The irish goalkeeper doesn't even defend, because he saw the handball. This happened in the Netherlands Vs Italy game, and the goal was disallowed. Can't see why it wasn't done here either.

Seriously, Ireland are the biggest joke of all time. The handball incident alone didn't ensure qualification for the world cup. Robbie Keane himself attempted 3 times unsuccessfully to handball on purpose but got caught. By all means, be unhappy with the referee's decision, but the ludicrous calls for replays must stop. France didn't ask for one when the German goalkeeper in the 1982 world cup semi final hospitalized battision and stayed on the pitch to win the penalty shootout for Germany.

Whats the problem? FIFA are a joke, we have stood up to them, am proud to be Irish. World Cup 2002 was another joke. Youtube the following games (Brazil v Belguim, South Korea v Spain and South Korea v Italy). Blatter was out of order with his comments about the 33rd team, that was said in private. He ignores cheating. Check out Peter Jenning documentary on Panorama where he questions money paid to FIFA by a marketing company

Delaney looks genuinely distressed to be fair but it's just stupid. Only five minutes before Henry handled it Robbie Keane did the same thing and got caught. That's football everyone should shut up whinging, Keane said it best we got a dubious penalty against Georgia I didn't see the FAI offering them a replay.

I think a rematch is fair, what they should do is have a rematch and then introduce video technology so that a referee's decision is final, that will solve the problem of causing a mess up later on. The question is if Ireland did get it but still lost would Irish fans still be angry??

I love what he said and obviously he's right. But i thought that bringing up Maradona would slighty get the authorities to shy away from his plea. While Maradona did handball against England, his legacy wasnt ruined, since in that game he almost singlehandedly destroyed their team especially their defense and Argentina scored 2 goals. ANd....obviously Henry is never a comparison to Maradona in anyway. Maradona can win games scoring with his ass, chin, feet, anything. HOPE THIS GAME IS REPLAYED!!

Absolutely correct. The game is now corrupted - small nations are seeded so that it's almost impossible for them to qualify anyway. Then we have this? How none of the officials didn't see this is beyond me and millions across the globe.

Actually you can blame Henry. He knew it was a handball (deliberate or not), if he was honest he would have gone to the ref and admitted it. But he celebrated instead...the offside was there, but marginal. You can actually see his eyes watching the ball as he tapped it back. The irish goalkeeper doesn't even defend, because he saw the handball. This happened in the Netherlands Vs Italy game, and the goal was disallowed. Can't see why it wasn't done here either.

Yeah, we agree in the main but Henry is running, the ball comes at speed, he plays it with his hand - it's reactionary. He's not refereeing the game, so I can't agree. Pictures show officials had a decent view - the real problem lies with them. These people are cocking up decisions so often, when there is really no doubts. It's understandable if they don't have a good view or the call is marginal but FFS it's become laughable. Being Irish I'm sorry we won't be in SA but that's soccer.

To be fair Italy have been at the end of some awful refereeing decisions!! South Korea v Italy at World Cup 2002 springs to mind!! Italy played their semi final in New York in 1994 on a Wednesday in New York before having to travel to Los Angeles for the final!! Brazil meanwhile played their semi final in Los Angeles on the Wednesday!! How was that fair? Grosso flicked the ball by Neill who came in with a crazy challenge. How could he avoid him?!!!

Even as an Irishman, I don't blame Henry, I'd have done the exact same in his situation, most people would. The one's that wouldn't are one in a million. If anyone's to blame I think it's F.I.F.A for not having better refereeing methods, just put another match official behind each goal and it won't be half as bad, but then why would they do that? After all it makes sense which is a foreign concept to F.I.F.A (...and E.U.F.A)

As fara as I am concerned so many matches have been won a bad ref decision (ie Chelsea- Barcelona). Chelsea players were upset but accepted the result. That 's the same for Ireland and they should have scored on their numerous occasions. No exceptions for Ireland who never managed to score 2 goals against a weak France. How many times was France stolen in its foot and rugby history? So Ireland will learn and swallow it. Sorry.

Game stopped. no communication other than eye contact by referee and linesman. 4th official cud have observed monitor on halfway line camera. body language by 6 players immediatly tells you something is wrong. There was an even more important handball in the first leg. An Irish free kick into the box was handled by a french player before falling to robbie keane. I f this had been given we wouldn't have needed extra time and henry wouldn't have had his chance to cheat.

the goal was a joke, offside and the ball was handled not once but twice, henry nearly caught the ball in his hand. the referee knew it was a foul, linesman had a clear view so they both missed this obvious and blatant treble foul...well what the fuck they doing refereeing the match if their mentally retarded.! maradonas hand of god wasnt blatant but this incident was so obvious and blatant its ridiculous. should be a replay or fifa heads should role.

Games lost always involve some kind of cheating and I don't blame any other than the FIFA policy makers. Their vision for Football is NIL. Game is becoming very voilent and attitude towards the game is sheer winning by any means. Now, replay of the match, not just this game, there are many other games to be replayed and be prepared for many replays.
