have. I would not have been driving drunk to begin with, and I would have gone straight to the nearest house to call the police. Kennedy didn't call anyone until the next day, and he called his lawyer first. Ted Kennedy is a slime ball who got off easy just because he is a Kennedy.
