Actually, for a wave board or ripstik your dominate foot goes in the back. My dominate foot is my right so I put it on the tail. Starting with your left foot in the front (if your right is dominate) is better for beginners. It gives you more balance.

Ripstik can´t be compared with a skate or a longboard because they are totally diferent things, Personally i think that ripstik is great, and maybe a lil bit more difficult to ride.
